I know he'd never come here but Brandon Roy has stated that he wants to play in the NBA next season.

He'll likely be had for the veteran's minumum.

Wall/Mack
Roy/Crawford
Kidd-Gilchrist/Singleton
Booker/Vesely
Nene/Seraphin

If he was healthy, that team would be fantastic to watch. But he'll probably head to a contender (or Phoenix, due to their apparent ability to resurrect the careers of the injured).

Anything left in that tank?

I was under the impression that that knee was pretty much shot.

Via Wiretap:

Jeff Green Drawing Interest From 12 To 14 Teams

David Falk, agent for Jeff Green, has had exploratory contract talks with "12 to 14 teams."

"I know that (the Celtics) want Jeff to come back, from (general manager) Danny (Ainge) to the owners to Doc and to his teammates," Falk said. "He loves Boston. We're waiting to see what happens with KG, what happens with Ray...There are other teams that could be very, very interesting to him around the league that will also have cap room.

"We've picked out three or four teams, of which Boston is one, that he has a high level of interest in talking to. I would say that Boston is the incumbent, but I've learned in this business not to assume things. Nothing is guaranteed."

Falk promises to drive a hard bargain.

"With the possible exception of (Brooklyn point guard) Deron Williams, I think that Jeff will probably be the No. 1 unrestricted free agent on the market," Falk said. "It's not like we have LeBron (James) and (Dwyane) Wade and all these guys floating around.

"I'd be very surprised if Deron Williams winds up anywhere besides Dallas or New Jersey (Brooklyn). So the next guy in the pecking order is Jeff Green.”

It's pretty much a given we're one of these teams.

Any interest in kicking the tires on Lou Williams? He will almost definitely cost too much, but he seems like a great fit as a scorer/shooter alongside Wall while covering the PG.

There is probably a lot of curiosity surrounding Green, the question is how-much is he worth? A rebuilding Celtic team would probably like to have him back for a modest price.

I would be interested...seems to be a better version of our man Crawford.

^ Well, he's presumably going to be looking for MLE type cash on a longterm deal. That would makes sense for a contender that's looking for a 6th man. But I don't see him as a starter or as a guy who will make much of a difference on a rebuilding team. If we're just looking for scoring pop from our reserve backcourt, I'd rather get a guy who's overpaid but on a shorter deal.

I think it would make sense for the Wizards to put feelers out on Roy. However I think there are a number of contenders who might want to take a chance on him.

Orlando - assuming they are desperately trying to build around Howard
Boston - need a SG to replace Allen, with Avery Bradley they can afford to take a risk that it doesn't work out
Chicago - I think they make some high risk moves next season and SG is likely a need

I'm thinking Miami. With his knee problem, he's probably got to settle down mostly as a catch and shoot guy - and with his high BBIQ - Miami's a nice fit. With Miller probably retiring (He can barely limp - much less run.), he fits right in - unfortunately. Whatever team he chooses, I hope Roy makes it back.

No team should be counting on Roy as a full-time player. He's a part-time player with his knees. Whoever signs him better be ready to have him miss time.

BTW, Goran Dragic was drafted 45th by the Spurs.

And his brother Zoran (I'm not making this up.) is planning on playing with the Rockets' summer league team. They could be teammates.

Zoran Dragic is a treat because he's your man if you've ever asked yourself "what would it be like if Goran Dragic were two inches taller but also generally not very good at the game of basketball?" Also in terms of performance he's not notably inferior to the notable international draft options (mid to high 50s in two point percentage, between 6.5 and 8 rebounds per 40 and between 2 and 3 steals per 40 depending on the season you catch him in). This is not a good year for international prospects.

Have we given up on Ryan Anderson being a good fit for us? I love KS but having Anderson, Nene, Wall and either MKG or Beal would make a really nice all-around line up.
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

No. Anderson would be a good fit. But he's a RFA and Orlando is desperate to retain talent so Howard won't bolt. The general consensus is that Ilyasova is more easily obtainable.

RA was also exposed in the playoffs. Ilyasova appears to be the better player
and is UNrestricted. Someone here also posted that he has stated that he
intends to be completely mercenary and go play for whoever pays him
the most.

My Dream offseason (that's not completely delusional)

draft Beal, Crowder, Denmon
sign Ilyasova
re-sign Singleton and Martin
A lot of what we call 'thought' is just mental activity

I see no way we can retain Singleton if we also sign Ilyasova. Singleton won't stick around to be our 4th string PF. Heck, if we sign Ilyasova, I don't even see room for Booker on the roster.

I'd rather spend our cap room on Nicolas Batum, Danny Green, or Brandon Rush.

good point

but maybe that raises the question of whether we should spend X on Ilyasova
or 0.3 - 0.5 X on Singleton. Which makes sense for this team at this time?

same thing re Danny Green vs Martin although in that case, the differential
(or multiplier) would be presumably closer.
