Russell exited the NCAA Tournament by going 3-19 against Arizona. TJ McConnell bothered him. Fortunately, I have learned from a past occurrence not to put much stock in one performance.
Many years ago Jared Jeffries destroyed Carlos Boozer as Illinois eliminated Duke en route to the Final Four. Maryland ended up defeating the Hoosiers in the title game.
The Wizards selected Jeffries and Juan Dixon. Boozer slipped to round two, despite really strong stats.
What a hit-or-miss draft!

Scola at the bottom of round two!
Gooden three picks before Nene, with Nikola Tskitishvil and Dajuan Wagner between them.
Nene followed by Chris Wilcox (!!!l, then Amare Stoudemire, then Caron Butler.
The Wizards actually selected okay: 11 Jeffries, 17 Dixon, 39 Juan Carlos Navarro.
Future Wizards Drew Gooden, Nene, Caron Butler, Roger Mason, Lonny Baxter, Darius Songaila, and Rasual Butler were part of the 2002 draft.
In retrospect that was a pretty strong draft year.
