This is not an inspiring start for Otto. His lack of strength and quickness are really showing.

The more I see Porter, the more nervous I get. I know it's Summer League. I know he's is very young. I have said I love the pick. But, I just really hope we don't get into one of those "once he puts on pounds he'll be good" conversations for the next four years. I know... It's one Summer League game...

PS been saying that since last season, CCJ, about our talent. Wait until we blend said talent with 20 million in cap. Future is bright, if we don't blow it.

Ves impressing... Keep proving it young man.

Guys...relax. Otto is playing the 2 which is not his position and Bazemore is defending him. Bazemore was the CAA defensive player of the year at ODU and is an extremely good defender.

Sadly, yes. Singleton having more points than Otto is a concern. Porter has had a couple where I think he would have converted with added size/strength. He's going to need to eat some biscuits, no, gain some strength in the weight room.

At this point Olynyk is much better than Otto (who is almost 3 years younger).

Bazemore is underrated. Like Osby, he's got NBA game already. Porter seems like he's going to be good in open space and as a hustle player but, he's not going to able to finish through contact consistently well. He is still really young and I think will do like Beal, which is struggle some early. Playing SF with Wall at PG will help Otto due to the floor spacing. This game does, UD, show what Porter can't do yet which is break down and score inside and out. He's strictly a midrange scorer it seems to me, any way.

Porter was the Big East player of the year, which means...?

I'm relaxed and not worried that Otto won't become at least an above average NBA player.

The story is Bazemore can really play it seems, so far.

Also, the Wizards squad really has no decent PGs, which makes it hard for anyone to score. Look at how anemic the scoring and shooting has been so far...even for both teams. And 15 turnovers through 3?

Not too worried about Bazemore on Porter -- Kent is a 24 year old MAN and an NBA player. Porter is fully 4 years younger, a kid playing his first pro game. NBD.

Having to watch this game while listening to Buckhanz/Chenier blather on in free association and employee mode is annoying. Half the time they have the game in a smaller window; they are routinely coming back late from time outs/commercials. They pay little attention to what's actually happening, give us next to no info about the opposing team, etc. In all, bush league.

And... we get to watch all the games this way.

Note no Satoransky. Out of the 8 picks after John, in 2010, 2011 and 2012, we seem to have gotten exactly 1 player for the team. At least he (Beal) seems like a good one.

The best we can hope for with Porter is he becomes a lockdown defender and develops a reliable 3-point shot. Unfortunately, I can't help feeling that we overvalued him. No way we should have taken him over Noel. At this point I hope I'm wrong of course. But I fear that decision will haunt us for a while.

Which is why Chris Singleton should be dominating this game, wait a minute?!

My main concern was the way he moves on defense. He was sliding out there as if he was always on the verge of going for a shot block and the guys he was guarding didn't even really look to attack him (I only saw the first half though).

His handle is terribad.

But honestly all that goes with what I thought he was--Trevor Ariza with a lot more upside. He gets in the lanes like Ariza does and he may already be better in transition and as good a shooter. His rebounding is much better.

His man D isn't on Arizas level right now, but he's probably better everywhere else, which is fine considering he's 19 and needs to get stronger.

He's much faster than I thought he was though. He's extremely fast on the break.

Taking him over Noel was pure insanity but I still take him over everyone else that was available. I personally like Olynyk just as much but couldn't justify picking him at that spot.

But yea, Noel **** all over this entire class and its not close.

Rice taking that last shot and not Porter does not bode well.

Not only are they not looking for Porter, but Porter isn't even looking to get it.

Yawn. We were also very concerned about Beal. As soon as Porter gets stronger, he'll be fine. Right now, he just has to hit those mid-range shots he'll be getting with Wall and Beal on the floor. Obviously he won't be starting yet with Martell here.

Olynyk in a trade down was a much better option IMO. I'm trying to be happy today and not dump on Otto but I had forgotten about Noel.

It's his first game. He'll be much better by Game 5

Neither is good IMO.
