I don't remember Michael Finley in his younger days, but was he explosive at all? It seems Barnes could have a very similar game. His jumper is so smooth.

I'm so old that I remember Finley way back in his Sconsin days. He was an ultra uber athlete for those days - and actually not a great shooter. There was a big burly center on that team - can't remember his name, but that Wisconsin team was disappointing, because they had 2 stars and really didn't play well. I think the Bucks drafted the center and hoped he'd improve his skills in Europe and eventually play well in the NBA, but it never happened.

And Jones is hitting that outside jumper. Surprised Dat didn't put him in his top 10.
Yeah, that KY defense is just sick. And it's not just Davis - who really is that good - but Jones and Gilchrist at the forwards are so big and long. Gilchrist would be the stud defender on most teams, an you hardly even notice him on Kentucky.

Dat, I think you have Lamb too low.
Is Henry Sims an NBA prospect? I'm beginning to think so.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
ESPN.com named UNLV's Mike Moser national player of the week. He's a sophomore who transferred from UCLA. Recall that Moser's UNLV team beat Barnes and UNC last week. Moser had 18 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists against the Tar Heels.

If he can do that against players like Henson and Barnes, Moser is no slouch. I will throw Mike Moser's name out early as a player to keep watch on this season.

I dont see that. I agree with Ruz. Finley could sky -- he had young Jason Richardson hops.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
Timely to our Sullinger discussion, SBNation's Jonathan Tjarks delivers his assessment:

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2011/12/2/2 ... e-buckeyes
JARED SULLINGER
6'8, 265 lbs., sophomore power forward
Shot creation: One of the most gifted low-post scorers in recent college memory, with outstanding footwork, creativity and touch on the low-block. But without great athleticism at 6'8, effectiveness in NBA paint is an open question. Developing a face-up game and a turn-around jumper are both essential at the next level for a player his size.
Defense: Might be a "4.5" -- too slow to defend 4s like Lamar Odom and too short to defend 5s like Andrew Bogut. Will need to be hid on opponent's least effective front-court player. Has averaged a very unimpressive 0.6 blocks over his career.
Outside shot: Plays mostly in the paint, but has a good-looking stroke and is shooting 83.3 percent from the free throw line this season. A reliable pull-up jumper and three-point shot would be huge for career prospects.
Passing: Very fundamentally sound player who can have offense run through him in either low or high post, a valuable skill for a second-unit big man. Career averages of 1.3 assists to 1.6 turnovers.
Rebounding: Lack of athleticism makes it difficult to win battles above the rim, but uses low center of gravity, wingspan and soft hands effectively. Career average of 10.2 rebounds.
Best case: Toughness and skill level allows for career as starting power forward despite athletic limitations -- Luis Scola.
Worst case: Unable to create shots efficiently in the NBA while weight issues hinder defensive effectiveness -- Sean May.

All of these players would be rated ahead of SUllinger: Davis, Drummond, Miller, Beal. PJ3 IMO.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
We really should suck one more year. As much as I want to develop a winning mentality and want to see the team succeed and make a trip to the playoffs - the 2k12 draft is too good not to try to draft top 5.
We would likely get a future perennial star type player that allows us to compete with the multiple star superteams a few years down the line...

Watching Florida/Syracuse for Bradley Beal. Kid has a good frame, I'm concerned he's a bit undersized for the 2.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Haven't watched enough of him to really get a good feel but he appears to be built a lot like Eric Gordon.

Nope, the kid is ripped man. Shredded. Gordon has more baby fat on him.

And if the Wiz are able to get Anthony Davis, he could be a major attraction for free agents to want to come here.
Must see tv at noon today - UNC at Kentucky - 2 of the best college front courts we'll ever see.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
I'm really impressed with Jon Henson. He's bringing it today against Kentucky. Post ups, jump hooks, up and unders, sweet looking stroke, and tremendous length. He'll be a better version of Taj Gibson.

Game of the year right now b/w UNC & UK. I'd trade any roster in the NBA for the collection of talent on the floor in this game.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
I'd put Henson over Barnes. Barnes is a one or two dribble guy at most. He just can't get all the way to the rim.
Marshall's b-ball IQ and decision making are off the charts. He's like a HQ version of former UCONN PG Marcus Williams.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft
Wow, Barnes trying to take over but his handle won't let him. First time he did a few crossovers and forced up a contested fade away 3. Second time he attacks the basket and gets ripped cleanly.
