Not over yet. I mean it's close but we can't bring the ball up the court but WVa is not a great FT shooting team.

Stick to the NBA and your Randy hatred. They are just getting physically mauled. Turge did a terrific job with this team this year. He had one point guard and he is hurt. Give me a f-ing break.
How can he only have one PG? Does he not develop anyone in his pipeline or does MD not actually recruit well? Also, outside of that latent illegal screen, it isn't a terribly called game. WVU is just a better coached team, which is hysterical. Their gimmick works, and it seems the MD were not prepared for this at all. No need to be salty.

Agree, MD was also out-couched tonight for sure. MD lacked energy and focus, they didn't match-up well physically either.

It was a GREAT season.
I like Bob Huggins. His boys, no, young MEN, played tougher and better.
Good game. WVU forced turnovers and were quicker to the boards.
They also got the calls. Horrible officiating that was at least biased at worst criminal. Wouldn't shock me at all if two of the three officials were very biased or maybe one seriously on the take.
But they (refs) didn't make Maryland turn it over so much.
Dez Wells had more turnovers than points. IIRC he had 8 turnovers and 7 points.
"Flipped them like a bunch of pancakes". Clark Kellogg on what the Mountaineers did to the Terrapins.
I was happy to see Layman throw that dunk down.
SMOTRYZ played his hardest. Made one nice three to get to 51-56.
Cevosky played big.
Dodd played big.
Unfortunately, Nickens and Wiley missed shots.
Pack just isnt a PG.
Ram probably should have played a lot more.
I'm a fan of Huggins. Fat coach, a man after my own heart.
His ((Bob Huggins') dad at the game was great to see!
Melo Trimble's Mom, but not a Dad, was heartwarming.
Trimble played his heart out. I was RELIEVED to see him on the sidelines. He's been the reason for their success.
He's better than Dez.
Wells got the best thing he needed. His weak ball handling was exposed. He needs to put a WHOLE LOT of PRAYER, FOCUS, AND TIME into tightening up his handle and most of all his MENTAL GAME.
Otherwise, he's ready for the NBA.

Not a Thuggy Bear fan but he can coach. They foul on nearly every play, but if you can get away with it, and you aren't that talented an offensive team, that's the way you win. They are just a tougher team and Maryland never faced a team outside of Minnesota that pressed like that this year. Nobody really presses like that outside of Louisvlle.
As for Dez, nobody has had more heart on Maryland in a long time. I don't think he's NBA-ready in terms of height or handle. His shot isn't good enough but he plays so hard and is such a good athlete, somebody will take a chance on him in the second round.

To add to that, if you watched the team all year, Turge did a fantastic job with a lot of holes, especially up front. They lost Nick Faust, Seth Allen, Shaq Cleare and Charles Mitchell. All were additions by subtraction, esp. Faust. I like the way this team played this year and we'll miss Dez's toughness. Carter will help alleviate that though Wiley/Nickens have to step up and improve their games. Don't expect much from Layman. He is what he is-soft.
It might not have been a shining moment for Turge, Dez, Trimble or Layman tonight, but they did pretty well for a team picked 10th in the Big 10. Refs were bad but not on the take. They can't call a foul on every play despite the fact that dirty screen on Trimble was a horrible no-call. Huggins gets more respect because of his longevity and Md hasn't been in the NCAA's for five years.

Probably so.
Then again, Dez Wells isnt turning it over 20 times against Kentucky.
Styles make a fight. It's all about the matchups. Maryland was tight as a drum against Huggy Bear's Mountaineers. Not Trimble. He has Sam Cassell giant sized huervos. Sp?
They would have made Kentucky sweat.
Oh well.....nice season. I am happy about the basketball program.
If Trimble doesn't go pro, I EXPECT Diamond Stone will pick the Terps.
I want Wisconsin to go all the way to the Final. Then for Dekkar and the other F to both join Big Frank Kaminsky and declare for the draft.
Maryland will have one hell of a team next season if they get Diamond S

Agreed.
I think it should go 50-50 for kudos between Turgeon and Trimble. They are like a heart and a brain in terms of vital organs. They were on the same wavelength or same pulse.
It was a beautiful thing all season!
Trimble and Turgeon looked great before the nation IMO.
Also, props to Doug Gottlieb for putting poor officiating on full blast!

Another point:
They have a little guy coming in from JC, IIRC. Brantley or Brawley. Looks like a pure shooter and a distributor on tape.

You should have seen how stupid they looked last season!
Nick Faust and year before him Pe'Shon Howard were turnover machines most of the time. Seth Allen was a 6-2 at best scoring guard. Dez Wells was like he was today at times. Turnovers were really bad in past seasons under Turgeon
Alex Len had HORRIBLE guards.
This Maryland only averaged 12 turnovers a game all season, thanks to Trimble.
West Virginia just did their thing to a Maryland team that went as far as their poise allowed.

No offense, nuposse04, but I do agree with 80sballboy on the job Turgeon did.
Some of his young men seem like they need more faith in themselves. A little nasty would help Layman. Dez Wells was mad about the officiating and he kept trying TOO hard.
Maryland needed a goon this game.
After the moving screen on Trimble, if I was a coach I would have gone John Cheney and had my goon put a really hard foul on Staten.
Props to Bob Huggins. His kids were straight gangster out there.

Thugs need love, too.
Dez is undersized with a bad handle. Yep. I agree.
But I think he's a good defender. He's a great athlete. On a fast break in the NBA Dez can be a lot like Fred Jones, former slam dunk champion out of U of Washington.
80sballboy, I kinda hope Dez goes undrafted. Wall's his boy. Camp invite would be automatic.

I didn't see it that way.
West Virginia was favored.
Dez Wells turned it over a zillion times.
Early on, the 50-50 balls went to WVU.
They had a veteran, dominant big man. They have great offensive rebounding. Maryland all season has struggled to rebound.
They lead the nation in forcing turnovers.
Turgeon did not coach his guys to turn the ball over. He didn't say don't rebound.
Trimble got hurt. They would not have lost by 10 without Trimble.
I think Turgeon was solid today and terrific all season.
The better team won IMO.

With 5:00 left in first half, we quit sharing the ball. WVa also drove down the lane at will against us and owned us down low. Turgeon stuck with his starters too-long, the other young guy with length (name?) that did well in just a few min should have played over the stiffs that most of the game.
With Trimble out we probably didn't have a shot anyway.

Huggins' Daughters Spew Tasteless Insults at Dez Wells
Following West Virginia’s win over Maryland, Jenna Huggins, the daughter of Mountaineers coach Bob Huggins and an assistant to the team, took to twitter to personally attack Maryland senior Dez Wells, who was already in tears after playing in his final college basketball game.
Her attacks were focused on sexual assault accusations Wells was faced with, and expelled for, in 2012 while at Xavier -- charges that ended up being dropped and an expulsion that won Wells a settlement against the school last year.
Jenna Huggins made her twitter profile private shortly after she tweeted the tasteless remarks, but you can view a screenshot of her tweets below.
UPDATE: Huggins' other daughter, Jacqueline, also made inappropriate comments towards Wells.

The apple doesn't fall far from the trees. Maybe I'm a bad sport about it, but that moving pick to take out Trimble had no place in college sports - or any sports. They obviously went after him - and it's no coincidence that it happened right after he made a 3 pointer. The game was over right there. WV can't lose by enough to Kentucky. As long as Huggins is there, I'll root for whoever's playing WV.
