http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2579260/trey-burkeI liked Trey as a back up PG option along with CJM as a PG/SG combo off the bench. Two options I liked along with Adams if we could do a trade down and pick up an extra asset. And it was a draft that I loved all the big man options throughout. I have no idea how they didn't get one or at least one of the stretch players like Kelly. Instead we got Glen Rice ... no no no..why ?
Bigs
Len, Adams, Plumlee, Noel, Dieng, Gobert, Jeff Withey, Iverson
And some S4/S5 in Kelly O, Ryan Kelly, Muscala, Erik Murphy
Ryan Kelly would have made sense, but again.. he has been injured a lot.
And there was little mighty mo...Pierre Jackson who again.. injuries. Hasn't worked out for him yet.
Anyway...
Trey
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2579260/trey-burkeBeen waiting for Trey to get it going for a while but as a starter, he wasn't very good. But now he is coming off the bench which is where I saw his value, he is doing really well in that role. Against MIL he was 5-10 from 3
Here is his ESPN SPIN
Spin: At this point, despite being the backup in name, Burke is close to must-own player. He is averaging 18.2 points, 2.2 three-pointers, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 29 minutes in his last five games, even shooting 47 percent from the field. Contrast that to his season mark of 38 percent and you need to factor in some regression into his performance, but for now, adding Burke is the smart move for most leagues.
After VO, my top targets for the Wizards that years were Len and Zeller if they used the pick at #3. Len got off to a slow start and actually had one more surgery after getting drafted but as a long term investment, I felt he was a good choice to be a big Z type center. Long and with some range. Still a little light in the trunks but he should get stronger. Zeller was a little less risky choice who is a little more physical and would grind it out. Still waiting to see that 3 range he said he had coming out of college.
CJM
http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_ ... j-mccollumYoung man hasn't had much luck with injuries and ended up having another after getting drafed but when he gets mins, he looks like a good off the bench player. He posted some good bench numbers in DEC and FEB. Maybe he could be had in a trade.
Along the line of back up guards there was also B McLemore who should continue to improve and still become a let starter. I love his explosiveness. He and Beal as the SGs would have been some over kill but it would have been interesting.
Its going to end up being a real nice draft with lots of names throughout the first round sticking around. It was just a messed up draft at the top. And my God, whoever thought Bennett was a top pick was way off. Funny to think back about how we went back and forth about him and how some here were so dead set that he should be the Wizards pick at #3... Ouch.
I will continue to pull for Otto and in a draft that was tough to pick at the top, he was a safe pick given TA was likely leaving. I like the young man. Sucks when you land the #3 pick and their aren't enough elite types at the top to pick from. If they wanted to swing for the fence and take some risk, pick Len. If they wanted to play it a little more safe and go for fit, Zeller or like we did..Otto. That's given they couldn't trade down and go for some of those other names like Trey, Ben, CJM, Adam.
And also in that draft were.. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Giannis Adetokunbo, Dennis Schroeder, Shane Larkin, Sergey Karasev, Tony Snell, Tim Hardaway Jr
It ended up being a real nice draft which is what I felt it would be. Real deep but lacking some big names at the top.
