All right, well damn if I'm not amped. Just got clued-in that a handful of cuts off the upcoming Wolfmother album are on YouTube. They were supposed to be one and done as a band -- which would have been a crime. But, the singer just joined up with a few new guys to keep Wolfmother alive. Christ, I used to be behind the scene. These days I'm just behind. Anyway, "Cosmic Egg" might just end up the best rock album of the year. Might be a double album. It still needs a lyric as good as Manson's latest, "Everyone will come, everyone will come to my funeral to make sure that I stay dead." But, this album is crack. Looks like my list of the best, modern rockers with 70's, classic-rock style just grew by a band: Jack White, Black Keys and Wolfmother. I posted all their hits off the last album ("Joker and the Thief," "Woman" and "Dimension") earlier in this thread. Some people say Wolfmother is the new AC/DC. That sounds about right considering the new single.

Ladies and Gentlemen, as the kids say, "Please experience WOLFMOTHER!!!"

Some Incubus to throw into the mix of great music in this thread. I'm seeing them for a fourth time later this month. Have to put an ace live song of theirs.

Speaking of reggae, here's a blend I made. (Or "mash-up" if you prefer). The beat is from King Kong, the lyrics are from DC's own Head Roc

Language not for sensitive ears.

Edit: The link is from zshare

Pretty cool, Mort. Nicely done. I have some mash-ups to post, but kinda in a laid back Sunday afternoon, strum the git'tar mood. Maybe tomorrow.

Street Sweeper Social Club. Tom Morello's (of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave) new project. New album (well, a month old). The new Living Colour. Sorry JWiz, likin' them better than Sevendust. If you are into RATM, Lenny Kravitz, or Living Colour, this album is for you.

Barely.. Nice. I forgot about Delinquent Habits. They were sort of gimmicky, but they made cool music anyways.

That Busdriver track was pretty cool. Interesting take on the "Flute Thing" sample.

Here are a few of my favorite underground-ish hip-hop tracks from the 90's (All are explicit):

Akinyele - Dear Diary

Souls of Mischief - Step to My Girl

M.O.P. - Brownsville

Trigger Tha Gambler - Bust

O.G.C. - Gunn Clap

Saafir - Battle Drill

Killer clips, Mort. Keep posting. Yeah, I've always been a big Souls of Mischief fan. That song is classic. And yeah, Busdriver's IMO the best MC out there. And he's gonna carry hip hop to the post-hip hop era (when the music splits back into old hip hop and post-hip hop -- more electronica).

Guess here's a good place (since you mentioned gimmicky rap) to pay tribute to the man who I think is on another level in terms of MCin' -- both because he's a lunatic and because his flow is unlike everyone else. The greatest kitsch rapper ever (better than Biz Markie or Digital Underground). As I said, with kitsch and experimental you either love it or hate it. I hit one of his clips earlier, but he deserves a section for all his characters:

I didn't see your post on street-sweeper social club before my last post.

I love the Coup, and Ioved Rage, but for some reason I just can't get down with SSSC. For all the fire Boots brings content-wise his delivery is as laid back as they come. To me he just just isn't a good match for the rage-style backing from Morello. I'm all for contrasting styles, but this just sounds a little... off. Bring back Zach. And tell Boots to do some more stuf like this:

I wouldn't necessarily call kool keith "gimmicky," unless being batsh*t crazy is a gimmick. Maybe it is. I once went to a tower records in-store appearance (when the Black Elvis album came out) and got him to sign a couple records (Including the Cenobites album and the "You Live at Home with Your Mom" single) On one of them he wrote: "skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii," and said the word "ski" as he signed it. Later that evening he appeared at 9:30 club wearing an Olowakandi jersey, and this crazy emmer-effer threw fried chicken into the crowd. It was a great show.

Here's a Cenobites track I heartily enjoy:

You're Late

That album was on the Fondle 'Em label, which had the coolest name for a record label ever, and put out some of the freshest jams during the late 90's indie hip-hop boom.

Man, dig those tracks too. I knew a few of um -- for instance, I know pretty much Beatnuts' entire catalogue. But, those Shyheim and Honda cuts are fresh to me and classics. Nice selections. Yeah, post more often. Love to undercover new stuff.
