93% of posters on this board want EG gone at least by the end of the season.

I thought it would be interesting to find out what folks thought at the Verizon Center. So... I stood by lines at the Hard Times Café while folks grabbed their Chili, Wings, Nachos, Dogs & Beer and asked them if EG should be retained.

Specific Question: Do you think the Wizard's General Manager Ernie Grunfeld should be retained. I got nearly 50 responses before I was shoed away.

Yes - Immediately
Yes - At the end of the season
No - he is doing a good job
Don't know who Ernie Grunfeld is or I don't have an opinion

Yes Immediately - 3
Yes At the end of the season - 22
No - he is doing a good job - 5
Don't know who Ernie Grunfeld is - 19

So there is a higher ratio there that wants to keep EG - 16%. Still lots of folks in like don't like what he has done, I was surprised by the level of knowledge. Still 39% didn't know what I was talking about - so the issue probably isn't front and center for Ted.

Regardless, I think if Ted dismissed EG, it wouldn't be met with any resistance. And local talk radio personalities treat him with distain.

That was awesome what you did, thanks!!!

Ted is probably very-much aware that 30-40% of people attending Wiz games have no-idea who Ernie Grunfeld, it keeps his co-dependency with Ernie ever-flowing.

How did you come up with 16%? 5 out of 49 is roughly 10%.

5/30 (only counted the ones who knew who EG was)... I guess I could round up to 17%

It was definitely fun... One of the guy asked if not knowing EG was like not knowing the president of the US.

I asked the question of the guy who came and (politely) asked me to leave - he just laughed and said that EG was a good customer :)

And one women totally went off on him - I was surprised by her knowledge.

 OMG! If you are following the Tap, the Wizards are chasing at-least 3 point guards: Beno, Miller, and Ridour. Who-else? Will the Maynor 2-year deal be the last straw for Ted, even if we make the play-offs?

   I need to stop following Kendal Marshall's stats, I cannot cease being stunned at how-badly Grunfeld f**ked this up.

Funny thing you say that because I feel the same exact way. Every single time Marshall hands out 10+ assists I want to bang my head on the desk.

I know a lot of people have already labeled Leonsis and think he isn't doing the job. For me to be with that group, Ernie will need to get extended this summer. If Leonsis does do that, he will easily be one of the worst owners in the league in my eyes. Having a bad coach, players, etc come and go, but a bad owner can stick around for 20+ years. This is my nightmare.

You know what. There is actually a worse front office then the Wizards have had.

Its NY. Wow that organization has been a hot mess. Blown cap and no picks. All they have is their name.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1934 ... -picks-goe

And look at all the picks and players they gave up.

http://www1.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

Wow. That is amazingly bad front office. Looks a lot like what Abe would do. Everytime they start getting it together, they would screw it up by being impatient. So if the Wizards under Abe has more money and a more popular city, they would look like NY.

Best they can do it resign Melo for something like 15/16M and hope they can trade him for assets. If they sign him for to much, they are just going to screw themselves more.

Pull the handle and flush this team. Build around Tim Hardaway Jr. Except the truth. You can't fix this broken pile of crap. Its not winning any titles like this. Hell, they don't even look to make the playoff in a weak East. LOL

I would add Brooklyn hasn't done a very good job and is in an equally poor situation. Denver has largely hosed themselves as well.

Then Washington would be in the next tier of repeated shooting themselves in the foot.

Lopez had a season ending injury very early in the season. Granted they didn't look to well good out of the gates, but when you have two new starters it could take awhile to gel. Look at them now without Lopez. They seem to be playoff bound.

Agreed, but payroll/picks makes it a bit of a hot mess going forward...

I think DEN owns NY's pick this year... so not completely.

Good point, and a couple of 2nd round picks as well... more from a cap space perspective. and even that is only bad for a couple of years.

The Wizards have a #6 pick in his third year who averages 3 points per game more than my dead grandmother.

The Wizards have a rookie picked at #3 who doesn't see floor time even when The Wiz are down by 18.
