I'm all for Vince if they would take Blatche, Thomas, and Young. Not our pick whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure a deal could be worked out that didn't include our pick.

I dont want to see McGee or Young traded, i want to see one more possibly two more years of young, and want to see McGee develop into a monster which i think he can be.
The only Bosh trade I would consider is:
Jamison + Blatche + Thomas + 5th pick
for
Bosh + Banks
Then ship Stevenson + James + Pecherov + 2010 1st + 09 2nd round pick
for
Vince Carter + filler
Arenas/Critt/Banks
Carter/Young
Butler/McGuire
Bosh/Songaila/
Haywood/McGee
I dont even know if the carter deal is realistic, but that lineup would compete for a title

yungal, I don't see the big deal if the Wizards give them the #5 if they give back Carter with the #11.
You end up with Carter and Blair, probably.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

He could Fed Ex it or fax it as a #3 or #4 option with the Wizards.
Easily, he'd be relaxed and effective with Washington, playing alongside teammates at UNC Jamison and Haywood, and alongside Gil.

Yup. Playing with former teammates is nothing but a plus in this instance.
Anyone think it's a coincidence Vince plays his best against the Wizards? His game goes to another level when he knows he's in the presence of his former teammate and best friend (Jamison).

Would Washington do a RiP for #5 (Harden) + Blatche + Etan Thomas?
Washington would save some money and get their SG.
Not sure if i would do it for Detroit, just wondering what you guys think about it

^Alot of us like Rip, but that's too much. Not the #5 AND Blatche, AND Thomas expiring.

I see. I will presume you guys would do #5 + Thomas for RiP right? I don't like anyone outside the top 3 picks, that's why i was wondering if you guys would add Blatche.
Perhaps Joe D will be high on DeRozan and/or Harden and will pull the trigger on that and hopefully i am wrong about Hill/Harden/DeRozan.
Thanks for the reply BigA

Why would we want to add Blatche to the deal?
Is Bosh really on the market? That would be a nice consolation prize.

Re: What Should the Wizards Should Do with the 5th Pick?
Greetings Wiz brethren. Just back from my conference in Vegas (more on that in the random thought thread later) where I watched the lotto in The Venetian sports book. This is the first time I've seen the boards, even though I know what all the posts were basically going to say. I did follow Wiz Insider on my phone though.
I love the Wizards and I love a lot of my fellow Wizards fans, but I really want to smack/shake a bunch of you, along with Mike Wise, Sally Jenkins and Tom Boswell. All the "poor us" bellyaching about curses and whatnot reminds me of that chick that we all know -- you know the one always bitching about how she can't get a boyfriend and how this guy won't call her back blah blah blah. Shut up, get to the gym a little more regularly, and stop putting "woe is me" vibes out into the universe. You think anyone is going to want to date you like that? Come on, people. I want to Vito Corleone all you Johnny Fontaines. Act like a man!
You want tragedy? Look at the Sacramento Kings. They needed Griffin to be remotely relevant. They're terrible and are going to be for a long time. Those fans have a right to cry. Wiz fans need to grow a pair and buy some tickets, because Flip is going to outperform EJ's best season next year alone.
Yeah, landing Griffin or Rubio would have been great. But for those of you without the grasp of simple probability, the odds were stacked against it. Yeah, the odds were against the Wiz sliding to 5, but one they didn't get one or two, it didn't really matter. If anything, it makes keeping the pick a slightly less expensive option.
One way or another, Ernie;s going to upgrade the rotation this summer -- either with the pick or by trading it. Count me among others who have Harden at the top of my list at 5. My belief is that 99% percent of his detractors here only saw him play 1-2 games when he didn't perform well at the end of the year. If he were to join the Wiz he'd have a completely different role -- he wouldn't be an offensive focal point, but rather a facilitating, shotmaking, role player. He'd be a better version of Deshawn and Nick Young. If you have't, read Chad Ford's blog on Harden;s workout. I'd be very happy with him as the pick.
Just look at the Nuggets and see what good health (finally) and one move can do to a franchise. We're getting healthy and Ernie has the arrows in his quiver for a big move between draft night and the deadline.
So yeah, draft Harden or package the pick for Bosh. Maybe trade down to afford some flexibility for a bigger move down the road. Go Wizzuhs.

Fishercob, point well taken. However you've got to realize that most of the "woe is me" posts (mine included) came right after we got kicked in the nuts. The more recent posts are much more positive.

This is true. Now that the dust has settled and Wizards fans have moved through the aforementioned 5-stage process, we've come to accept our draft position and are now squarely focused on improving our team.

thats bull. You dont make your own luck. The lottery is pure luck and we had the best odds of anyone to win the thing except for Sacramento

Having the 2nd-best odds is meaningless when the actual percentage chance is 17.8%. It's a crap-shoot.
It's that very reason that I tried to talk some sense to myself when the season ended because I knew I would eventually get caught up in the "Oh, we have one of the best chances" talk. But it's just irrational to think that a 17% chance is anything remotely near a "sure thing".
And we only had a, what, 30% chance at a top-2 pick? Those odds aren't good either. Now, did I think we'd pick 5th? No, I thought that we'd realistically pick 3rd or 4th but really....does it matter THAT much that we're picking 5th instead of 3 or 4? Either way, we're not getting our hands on Griffin or Rubio.

I saw a ton of Pac-10 play and Harden is going to be fine. He's an all-around player. I won't mind either Harden or Hill. Both will be good NBA players.

mhd, looks like you may get what you've been wishing for with Jordan Hill, as Grunfeld seems to be fairly impressed with him. I only saw him in the early part of the year where he was really impressive, so I'd be pretty happy with getting him too. I didn't see the games at the end of the year where he struggled, I don't know how much of that had to do with his ankle injury.
I'm also waiting to how things play out with Brandon Jennings (another guy that was supposed to go to Arizona before he split for Europe). Draftexpress really seems to have a crush on him- he's up to #4 on their mock. Sounds like he has all the tools to be a really good NBA point guard- except about 20 pounds of muscle and a jumper- we'll see just how much confidence Ernie and other GMs have that he can get those things before November.
Anyway, at least one of those 2 guys will be there at #5. (Assuming Rubio and/or Thabeet don't drop.)

We need Harden more, if Harden & HIll are on the board and Ernie is choosing between the two, I hope he takes Harden.

Alright, so now I think Harden is definately the best option. He most likely will be available (griffin/rubio/thabeet all should go ahead of him and then sac wont take harden so itll be them picking whoever they like, or a trade down).
Harden can come in and play the Courtney Lee role IMO- Rookie starting SG who has skills, but mostly defers to the other starters when they're in the game.
For those who question Harden's athletisism: 1) he led the pac ten in steals 2) (From the draftexpress article on sgs) He was something like third out of all sg draft prospects in creating off the dribble, and 1st in point per possession in those opertunities. Plus, I think he will be a very good three point shooter in the NBA, at the least. He hits arenas style pull ups from NBA range and beyond. Also, I think Harden's length, and heady play will make him a very solid perimiter definender, much like C Lee. He may not be able to put pressure on smaller players like c. lee can, but I think he will learn how to bother the Kobe's/VC's/Redd's of the game with his length, and by not fouling. Not a superstar, but he's a jeff green level #5 pick IMO. He could be the #2 scorer on a bad team, but he's smart enough to play the fifth option role on a good team. Plus, if we dont take a SG, we're hedging our bets on Young and Deshawn (coming back from injury no less) to not only guard other teams' SG's
, but fit into the offense. I dont think thats wise, and I hope we can move Deshawn and Songaila this offseason and Etan and Mike James at the deadline (possibly for another piece if we're in contention).
