Witt should already been feeling the heat by having Beal out there for 40 minutes a night to start the year. This is just totally unacceptable. We may have just seen what amounts to Jarvis Hayes part 2. Leaving a good solider out on the battlefield to die. You could say D'Antoni did the same to Kobe.

How Ted can sit back and see his investment being wrecked I simply have no idea.

The setup for this season was a pretty solid tank, until Grunfeld decided to move a first round pick for a one year rental.

Wizards would be well on their way to getting Ernie and Wittman fired, and another appearance in the lottery if they hadn't made the move for Gortat.

Wonder what he could do with this group...but, I'll take Karl since he is available (crazy that he is still unemployed)

By the way, Beal is slowly becoming the Nene of shooting guards. Dude can't keep healthy for ****. He's freakin 20 and on a minutes restriction already....pathetic.

With 8 minutes left in the game it was obvious they weren't going to win this game. Wittman should have rested his starters for tomorrows game much sooner than that.

Not like Wittman really deserves blame for the injury, just saying, there was no reason for starters to still be out there.

Exactly. You don't have to know an injury would have. You just have to know it could happen. Thats why you take out your starters. You play it safe. Specially ones that have been INJURED. Specially when that player is a 20 year old #3 pick that is core to your rebuild. In game 27 with plenty of more games to play.

He is an idiot.

@MrMichaelLee: Bradley Beal needed crutches as he walked down hallway. Coach Randy Wittman said he bumped his left knee, had precautionary X-ray #wizards

I'm sorry, but Beal's injury (regardless of the severity) lies at the feet of Wittman.

We’re supposed to be monitoring his minutes and this would be a great time to do so being down so much late in the game. Instead, Wittman plays his guards into the ground in a game that we weren’t going to win. Wittman needs to go - NOW. I have always been firmly in the fire Wittman camp.

Precautionary x-rays? Sounds like 2-3 weeks.

Oh, and for the record, I still strongly dislike Eric Maynor

If Beal is out for the season I'm seriously tanking. Nene for bargnani, ariza for prince and Davis, gortat for Jeremy lamb and Perkins. all those guys expire after 2015 clear the cap, start over and tank for embid, Wiggins, Randall, parker, or exam.

I agree that Witt should have had the starters out as it was clear that the Wiz would lose and the Wiz have another game tomorrow night. But, I'm not going to blame the injury on Witt. The same play can happen at any time.

The team is just too predictable. I knew tonight would be a blow out. The defensive effort was pretty bad, especially from Gortat, who neither defended or rebounded. Although Wall had a pretty good offensive game, he also allowed way too much dribble penetration from Rubio and lost Barea on multiple occasions. I have no idea why Wall kept going over the screens when defending Rubio instead going under screens and daring Rubio to shoot. You have to know who you are playing.

Sucks about Beal. Hope the injury is not serious because his injuries are very alarming at such a very young age. The good news is that the younger a guy is, the better prognosis for recovery without lasting issues.

When I saw the replay, the first thought I had was likely a deep knee bruise. Hopefully that's it.

That's Ted's call. Ernie is going to try to get the 8th seed of the worst conference in the history of sports. Look at Atlanta. They might have lost Horford for 1-2 months.

I hope it's just minor, but is an injury to a key player ever minor?

The beal injury wouldn't be as concerning if GR JR wasn't hampered. That being said it did look painful. I think the worst case is an MCL tear. I think best case is simply bruise...I think it'll probably end up being a grade 2 sprain like M. Gasol had. The fact he couldn't put weight on it was concerning.

There was simply no point to have Wall or Beal out there for the last 8 minutes. Randy's problem with regards to every facet of coaching, is that he's a reactive coach. He doesn't do anything pro actively. He waits forever to stop the bleeding and seems rather inept when, and how quickly to sub in people.

If this is the injury that seals Randy's fate, so be it. He needs to be better then that. He isn't thibs, he doesn't deserve the same level of special treatment.

Ridiculous. No coach waves the white flag with 8:00 to go on a 16-point deficit. Teams come back from that far all the time. If your team has any heart, they don't want to quit that early and as a coach, you can't encourage it.

I think the game was over when Beal missed a 3-pointer at the 5 minute mark that would have cut the lead to 18. Minnesota got the rebound and hit a 3-pointer to go up 24 with 4:43 to go - game over. The Wizard scored on the next possession and then Beal had his injury. My guess is that Randy was going to go to his bench at the next break in the action

I'm guess there will be no post game interviews.
