Either Harper or Flagg have been the number one so far on Tankathon.

Demin has an impressive array of strengths/weaknesses (5 - 4+ areas, 3 3+ areas, on negative side 1 3- area TOs, 4 1- areas)

While remembering it's still early days for this years rookies, Reed Sheppard had an amazing page on strength/weakness
going into last years draft, but so far, not much impact to show for it.

BYU has had a cupcake schedule so far, no top 20 opponents.

Just watched them play a decent AZ State team coached by Bobby Hurley and they looked really good. They have a good team.

And Demin looked bad against them. Good passing but that's all.

I thought he was good, very active defensively and orchestrated the entire offense with his passing. The shooting wasn't because he was overmatched, he got good looks they weren't falling. I expect his shot will come around. He's a good player.

A good college player but I haven't seen anything to make me think he is a top 5 pick in this draft.

He would need to show something against good competition for me to take him seriously. I have a hard time seeing him playing PG in the NBA.

We'll see what he really can do come tournament time. He'll be in the Big 12 Conference Tournament, and then in the NCAA Tournament. That should provide a good opportunity to showcase his all around game against high level competition and in pressure situations.

As a NBA prospect he's a SF.

I still say Derik Queen is a great pick for the Wizards.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

And not commenting myself about it (Derik Q) one way or the other, I doubt you move away from that opinion
any time soon. You are nothing if not consistent. :D

It seems that we're on a trajectory to be amongst a clump of similarly tanking teams, our odds for getting #1 are a long-shot, so I am looking hard at 3-6.

At 3-5 I have

Tre Johnson
Kasparas jakucionis
Jeremiah Fears

Based on what I've seen those 3 guys have good NBA skills right now. After that are guys like Ace with question marks.

Queen laid a big ole turd at UW.

Horrible performance.

Ace just played a game without Harper. He dropped 39/8 with 4 blocks and no turnovers. :o

They lost the game though.

First time I had seen him play. One road game for a freshman kid. The terps as a whole didn't play well.

Ace Bailey is a fine consolation prize if we miss out in Harper or Flagg. Plays as a 6’9+” guard. 3 level scoring even if he’s been relying on that midrange floater game early in the season. He’s got smooth range when he’s on. Seems like he can make shots even without looking at the basket. Maker of difficult shots in traffic.

He’s finding his range and role playing next to Harper since he’s used to playing with the ball in his hands. But fills up the stat sheet in other ways. Rebounds. Steals. Blocks. He’ll get stronger, kid has a thick neck for his frame, I expect he’ll take weight well. I can see him playing well next to Bub.

And in the positionless basketball era he’d fit in interchangeably with Bilal. George. Playing as a face-up wing 1-4. Replacing Kuz as a younger upgrade with a bright future.

I don't like Queens body-type, he looks like he is going to be a heavy plodder type when he's a grown man.

Yeah that is a big reason why Ace is polarizing, and not in my top 5. On the season he has 8 assists at 27 turnovers.

Oddly struggling from the foul line as well.

He does put some effort into his defense though.

I’m OK on this team with having a designated gunner. We regularly have five assists from players like Sarr and Bilal. Other than Jordan Poole, we have nobody who wants to take the hard shot. We lack offensive mismatches and finishers. If what we get in this draft is a guy who is aggressive on both offense & defense and will call his own number when we need a bucket seems to me it strengthens the team.

The thing is in this draft there are guys who will take tough shots who are much more complete players. I am looking forward to the Texas vs OU matchups, Tre vs Fears. We get that matchup twice.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Ace Bailey turns out to be the best player in the 2025 draft. He’s less developed than Flagg and Harper but I think he has much more upside and raw potential.
