On the trash talk issue Seven Day should listen to nobody but Coach Sammy.
In effect, talk all the shxt you want. But win. Then nobody can't tell you nothin. Problem is, Dray let it get to his feelings.
Dray, listen close: Fxck 'em. You and Vale held KG to an 0-fer. Snuffed him. Locked him out. You admired the cat, understandable, once upon a time. But who's coming up? You. Got next.
Lesson learned he got inside your head when he couldn't do nothing on your game. Save it up. File it away. Use that. Hit the weight room, then take it out on the next guy. Stock some away for the next time you meet.
They won. But until that point? You had him smothered like euthanasia. Remember that. Next time finish the job that's all. Mortal Kombat. Finish him.

I generally don't have a lot of the same problems with Flip that others do, and I think he is a good coach, but his comments after the game really pissed me off.
It was a complete losers attitude, and he was definitely sucking up to KG. Eff that.
Saying things like "don't wake up the beast" or whatever he said sucks. How is that going to help? Just don't say anything and hope he doesn't wake up? The quote where Flip said "Once you do that youv got no chance" (paraphrasing) makes me sick. Where is the confidence in your players? And even more importantly, where is the support for them?
I believe it was Brian Billick who said something like- when you go into the lions den, you don't tiptoe in there and try and surprise them, you run in there yelling with your spears ready. And that is absolutely true. How can we expect to beat the Lebrons and Wades of the league, or teams that are more talented than us, if we are are being careful of 'waking the beast"? Eff that.
i don't post that much, but this really upset me. It almost makes me question Flip's basketball manhood, his banhood [you like that term?]. It definitely makes me question if hes the right coach for this team as we mature. If we are going to be a scrappy, athletic, quick team, you need the right coach and most importantly the right attitude. If Flip keeps this up, he is not that guy.

yup, it's one thing to give some bland aphorism about trash talk being a double edged sword (or point out that some players like to goad you into getting off you're game through the trash talk cycle) it's another thing to call out your guys (and muddle with fragile confidences) and kick them when they're down. poor teaching/mentoring this was.
Until Grunfeld goes there is no rebuild.

it was a coward's stance by saunders. i don't think he believes in the talent that he has. i hope he looks back on this and realizes and changes his attitude.

Looking for help from a knowledgeable fan .... Just before the trade deadline, there was a report (or rumor) that Washington had made an offer including Blatche to the Jazz for Boozer's expiring contract and that the Jazz had rejected the offer. Do you know what other player(s) were included in that offer from the Wizards?

I don't think Flip's comments were a good idea. Maybe he thinks he is trying to toughen Blatche up and have him realize that he still has to keep the effort up. There is some hope Flip knows what he is doing, since he did oversee the development of Garnett, but I am not sure his approach is correct.

i'm gonna disagree on this one, i agree w/saunders tho my message might've been put a little differently. you dont taunt or berate ur opponent.
kg is an example for blatche, he's a pro and he approaches the game that way. when u strip it down, that was flips message.

Re: Andray Blatche - Resurgence Thread MIP (MERGED)
Garnett does that stuff to throw people's games off. It's doesn't seem personal, although it's often pretty silly. If Garnett needs someone taunting him to wake him up, that would be a sad statement about his professionalism. What should wake him up is that Blatche is better than Garnett thought. The message for Blatche to learn is don't take all that talk personally and don't let it become more important than the final score. To me, Blatche (and Thornton too) were responding appropriately to a veteran opponent who had a pretty lousy game until he helped stifle the Wizards' offense in the 4th, and it didn't look like the trash talk had all that much to do with the outcome.

while i agree with this general statement, you lose me with the next sentence.

KG is one of the worst and most prolific beraters and taunters in the game today.

Dray still learning to handle the double team but still rolling.
vs DET 11-22 only 1-1 FTs 10 rebounds 4 assists 23 pts
And with tonigths game Dray tops him previous most points scored in a season 713 did it in 150 less minutes. That's even accounting for how he was used most the season.
He is 10 rebounds away from passing his previous high and he is 2 steals past his previous high.

And what is making Dray so great to watch, and what makes him so exciting, is that he has not hit a wall yet since the All-Star break. I mean since he had those big games in the few games after the all-star break, we knew teams were gonna start to focus in on him and they have. And while he is struggling a bit with turnovers, he is still shooting over 50% in most of his games.
Most guys who arent use to getting double teams, after they have a few big games, once the teams focus on them they struggle, he hasnt yet..

That's a good point. His numbers were bound to come down (I mean, c'mon, he was putting up HOF-caliber stats) but they didn't come down nearly as much as many, including myself, thought they would. His efficiency has dropped and his turnovers have increased but as you said, he's still putting up pretty impressive numbers.
When we have a healthy team next season, it will be really interesting to see if and how Blatche fits in. Can he become that 2nd-option consistent scorer we need at the 4-spot? If he can, it makes our rebuilding plan much quicker.

You say second option...You dont think he can be a first option, especially after another summer of hard work.

I still think Gil is the defacto #1 scorer on this team... I do believe Dray will take over that role in a couple years though...

As DaRealHibachi said, as long as Gil is on this team, he will be the primary offensive weapon (unless of course LeBron or Wade sign with us).

Re: Andray Blatche - Resurgence Thread MIP (MERGED)
At this point, with the numbers that Dray is producing with the efficiency to match, having Gil be the first option again is silly...
As much as I love Gil. And as much as I want him on this team next year, he`s gonna have to change his game a bit...He`s gonna need to be much more efficient. He can average 25 ppg, but not at 43% . That will hurt us more than it will help us..
Imagine Dray with another summer, of conditioning, and another summer of polish on his inside game.
