Also, as far as I'm concerned, Wall scored 35 tonight. That stupid uncalled goal tend by Plumlee could not possibly be more obvious than it was.

I was there last night and I was jarred by how electric the building was. The only thing it matched in my memory bank was Jeffries' dunk to seal the BUlls' series. I don't know if they announced a sell-out, but the building was full. Those last couple of minutes were just incredible. It took me a while to get to sleep; I don't know how coaches and players sleep after an experience like that.

Drewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

WallToWall wrote:So for those of us who have been keeping tabs of John Wall, his "breakout" game came about a dozen or so games ago. I refer to that as the game that said to us that he's arrived. I think other players know this as well. Refs dont yet give him the respect. The majority of fans for other teams dont yet think he's arrived. I think all that changes today. He did enough to show that he is a factor. He can turn a game.
I remember way way back when I noticed that Jordan arrived. Before that, there was talk that Jordan was a selfish player and would never be more than a Drexler type player. Refs werent giving him the calls, fans hadnt yet noticed him so much... Then with the addition of a few sidekicks like Pip, Oakley, Paxon, Grant, who knew their roles in a system, they became a team.
I am not saying Wall is Jordan. Far from it. Very far from it. But he can turn a game, like Jordan. We are still a few sidekicks away, a good system away, and a good coach away. But we have some good pieces. What I am saying is that this Wizards team reminds me of 86-87 Bulls and where they were at that point of their storied history. Still a ways to go, but things were looking up for them, as it should be for us as well.

Well, I'd be happy to have a player who only reaches Drexler level - including Wall.

On TV it looked like there were quite a few empty seats in the first quarter, but towards the end it looked like the place was packed.

Not sure if people simply moved down from the upper at that point, but one of Buckhantz/Chenier did mention a sell out crowd when the game was over.

The crowd seemed timid in the first half, but boy did they bring it down the stretch.

This town is ready, and Wall certainly has the desire to put the Wizards on the map. Great, great game.

Did they show the crowd after that Wall dunk on TV last night cause they might've showed me faint in the 106 section after that dunk, I lost everything after that dunk, I cried, I smiled, I lost my voice and creamed my pants all at the same time

That dunk was a will dunk, a "This is my City" dunk, my team dunk I was just so impressed by Wall's performance but there's still plenty of season left.

PS: I still hate Ernie!!!

What about this deal:

Brook Lopez for Nene+Porter?

Its a gamble, but both Nene and Lopez have injury concerns. Porter gives the Nets a potential young SF, and we avoid paying Gortat that huge money (in fact, this deal saves us some money as Nene+Porter make more than Lopez does).

You read that right, John Wall is shooting 35.5% from three-point range, on nearly 4 attempts per game. This season Wall is a better three-point shooter than Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.

Biggest positive of the season for me. He is shooting 51% from 3 this month.

Stellar game from Wall last night. He should have had a lot more assists but guys kept throwing up bricks on wide open shots.

Wall played great -- really great -- no doubt about it. But... "saves the team" and "shooters sucked?"

Would Wall have had a chance to save the team w/o Drew Gooden's shooting?

Would Gooden's shooting mattered if Wall didn't drop 33?

Gooden in essence picked up Beal's and Ariza's slack, Wall turned it up a notch.

4-6 from three, 33 points on 15 shots? Those are ridiculous numbers.

You can kind of expect that from Wall, its not like he hasn't done this before. You think Gooden is good for another 21 points in a game this year?????

Wall was player of the game but without Drews out of body turn the clock performance, Wizards probably would not have won either so Would Wall performance had matter either, like MOrgil said. You could look at it that way also.

I think Wall was the definitive player of the game. He has that rare quality, to really take over the game and will his team to win. He could be having a poor shooting game but still turn it on "when it matters most", on offense and defense.

We went from having one of the worst second units in the NBA, to having an effective, heady 2nd unit.

Six against opponents that are better than us. We need to beat everyone we're ostensibly better than and steal one against a good team. I want to finish 11-5 and go into the postseason rolling.

Correction: 9 more wins ties the 77/78 record of 44-38, when the Bullets beat Seattle for the title. In 78/79, the Bullets went 54-28 and lost to Seattle in the Finals. 10 more wins ties the Wizards' 04/05 season (45-37), when they lost to the Heat in the 2nd round.

To your larger point, would be great if they finished 11-5 for their best record since 78/79.

Thanks Mr Wall...

Thanks, also, old guys for bringing fight and energy this game off the bench.

The playoffs could be really interesting, especially if Nene comes back fresh.

Whups, got the year wrong. I meant that 78/79 season you refer to. I want us to get to 46 this year. Honestly, when you look at the schedule, they should get a least 9 more wins. I think there are 10 "should win" games left. On paper. But things aren't coming easily to us right now.

I'd love to get to 46 this year. Then for next year we can talk about getting to 50+.

Also forgot to add, he's posting a better 3pt % this season than Derrick Rose ever has in his career. If Wall ups his scoring efficiency a bit more and keeps playing great defense, he could be better than MVP Rose.

He's been an extremely solid midrange shooter for years. He shot .445, .438 and .452 from 16-22 feet in 2012, 2011 and 2010 respectively. That's a good enough percentage that you actually want a player shooting long 2's. He's probably over 50% when he gets a good look.

The new wrinkle is the 3-ball. That could be huge for him and really extend his career.

Agreed.

I liked Gooden even way back when he was at Kansas. He's a decent backup stretch 4.

I think with Al Harrington being capable of short minutes as a stretch 5, he and Drew Gooden can bring something good off the bench.

More 3s and FTs attempts... less long twos... then Wall will average close to 23 PPG

Wall can eventually drop 25+ a night, easily.
