Not likely....there have been a ton of reports where they just dont want to get rid of him.

^ Well, Orlando sure isn't playing him. He's undersized (both in height and weight) and they need some toughness in their backcourt. Obviously they aren't giving him away for nothing but I think he can be had, most likely as part of a larger deal.

Arenas is not getting traded for vastly inferior players like Miller and Lowry. Just let it go.

Isn't Miller pretty much the same as Lewis and Turkgolu? I'm not saying that he wouldn't be an upgrade over guys like Bogans and Dooling, but I think Orlando would try for a more defensive minded player first.

Miller can play the guard spot where turk and lewis can't. I think Miller is a very good sg/sf/ Turky is more of a sf/pf and is just to slow to guard anything with the speed of a ant.

Ellis is not being shopped. He's the PG of the future in Golden State.

Ellis is Gilbert of a few years ago.

I can see shopping Gil if you think you'rt gonna be able to keep him next year. Problem is until hes healthy you cant do anythitng.

I may consider a Kidd/Carter for Arenas deal. Those guys make us a dangerous team in the East.

TMac is the guy I think who's most likely to get traded. If I'm houston I'd be offering TMac for Kidd

Two completely different situations.

Thank you, I almost threw up looking at that clippers, griz, wizards trade. Why would the Wizards do that? If anything we would want Brand.

How about this speculative gem from Sam Smith...

Lake show isn't over
The Lakers may not be done tinkering with their roster.

The word is they don't believe Odom can be that ultimate small forward to defend the wing and shoot from distance along the front line when Andrew Bynum returns.

The Lakers are said to be looking hard for a more traditional small forward with shooting range. Perhaps the Wizards' Caron Butler, who was injured and couldn't play in Sunday's All-Star Game.

Who in the hell does Sam think the Lakers have to get Caron? It damn well would have to be a better package than that crap they put together for Gasol. Either Sam is talking out of his ass once again, or he's counting on some manifesto from David Stern to push through all crap trades to make the Lakers championships contenders once again.

I don't see it. Ellis is nowhere near as strong, doesn't have Gil's range, and hasn't shown much passing ability.

Now that Kwame isn't available I can't see a deal getting done...

I agree, Ellis is undersized at 6'3 and about 185 lbs. Gil is 6-4 212. Gil is a sniper from long range and is strong taking it to the basket. Ellis has no 3 point range.

The one deal that could possibly work out for the Wizards would be Odom for Jamison. Hear me out on this one:

Arenas is a shoot first point guard/shooting guard whatever you want to call him so you need a pass first ballhandling SF or PF. Nick Young is talented to be sure, he can be your 6th man when you go small.

PG- Arenas
SG- Butler
SF- Odom
PF- Blatche
C- Haywood

Has a nice flow to it offensively. Odom plays well with Butler and would defer to Arenas. He's a better defender and rebounder than Jamison although not the same shooter. Jamison's contract status is a bit worrisome.

The Lakers in turn would shop around Jamison's deal probably to Memphis for Miller+extras...

It has been discussed several times in the past.

The general concensus is that it's a deal that we might have considered last year when Jamison was an 8-rebound-per-game defensive seive. Now that he's pulling down double-digit boards while also showing improved defense, he is clearly a better player than Odom.

Another complication is the cap situation. Jamison figures to be resigned for considerably less than his current $16M. Ideally, he is signed for something like $8M a year, but even if he gets paid as much as $10M per year, it's still a lot cheaper than the $14M due to Odom. We need to save every one of those dollars to avoid the luxtax.

You make a fair point that Odom's point-forward skills might complement Arenas' shoot-first mentality. But I think you can also argue that Jamison's catch-and-shoot style is an equally good fit on a team with Arenas and Butler, who both play better with the ball in their hands.

If 35-yr old (in less than a month) Jason Kidd is worth Devin Harris (a #5 overall), plus 7 foot shot blocker, Diop, plus two firsts; I wonder what Gilbert Arenas is worth.

Cuban totally overspent to get Kidd.

If Gil gets a max deal, what would the Wizards get for him in a trade?

Cuban did overpay...by alot...but Gil's situation is quite different.

He's had a serious injury and surgery twice within the last year. He's seen as a bit of nut who can't keep his mouth shut and he's an impending free agency who's already came out and said he would not re-sign with a team that traded for him.

New Jersey did make out like bandits though. Come playoff team, when Kidd is run down and getting abused defensively, Dallas will miss Devin Harris and his ability to break down defenses and willingness to deter dribble drive penetration.

Great trade for Thorn.
