Nene is signed for 3 more years at $13M/year. David West just signed a fresh contract for $12M/yr for 3 more years.

Their career numbers indicate that they have been very comparable players, though I think Nene is the better defender due to his size/ability to play center.

However this past season, West's numbers were far better.

Nene is two years younger than David West.

How wonderful would it be if Nene's crappy season was an aberration due to injury? He started out hurt, rushed back too fast when the team started terribly, never got healthy and never played like himself.

How wonderful would it be if he came back healthy and reverted to the player that he was? As much as we talk about our young backcourt, Nene is the key. If healthy and playing to his potential, this guy puts us on a complete other level. I get that he's on the wrong side of 30. But he's 31 in September (just 18 months odler than Chris Bosh), not 39. West will be 33 then. Dirk is 35. Duncan and KG are both 37. Let's get Nene on whatever "program" those guys are and have the best season we've had in 30 years, mkay?

Nene shouldn't play more than 28 mpg to keep him healthy.

Who is going to play the remaining 20 mpg? Vesely? You know Booker's going to be injured.

Maybe it's the hair, but Nene looks 20 pounds lighter in these clips than he does now. I really think all his health issues stem from the fact that he's so much heavier now. He needs to go on the Duncan plan where he loses a ton of weight and becomes a much quicker, lighter, healthier player.

He only played 27 mpg last year, but yes, I agree. His minutes should be monitored closely.

Well, this is why I'm cautiously okay with Jamison as a stopgap on the veteran's minimum. But even if that doesn't happen, I think those 20 minutes will be covered by a combo of Seraphin, Booker, Porter, and Ariza.

We're clearly going to experiment some time without a traditional "4" on the floor as a means to get Porter and Ariza (assuming he;'s not dealt) some minutes, as well as to space the floor for Wall to operate.

Nene is an interesting player. When he's rolling, his impact in all phases is not reflected in the traditional box score at all. His 13 million per year is a bargain when he's healthy.

We're not going to deal Nene. Nene trades get kicked around frequently but we won't move him. And I'm not convinced we should.

At the 19 min mark Ted mentions some Nene video that is in Spanish

Says Nene is working out and has lost some weight.

Anyone seen this video. I tried to do some searching and didn't find it.

24 min mark, starts in on Martel that leads to comments about the training staff staff and then Okafor. Says Okafor is a poster child for taking care of his body and he worked with Martel and now Nene.

Says Nene has reshaped his body. I want to see this video.

And what about Okafor. He helped Wall. He helped Webster. Now Nene. He is friends with Trevor A and he said he was going to work on his body. Wonder if he will help Otto get stronger.

And in close, Ted echo the plain I thought they were on. They are building to land that one more marque player to get them into championship mode.

Wow. Starting to get that feeling like they are building a real fraternity.

Feels like the team is a Kevin Love or DeMarcus Cousins away from being a contender. Don't know about having the money for one of those guys though. Especially if we want to keep Oak or Nene around.

This team could probably contend as is if Wall, Beal, and Porter all reach their potential. Especially if we get some sort of unexpected house money like Vesely or Seraphin coming out of nowhere and realizing their potential as well. Those two could be like cash sitting in your pants pocket in the hamper, waiting for you to do laundry and find it one day down the road.

Will have to see the Nene's progression to believe it. For now I'm assuming 65 games outta him this season. When Nene was in shape in Denver he was pretty intimidating athletically.

As Steve said, if our wing players pan out as well as porter we may be able to contend...we shouldn't need a juggernaut down low to contend long term. Someone who is above average, yes but I don't know if we "need" Cousins.

I would really like to see this video Ted spoke of.

Its not in the Monumental sports video library.

Ted specially said Nene has lost weight and how that will help with the foot. And he mentioned him working out with Okafor. When did they do that ? Where is Nene right now ?

He makes it sound like he did something similar to what Duncan did.

This is what I expect Nene to do so its great to hear Ted comment on it.

A lighter, in shape Nene can be a real force. Nene has a great blend of talent. He is a great passing big man. Almost like a PG in the post. He would hit Trevor A and Webster cutting the basket real well. That helps since neither is a great ball handler.

Nene has a great set of options.

Pass.
Step back
Or quick first step for a dunk. Its this last one that he was having the most problem with and that was effecting the other two options. Kind of like Wall not having a jumper effect options for him.

He can do it from the block or free through line. I lined him at the line more last year. Better to P&R

A healthy Nene to go with Wall with a jumper, post game and corner 3, with Beal in year 2 and Webster returning .... with Trevor A and Okafor...

If things line up like they look like they are, this could be a real nice year for the Wizards.

Biggest challenge for them is going to be lack of playoff experience for Wall and Beal and the team as a whole playing together. One game of missed opportunities because of lack of experience is all it takes to lose a series in the playoffs.

Hopefully they land a favorable match up.

Did I miss something with Ted? He looks like he lost a lot of weight. He's grayer but looks really fit. Good for him!

So anyone seen this video Ted was talking about yet.

I want to see the new Nene in shape and lighter.

“He’s doing great. He has an off-season home in Denver so he has been spending some time there,” Wizards coach Randy Wittman told CSN Washington. “Monday though Friday, it’s physical therapy. It was important for him to get his body back to health…

“It’s not so much with Nene that you’re looking to develop a lot of his game. Nene has been there,” Wittman said. “It’s important for him to do what he has to do so when he comes back here at the end of September that he’s ready to go. There are no restrictions. He’s doing great. He’s felt as good as he’s felt in a long time.”

NENE TO VERSION CENTER SEPT 1 TO START TRAINING FOR TRAINING CAMP END OF SEPT

Nene has done exactly what the Wizards had hoped this off-season.

Nothing.

By the end of this month, the 7-foot power forward/center will be back at Verizon Center and training with the Wizards.

He’ll train here for four weeks at Verizon Center leading into training camp which begins in the last week of September.

Nene also has spent time in his native Brazil, helping promote the Wizards' Oct. 12 preseason game there. When they play the Chicago Bulls in Rio de Janeiro, it'll be the first NBA game on the country which will host the 2016 Olympics.

Wittman: "He got in town Aug. 30. He's been on the floor. He feels good. He's had a whole summer where he didn't have to worry about the pounding and the stuff he did last summer having the injuries he did and having to play on the (Brazil) national team and never gave his body a chance to recover. He's feeling good. He looks good. I'm pretty pleased with that. I anticipate him being ready to go. When did we play our last game? Five months ago? He's done a lot of good work this summer, not only from a rest standpoint but from physical therapy. He's built his strength back up. I anticipate we'll head into the season with no restrictions."

Let's see how durable he is. If anyone has a current pic of Nene, please post.

Nene is looking good.

Hmm. Not sure I heard what I wanted to hear regarding him playing center though.

I've actually never heard Nene speak...but I appreciate his honesty, even if it is kind of brutal. I still think he give 10-15 minutes of center a game...luckily there aren't too many absurdly physical teams early on. Odd that he isn't 100% though...That might be TOO honest.

When was the last time if ever that Nene has his knees cleaned up.

Seems like he has a lingering knee issue separate from the foot issue.

He should at least get one of those plasma treatment and get his knee scoped to clean it up some.

Has he ever done anything like that ? If not, he should do that next off season.
