Re: Yi to the Wizards for Ross
JWiz, someone once thought I was crazy (okay, a lot have) but I was merely trying to demonstrate that you can loft an aluminum bat or a pretty huge stone about 3-5 feet up in the air and have it come crashing down on your melon without causing anything more than a superficial scalp abrasion.
(PUH LEEZE don't even think of trying it! I knew how high to toss it and I knew it wouldn't cause ME more than a scratch. Don't do it. You'll very, very, very likely get hurt. I just was freakishly indestructible that day.)
Actually, I think I tossed three bats up in the air and caught them with my skull.
Honestly, that's easy to do and didn't even cause a bruise ... on me. But if the wrong somebody tried that they get a concussion.
JWiz, the Thai fighter's mind is the weapon. Trust me, if you're a badass and you know it, you really can stand a lot more than the average man. The human body is really amazing. You and I have so much more power than we actually use that it's not even funny.
It's no surprise to me that when adrenalin flows people have been known to lift the front end of vehicles.

Yi sucks . He's too timid most of the time and weak other times. Just make sure he doesnt start he might play a little better.

One night, me and my buddy were walking through the Forum Shops. We were completely wasted and I noticed Chuck Liddell was walking in the forum shops with two hot women by his side. This is where it gets fuzzy, apparently I walked over to Chuck yelling "**** Chuck Liddell" and according to my buddy, Chuck was about to punch me in the face. All I remember was meeting him and shaking his hand, but I don't remember anything about him almost decking me.
Back on topic, I posted something long winded but it bears repeating:
no one was coming here in 2010 or 2011 so our best bet is to take other people's trash and make the best of it. We are not going to the playoffs this year, and probably not next year. We have to field a team this year guys. AK-47 wasn't walking through that door, neither is Marc Gasol or Carmelo Anthony.
Chuck's made a living of beating down drunk guys, from what I read in MMA mags back in the day.
Every time he gets knocked out I'm thinking it's just paybacks due.
The next guy I really want to see get knocked out is Rashad Evans. Weasel of a guy IMO. Calling a grown man a boy isn't good. I don't like his style, but he is a very smart fighter.

A Thai boxer did an exhibition while I was still going to high school in Jamaica. He had someone break a wooden bat across his face and apart from a gash from one of the splinters and a bloody lip, his face didn't even swell. He didn't even so much as flinch when he got hit. This guy just cleaned up and carried on his exhibition for another hour. Mind you, I think his training is far more intense than your average MMA fighter but it's the same concept.
No way, no how would I have EVER let somebody hit me in the face with a bat.
I have been hit, accidentally, in the head by a baseball bat as a kid. (Maybe THAT explains it!
Most I ever would have done when physically fit (and mentally prepared) is to break baseball bats or let my thighs or arms be whacked. Never was Bo Jackson strong enough to just splinter a baseball bat it two, but it was doable back in the day.

Speaking of Liddell, I'm certain if I hit him first I would knock him out. That's not saying much, as I believe the average relatively strong punch could these days. Chuck is stick-a-fork-in-him done. Probably has some brain damage, too.
No no no no. These guys train everyday to take damage to the noggin, and unless you've specifically trained yourself to throw a "proper" punch. I image your best punch would probably feel like a slap in the face. Their bones are far more compact due to years of training. You could knock out the average joe though. Take pride.
Yeah, the average Joe doesn't scare me. The Josephines and Jezebels are a whole nother story ...
I've had my ass kicked thoroughly in other ways for years by 5' to 5' 7" women.

Honestly, I might find out after me and Mrs CCJ version 2.0 part ways. I think I'm tired of sisters, man...
I'm probably going Filipino or Japanese next time out.
Angry asian chick sounds HOT to me, JWiz!
Cussin' you out with their cute little accent. Going all crazy throwing ish around the house.

Yi Jianlian is a 7' car accident, a tornado of suck tearing across the Meadowlands, an extended metaphor that refuses to end... Quinton Ross was... well, he was terrible, too, but in a "harmless, who-was-that-guy" kinda way that'll end up on Wizznutzz's list of classic players from years past like Ashraf Amaya and that-guy-Gil-was-friends-with-that-punched-someone-while-in-the-D-league.

Re: Yi to the Wizards for Ross
I don't understand the negativity. I think Yi can play the 3 or stretch 4, and a front line of Blatche/Yi/McGee seems awfully interesting to me.
This cost $3M of cap space to give a (reported) 22 year old, 7-footer with a "face up game" and 3 point range a one year try-out. What's not to like? As opposed to spending the same money on Juwan Howard or Ike Diogu or Sean May. ($1.5M on a FA plus $1M+ for QR). And as has been noted, Yi does seem to fit into Flip's offense and can spread the floor nicely for Wall/Arenas.
If Yi continues to suck, he's got an expiring contract and he'll leave at no cost. I just don't see how anyone can be negative on this trade. It was something potentially promising for nothing.

If EG had simply gotten a second round pick in the deal, I think a lot of the sturm und drang could have been averted. Maybe the light will turn on for Yi, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Yi to the Wizards for Ross
I ACTUALLY FIGURED THIS OUT! Ernie is crazy like a fox...
Think about it. Who are the two major players we acquired?
Kirk Hinrich.
Yi Jianlian.
How do these guys relate to the Wizards, you ask?

...and

Gil in the 2005 playoffs. Andray and the famed almost-triple-double game.
Ernie has brought in these guys to pump up our existing folks in practice! Jianlian gets to be a road cone as Blatche drives the lane! Arenas gets to practice long threes over a guy with limited hops!
I'm telling you, it could work.

The whining on this board is contagious...a simple move like this, and you have 15 pages of tears.
We traded Quinton Ross...what the heck were we supposed to get back exactly? Geez...

Re: Yi to the Wizards for Ross
This is a good trade.
Trading a useless player for one that can be used is always good.
Yi spreads the court, sells Wizards jersey's and is in a contract year.
EG is doing great this summer. Matter of fact is been doing great since the trade deadline.

Just a stinking 2nd round pick with it, that's all. The Nets were the ones wanting the cap space and it's not like Yi's been tearing up the Association.

Re: Yi to the Wizards for Ross
Yi's an expiring contract, so he'll have the same value our TPE's will come the trade deadline. And he doesn't seem like a locker room cancer. So in the end, it doesn't really matter.
But what I dislike about this trade is the "chicken with its head cut off" aspect to it. What's the point? The guy sucks. Can't we focus on looking to pick up actual value?
