I don't know but that there aren't some feasible Wall trades.

None will happen, but I think it is never a bad thing to consider deals.

It isn't, and I can conceive of situations in which trading Wall might be a sensible move for the franchise but I'm not sure you've managed to hit on any. The first might be worth considering, because Davis seems like a slightly more attractive proposition as a college player than Wall was, and because the swap would give the team control of Davis for two extra years on a rookie deal, though I'm not wild about Augustin. The second is absolutely awful, really really bad stuff. Sacrificing assets of incredible value for cap space is quite possibly the worst strategy to build up from a poor base of talent.

We need to start resting Wall and Nene. Lets see what Mack can do with 40 minutes a night. Let's see if Ubiles can shoot, and lets see if Seraphin can keep prodcuing.

I'm intrigued by this super-tank lineup.

Mack
Crawford
Ubiles
Singleton
Seraphin

Bench: Vesely, Mason, D-leaguer or 2

Now thats what Im talking about CCJ.

This team has assets now. This is what you hope for. Look how Boston cashed in.

They have young assets. Cap and another high pick on the way. Everything is wide open. They can use the pick or start to package things.

As for Davis. Can they write it into his contract that he has to pluck the unibrow. I mean who walks around like that ? Have any college fans brought signs about it ?

Davis is a WAY, WAY, WAY better college prospect than Wall.

Davis is 18 and putting up a PER of 35.

This will sound absurd today, but in 5 years check and see if Cody Zeller isn't also having a better career than John Wall.

First of all, Wall was 19 as freshman. Cousins put up the higher PER, has the higher PER as a pro, and is in the argument as a better player than Wall. Those who say Wall is better will eventually site athleticism. I say he can't stop guys like Stuckey and he didn't throw it down in traffic today. Wall is very good. Wall is CLEARLY not among the all-time greats.

Anthony Davis could be an all-time great. He is so much better that I don't see how even a Wall fan cannot see it.

i don't overrate him at all. last game i got called a troll by a certain mod for being critical of wall. I call it like i see it.

i think wall has underachieved when you consider he was the unanimous #1 overall pick last season. his half court offense is atrocious, his decision making is at times poor(tunrovers), his man on man defense is crap, sucks at free throws too.

but at the same time i have seen too many flashes of greatness from him to give up on him and or trade him. and there are certain things he does consistently well. such as passing, which imo is the most important aspect of being an NBA point guard. he is averaging 8 assists through his first 2 seasons. how many rookie pg's have done that? he also is a terrific rebounder and shot blocker. 1 shot block per game is amazing for a PG.

wall is a complete player. i have my concerns but i am nowhere close to wanting to trade him. i wouldn't trade him for anyone this early in his career. this is only year 2 remember that.

plus this season is completely f'd because of the lockout and shortened schedule. i expect wall to beast in year 3 with a regular off season and normal schedule.

Getting back to the positives and off the Wall topic (bad judgment on my part to be honest about how I feel following a loss) the Wizards do have some assets.

Seraphin is an asset. Booker is an asset. Crawford, as much as I cannot stand his game, is a very tradable asset. Vesely is tall. Errr... well, he is young enough and makes enough smart plays until another team will want him. I'm not sure he's terrible at all. Below average--yes. Same with Singleton. Those two being rookies, they're conceivably assets.

At least the Wizards lost playing young guys.

Wall is not a franchise player. He is a good piece and PGs normally blossom in year 3. If he doesn't put it together this summer and start playing better, then its time to get rid of him. For now, I wouldn't trade him unless it is to get Anthony Davis.

PGs really are a dime a dozen in today's NBA.

Honestly, I think Wall is a very good FT shooter. Wall is not what the hype made him to be but he's actually better than I thought he would be.

Wall with Crawford have been looking pretty good for three quarters these last few games.

I don't want anybody to think I don't think he's above average--Wall clearly is. He makes a lot of young guy mistakes. I don't think he's sharp or a student of the game like a PG should be. Wall is tough, fast, sincere, a hard worker. He advances the ball and explodes to the rim with the best of them. He gets vertical better than 95% of PGs. However, he's not particularly competitive IMO. Other guys get the best of him at both ends, often, despite his talent. John's intensity wanes on defense, but he's getting better. He is simply not a good defender despite being a real good shot blocker for a PG. he doesn't get low enough and move well enough laterally to keep guards in front of him. Wall doesn't like to bump guys either.

Mack plays much better defense than Wall.

why are so many people on this forum so in love with anthony davis?

he has the build of a teenage boy. looking like mcgee jr. except skinnier, with a slightly better brain. davis is going to get owned in the paint once he joins the big boy league...

there isn't a single player in this draft that is going to make an immediate impact. that's why i don't support tanking... losing is for losers.

This trade Wall talk is ridiculous.

Aside from slightly higher TO's and disregarding 3p%, his first 2 year numbers are nearly identicle with Williams, Westbrook and Chris Paul, not to mention his blocks. Last time I checked, those guys had either a great coach or a superstar on their side (Boozer and David West weren't too shabby either). Wall has neither. We can't pass judgment until he has at least one of these two things.

^^

hmmm. Gotta disagree with the general sentiment. Davis has an extremely high bb iq, has shown signs of a face up game. Is a beast help defender who actually keeps blocks in play and has a skinny frame, but enormously broad shoulders. He will add muscle.

He is clearly the most can't miss college prospect since Griffin and one of the best in the past decade or so.

You are right that he won't come in and dominate in year one... But, seems likely you can build a franchise around him.

There is a grand canyon between him and #2.

Gotta agree with Hands, though. Presuming he doesn't end up with the Pacers or Celtics (for whom ugly is an artform) gotta wax that unibrow.

he's gonna fill out. i mean, he grew 8 inches in one summer, he can put on 20 pounds of muscle

I love how all these armchair GMs wanna trade Wall after every loss. Sorry but there is NO realistic trade offer out there that would get me to trade him. You don't trade a promising young talent because he isn't carrying one of the worst teams ever to the playoffs in his 2nd year.

Don't casually throw Paul in there. BS on that. Wall is nowhere near as good as Paul was day 1.

Westbrook's year two was very similar to Wall's.

Williams had a 3:1 assist/turnover ratio. Wall's is 2:1. Deron shot .456 FG and .322 3PT, both much better than John Wall. Williams was a much better shooter. Wall is a much better rebounder, and he also blocks shots as a PG.

Nobody is talking about trading Wall. I just said if the right deal was offered, if I were a GM I would definitely consider it. Washington has stunk for years and they will continue to stink unless radical changes are made. Wall is really good, but I would trade him for Anthony Davis without hesitation. I would trade him for other chances to be great, sooner.

I don't see how dealing Wall for Davis makes us better. We're already in pretty good shape at PF/C and if we dealt Wall we'd have nobody at PG. Mack is just a pair of shoes and no we aren't going to sign Deron Williams.

I know right Davis wont be any more better then wall can be. That just dumb to say. Wall will be an allstar some point. I hope we can land Athony Davis as well.

Ah, but you can't quite bring yourself to say that Williams was out and out better than Wall, which is reasonable of you because he wasn't appreciably. You're right about Paul but Chris Paul is on his way to the Hall of Fame and into the pantheon of great point guards in the history of the league. If we get a Derrick Rose sort of career arc I think we'll have done alright.
