Since the Pacers game he's 3/22 from the field. He's not that good but also Bertans and Ish are back from injury.

It's hard to succeed in the NBA without a good shooting touch, and he just doesn't seem to have it.

Yup - and made all 3 of his 3's.

I would think that the Bulls are happy with him... I know I am happy with Gafford.

Brooks was never going to play Brown. And based upon minutes played, Gafford is a better fit here.

It was an awful trade. I like Gafford, but we gave away the better and more versatile player in Brown while taking on Hutchinson's 4M salary next year. TS ~50% with as many turnovers as assist... the guy is a 10-12th man and making 4M next year. Awful

Ah, I thought Hutchinson was on a team option for next year - damn... #sowizards. And now watch Brown work for them like Satoransky.

Still, happy to get Gafford. I am probably way off here but I can see him being a quality starting NBA C.

The extra year on Gafford’s contract is big, if he does turn out to be a good player.

I’ve seen enough of Hutchison already. He’s a total scrub.

This trade was never for Hutchinson, it was always about Gafford.

For the first time in ages the Wizards managed to extend an asset, and they did it by only adding $700k to next years payroll.

Brown Jr has been really good for Chicago though. He’s been a massive positive for them. 63% TS so far. If he was playing 30+ minutes a night, he’d be filling it up.

No doubt Troy was the most talented player in the trade. (I wish him well.) But the Zards were able to fill a glaring need by getting a young rim protecting big (Gafford) in exchange for Troy.

Can’t get something for nothing.

Indeed. And Gafford numbers have so far been spectacular...I know, I know small 3-game sample

Looking at his splits calling him massive positive is quite the stretch.

He leads the Bulls in on/off differential by a mile at +27.2. The next closest is Thad Young at +11.5.

It’s not a stretch at all, it’s factual.

We picked up Thomas Bryant off of waivers and Garrison Mathews undrafted.

It was idiotic to deal Brown; it was stupid, the single thing Tommy has done that most puts him in doubt in my mind.

Brooks has to go, & Brown showed what a nice future he has in his play last year. Plus, we didn't trade Brown for Gafford -- the guy was a throw in.

The Bulls didn't value Gafford; there would have been another way to get him.

E..g. Moe straight up for Gafford. Bulls could still have moved Wagner to Boston for Theis. We'd have Brown and Gafford.

This is way to logical. Of course, Brown would still be rotting on the bench. So there is that...

I think you're totally wrong, PIF. The most important person in the trade from the Zards standpoint was Gafford. Why? Because he fills the need for a rim protector. He was not a "throw in." And the Bulls don't make the trade unless they get Brown.

The Zards don't trade Brown for Hutchinson and the Bulls don't trade Gafford for Moe. It was a Brown for Gafford trade. The throw ins were Hutch and Moe.

On top of that, you have no idea how much or how little the Bulls valued Gafford.
