'What does that say to not have a single senior advisor in the West Wing who is African-American?' a news anchor asked the president's counsellor.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she "can't guarantee" that there are no tapes of President Trump saying the N-word. "I can't guarantee anything, but I can tell you that the president addressed this question directly," Sanders said in the White House press briefing Tuesday in response to a question about whether she could guarantee that Americans would never hear him use the word in a recording.

Images of youngsters in cages and an audiotape of wailing children have sparked anger at home and abroad.
Images of children and youths sitting in concrete-floored cages in U.S. shelter facilities have generated outrage. U.S. officials have defended the measures as a way to secure the border and deter illegal entry.
Administration officials have defended the tactic as necessary to secure the border and suggested it would act as a deterrent to illegal immigration. But the policy has drawn condemnation from medical professionals, religious leaders and immigration activists, who warn that some children could suffer lasting psychological trauma. The children are held in government facilities, released to adult sponsors or placed in temporary foster care.

From the 2d article you link to:
"The Podesta Group, Mr. Podesta’s firm; Mercury Public Affairs, where Mr. Weber worked; and Skadden, where Mr. Craig practiced, were all recruited by Mr. Manafort to assist with his work in Ukraine on behalf of that country’s president at the time, Viktor F. Yanukovych, who was considered a Kremlin ally.
"But two of the firms — the Podesta Group and Mercury Public Affairs — were retained through a nonprofit group in Brussels, the European Center for a Modern Ukraine. The nonprofit was directed by Mr. Manafort, and the firms lobbied in Washington on behalf of the nonprofit for what Mr. Manafort billed as Mr. Yanukovych’s efforts to move Ukraine into the West.
"The firms ...did not initially register to lobby with the Justice Department as foreign agents. ...They instead had filed less detailed lobbying reports with Congress, based at least partly on misleading characterizations that Mr. Manafort’s deputy later admitted to providing. The firms retroactively registered to lobby for foreigners with the Justice Department in 2017."
I'm not interested in supporting any of these lobbying firms, but...
1. "...recruited by Mr. Manafort"
2. "...retained through a nonprofit group in Brussels, the European Center for a Modern Ukraine... directed by Mr. Manafort, 3. "...lobbied in Washington on behalf of the nonprofit for what Mr. Manafort billed as Mr. Yanukovych’s efforts to move Ukraine into the West."
4. "...did not initially register to lobby ...as foreign agents. ...instead had filed less detailed lobbying reports with Congress, based at least partly on misleading characterizations that Mr. Manafort’s deputy later admitted to providing.
...makes it obvious that lumping Manafort & these other firms in one pot neither describes nor clarifies anything.
Nor does the first article support the characterization that Mueller has all these guys (Manafort one the one hand, Craig/Podesta on the other) in the same "loop."

Why are you splitting hairs, PIF? The reason Manafort is going to jail and the Podestas aren't is simply because one is under a microscope and is being used as bait for a bigger fish, period. If you want to act like these DC swamp creatures are "less swampy" than others, that's your business, but being a partisan hack about it doesn't change the fact that they are ALL members of the swamp.

Spoiler:
Politico -- Aug 29thTrust Me, Mr. President, White South Africans Are Doing Just Fine
White supremacists think farmers here are getting slaughtered. The truth is, life in this country isn’t much different than it was under apartheid.
I didn’t know what to say because it was all so far from the truth that it beggared belief. Some lies are so fantastical they cannot be countered without vaguely soiling the arguer.
My neighbors said the notion was bonkers. But when I suggested there was a role for white South Africans to speak up and challenge Trump’s notion that whites were being persecuted in South Africa, they demurred. “Why should I even counter something so crazy?” one of them wrote.
Because the truth is the opposite, almost the exact opposite. It’s true that news organizations, in my view, under-report from South Africa. But the reality they under-report is that white life is amazing. The average household income for white-person-headed households in South Africa, according to a 2016 survey, is five times the average income of a black-headed one. They are almost 10 percent of the country’s population and still possess nearly three fourths of its privately owned agricultural land.
The transition hasn’t been painless for white South Africans. And the country’s new president did speak recently of amending the Constitution to allow for the expropriation of land. Even so, such calls have led most South Africans, white and black, by now, just not to believe it will ever happen. Family capital and residual pro-white prejudice still works in whites’ favor.
black people are more likely to be the victims of crime here in general. My partner, a white South African, remarked recently that sheerly in terms of advantage, being white here is still like being a team of world rugby stars asked to play a team of under-14s. That’s uncomfortable. That’s what’s hard for the international press to write about.
...the day after Trump's tweet, investors got spooked and the South African currency dropped 2 percent, damaging the country more than any white genocide ever has. What’s crazy has a way of becoming reality before we can blink.

The big difference given that Manafort has more charges tied against him than Podesta, and the fact that Tony Podesta is actually cooperating with the special counsel whereas Manafort is still withholding information which appears to be protecting Trump. Trump in the meantime has all but confirmed that he's thinking about pardoning Manafort anyways which reduces the incentive for Manafort to cooperate and thus we are seeing these play out in trials.

Your description of everyone's aggregate position here is limited only by your own imagination. I voted for and donated to Bernie in the primary, and I donated to AOC back when she had like 5k followers on Twitter. You clearly can't handle being wrong about stuff so you call everyone who critiques you a PARTISAN HACK HILLARY HOE. Good stuff, man. Stay woke

Truth is that the working poor earning between $20-30K will see a 15-20% increase in their take home pay(post tax cut).<--by doubling the standard deduction from 12 to 24 K.
And those making $40-60K will take home about 5-15% more income.
and small businesses s-corps making under 120K will take home 15-25% more income post tax cut.
and everyone else(98% of W2 employees) making over $75K will still see a 3-4% in take home pay.
so everyone take home more money and everyone's retirement account has gone up 50-300% since trump was elected and made promises to slash corporate income rates.
and the tax cut will be revenue neutral at worst. it might even increase federal revenue.
tax cut has brought jobs back in record numbers!
UE rates are at record lows.
once Trump finishes his trade deals and we see some synergy with the tax plan...things are going to get even better. if canada gets on board quick. EU is likely to fall in line real quick. China will be on an island and forced to renegotiate. but even if they dont...if the rest of the world hits china with harsh tariffs it wont matter. they will be crushed.
and at this point they need to be crushed. We are 1-2 years away from the USA being way out in front of the entire world and in the pole position to sustained economic growth for decades.
like i said, its a full rebuild.
