not true. I dont remember the McGee hate at all when he got picked. the booker hate was because we moved up to get him when he would of been there in the 2nd round

The difference is Booker has at least one NBA skill which is rebounding, and he hustles. Vesely can't shoot OR rebound but he can finish, oh boy he can finish at the rim! If I sound bitter or angry it's because I am, Ernie is not the type to take a risk on draft day, he plays it safe or makes some asinine trade.I would rather take Tristan Thompson at this point. I'm more excited about the 18th and 34th pick than I am about the 6th.

I hope this is not typical EG during this draft. If he drafts anything but athleticism and toughness he should be fired. I hope he does not make one of his crazy trades where he gets fleeced. I do not want him to draft anyone that did not play on American soil last year. I like Kanter but I would rather have the 6 and 18 pick than to move up to get him. I have a feeling I am going to be mad after the draft is over.

Vesely is not an horrible shooter...I would say, he's an average shooter, and has good basketball IQ. With his height and speed, he can be very effective defending the SF position. On the other hand, this kid should bring a plaque saying: "Do not use me as PF, I will be abused by any PF in NBA except by Bargnani ". I'd rather pick Vesely instead of Valanciunas with the #6, assuming that Kanter will not be available, which is probable, because I'm not seeing Cavs, Jazz, Wolves or even the raptors, passing on him.

We were screwed the second we fell to the 6th spot. EG missing on an other Euro stiff is not what I had in mind for this teams future.

Thank you. The collective arrogance of what amounts to a bunch of hobbyists continues to fascinate me. Everyone here just seems to assume that we have access to close to -- if not all -- the decision makers that NBA front offices do.

I really want Kanter, yet I admit that may prove to be a stupid want. Wizards fans are a bunch of ugly chicks at the prom who are swooning over a guy because he's actually expressed interest in us. Given how long it's been since someone publicly declared a desire to dance with us, we're not asking many questions.

Dave Hopla may have promised Ernie he can turn Vesely into a 75% FT shooter and 40% from three. More advanced statistics (not the ones available via DX) may say Kawhi Leonard is an all-defense talent. Who knows. I'm willing to submit to the fact that I -- and even the most certain among us like Ruzious, Ji, tontoz, WizD, CCJ -- don't know how this is going to turn out in 1, 3 or 5 years. There's information and expertise that we actually (gasp) don't have.

Everyone relax.

Fire Ernie! ha ha

eg is a **** idiot i'm convinced now

This pick sucks. Jamison and Butler will no longer be in their prime IF this project in McGee ever pans out. WTF is Ernie thinking.

It was my initial thought that McGee would be the pick. I was hoping I was wrong but all one had to do is look at EG's draft record.

Funny, for a team that needs defense, EG goes out and select's the worst defender of all the draftable players in this year's draft.
Let's hope we drafted him to trade him... doubt it though.

There better be a freaking trade in the works for this stiff... I hope like heck he's on his way to Memphis.

wooooo another project guys!

And that's just the first two pages.

By the way, props to AgentOvechkin and Ruzious. After 3 consective pages of exclusively over-the-top negative commentary on the McGee pick, it was those guys who first indicated some level of approval:

AgentOvechkin wrote:I said that we can afford a player like mcgee (project type player)...come on guys his potential is limitless. See what he does first..

Ruzious wrote:I'm pleasantly surprised Ernie made this pick. It took guts. He could be a total bust, but you take a chance on a legit 7 footer with a 7'6.5 wingspan who bulked up to 240, has strong legs, tremendous speed for his size. The only physical negative is an ordinary first step.

Now, it's up to the coaches to work on the mental parts.

Good gutsy pick.

I bet he would have taken Speights if he was there.

From ESPN.com...

Texas PF Tristan Thompson met with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert on Monday.
According to ESPN's Chad Ford, there is a "growing comfort level" between the Cavs and Thompson as the No. 4 overall pick. That isn't good news for J.J. Hickson, as Thompson is a high-upside power forward that can board. Note that stats guru John Hollinger rated Thompson as the third-best prospect in the draft

This would reopen one of either Kanter or Jonas likely being there at 6, correct?

I just hope we have the testicular fortitude to take Jonas at the 6 if he's there regardless of the year overseas.

Yeah, this board - in general - knows what it's talking about. Other than CCJ, I thought McGee was overall a well-received pick. And I wouldn't say Booker was hated. He wasn't everyone's favorite, but there wasn't much to pick from, and people mostly realized that. And I seriously doubt he'll go down as a steal. At best, he'll be a backup tweener forward, imo.

Edit - It looks like Nate was right about the Javale reaction.

Even McGee's biggest fan, CJJ, had something bad to say about the McGee pick.

When all Jay Bilas can say positive is he's got long arms ... You're screwed!

"Needs to move his feet better." "Another year in school would have helped him". "Needs to learn the game"

Already have a bunch of young and/or soft bigs, and one with MAJOR character problems and you go and draft Javalle McGee.

Damned consistent Wizards. Once again they've drafted an immature kid who will not help them anytime soon.

Haywood's solid as hell at C. Etan's coming back. You've got Blatche.

This is one STUPID ARSED PICK unless Andray's traded. Even then, I think McGee's not that good.

YUK!

Somebody in the Wizards organization needs to get fired. EG this pick is like tasting Shaq's ass.

But I agree that the Vesely hate is getting out of hand.

I would be happy with this draft:

#6 - Vesely
or
Kanter

#18 - T. Honeycutt
or
Markieff Morris,
Kenneth Faried,
M. Brooks (reminds me a young Kobe Bryant)

#34 - Nolan Smith

^ I still see the Raptors taking Kemba. He seems like the kind of guy that Duane Casey can attach himself to as a leader on the floor.

I would love a JV pick in that it would ensue us another high lottery pick. But at this point I'm guessing Vastly is next after Kanter, and I'm OK with that. No McGee Shaq ass tasting comments from me if he gets selected.
