Agreed. BTH's comments are particularly pointed: he doesn't say that Eddie benched him because he thought that the other guys would fare better against CLE (a defensible position, albeit based on a horribly misguided premise), but that Eddie let *spite* cloud his judgment. And that, if true, is indefensible.

Man, I'm sooooooooooooo glad the EJ days are over. Brendan basically said what 75% of this board thought & felt and the media & most casual fans refused to acknowledge or address. EJ deserved to get fired immediately after that series and I hold EG responsible for waisting two whole seasons before finally canning the guy.

It's such a relief to have a quality coach in Flip and a credible staff surrounding him. Along with Arenas finally getting healthy, our coaching upgrade should provide the biggest reason for optimism.

Been sayin it for a while Dat, it brings back fond memories of the original Wiz-board 5. Sweet vindication.

Edit: And I'm really looking forward to a hoops radio show, too-bad I'm not usually around from 7-9 on a Friday night.

Well, and I think EG agreed with you, he's said he was thinking about firing EJ for awhile but couldn't because he was getting them to the playoffs. I guess if you read between the lines it means he asked Abe for permission to fire him and didn't get it.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Another off-season moves article, Wiz get an A
The Wizards set themselves up to make the biggest jump in the league, from an injury-induced 19-63 last season to at least .500 and the playoffs in 2009-10. Not needing any more kids or guaranteed contracts, they traded the No. 5 pick and three other players to the Timberwolves for Mike Miller and Randy Foye to add depth and versatility in the backcourt. Hoping to improve inside, and needing to improve inside, the Wiz later signed Fabricio Oberto. Acting with the same focus on other issues, they struck quickly to hire Flip Saunders as coach.

I notice that 60% of the underrated seasons (24 of 40) come in the last three years. I'm surprised the makers of that list didn't take another look at their methodology or at least explain to readers how that might be possible. I saw another list recently (at Wages if Wins) that had Mike Miller and Dominic McGuire on a most underpaid list for last year. I'd love to project all these for next year, but...

Not sure if this belongs here, but does anybody know if Haywood's radio show tonight will be made available via podcast or mp3 at some point? I went to 106.7's website, but could only find podcasts for select programs, not for something like "Evening Show" like what Haywood is scheduled for from 7-10.

I also noticed that a bunch of the players are San Antonio Spurs role players (Oberto, Bonner, Barry twice, Bowen twice). Either San Antonio is incredibly shrewd at finding diamond-in-the-rough role players, or it just pays to be on the floor alongside Duncan, Ginobili and Parker.

That list seems pretty suspect to me.

There's also an unusually large proportion of white guys on the list. Seven of the top 11 are white: Oberto, Barry, Foster, Bradley, Bonner and Hoiberg. Weird.

Seriously, I was thinking that it sucks that there is no DVR for radio, I'd like to catch the show on podcast. I'm gonna try and catch some of it live.

The Eddie Jordan feud was 50% on him and 50% on EJ. He said he could have handled things better in the beginning when he wasn't getting consistent playing time back to Kwame Brown and Etan Thomas; Haywood said he was young and immature. He said his attitude probably left a bad impression on EJ. But he also said that EJ could have played him more in the later; and implied that EJ could have put his personal feelings aside.

Haywood mentioned that EJ liked to go to small ball when games got close but didn't really criticize EJ for it; shruggin it off like it can be an effective strategy.

People who called in:

Roger Mason
David Aldridge
Gilbert Arenas Sr

Only got to hear part of Wood's interview with Gilby Sr. How did he say Gilbert is doing?
