I don't see ATL as a realistic destination for Paul. They can't afford to pay him and Joe Johnson.

Ouchie!!! Luke Babbit extension discussion:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1123614

Recall the great mix-tape and the Blazers dealing for him on draft-night (I was sold). Impatient fans, wrong system, or just plain bust?

Luke was one of those fast risers from the workouts right? I remember reading how this guy was a late 1st round pick who seemingly was jumping at the top of the boards.

On an unrelated note, JV is killing it in the U-19 games. Cavs picking Thompson over him will set them back a few years.

Babbitt is a never was. Not sure if I can call him a bust. He was just picked too high. He's a 2nd round quality talent. I remember the discussions about whether he was worthy of a lottery pick last year, I never bought in. He doesn't have an NBA position he can defend.

Yep, Dat called Babbitt's lack of production early on -- one of the advantages of being an unabashed cynic is that when someone fails you're right a lot of the time. :-)

The Pacers extend Vogel and hire Pritchard at GM, good moves, although I'm not sure Pritchard would have done that trade with the Spurs.

EDIT: Pritchard will be Director of Player Personnel. The Pacers didn't ask to speak to Tapscott?

Luke Babbitt will have a better career than Belinelli.

I think he is a good shooter and not a bad athlete.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

I told you so :banghead:

The Cavs given the choice of drafting a potentially solid PF or Center chose the PF. Looks like the Raptors finally selected a Euro that's going to do well for them. Sure, Jonas is abusing scrubs, but we would love for JaVale to have these kind of fundamentals now.

Jonas Valanciunas is looking legit. Dominating players his age. But yeah, Cavs messed up with that pick. Raps got real lucky.

I don't think the Cavs necessarily messed up. I am one of the few who thinks Tristan Thompson will become a great player.

Jonas Valanciunas appears likely to become a very dominating player--and at a harder position to fill, C. I think the Cavs wanted a player now and not one they might have to wait for.

^ I think it also says a lot about how they view Verajao. Right or wrong, if they think he's their C for the foreseeable future, then taking a chance at another position has at least some logic.

I can see the arguments for picking Thompson over Bismack or Vesely.

You must be right about Varejo being seen as their long-term Center, to justify passing on Jonas V. At least they didn't pull a "Kahn" and draft another PG.

I think there best move would be to trade down. They probably could have picked Jonas V and definitely picked up the Wizards 2nd(probably even the 18th pick) and still gotten Thompson or even Vesely would not have been a bad option.

So Rambis is finally fired by Kahn, Rambis takes the fall for Kahn. SMH

Edit: Rambis was bad, but he had a lot of help thanks to Kahn.

I wish Flip Saunders would ask to interview for the Minnesota job.

I want a new coach. I can't fault Flip for the team's lack of success last season. I also give him credit for having the team play reasonably well at the end.

I would like a younger guy who could infuse more passion and energy in the team and one who doesn't try to make Blatche the star.

DUH!!! I didn't think about that, Excellent!!! CCJ. I dream of Flip asking to be released from the remainder of his contract to "go home". This is absolutely perfect.

OTOH, Flip has been on a downwward coaching spiral since his last days with Detroit and he didn't do as-well as he could have with several Washington rosters, that can't be attractive to Minny.

I'm indifferent to Flip but I'd love to have a guy like Spolestra.

It looks like the Warriors have signed Wes Unseld Jr.

I think the Twolves will have a hard time getting a proven coach as long as Kahn is their GM.
