It’s kind of funny because coming into the season the twin tower lineup the Cavs have was seen as at least a little disappointing and maybe wasn’t the greatest fit. Now I wonder if jumbo lineups like that might have a resurgence in popularity. Bring back Nene and Okafor

The funny thing is that Sarr seems like more of a natural 4 than Mobely. He is taking far more 3s than Mobley ever has a looks more comfortable with his handles/passing on the perimeter.

Part of the reason people questioned the Mobely/Allen fit is that Mobely was a self check on the perimeter. In his first 3 seasons Mobley averaged 0.3 - 0.4 3s made per game.

Not expecting this but having already brought up Giannis as a who knows proposition,
let me follow that up with Dirk. Yeah, I'm dreaming big.

historical note - Dirk was a 9th overall pick
traded by Bucks to DAL for Robert Traylor and Pat Garrity. Ouch.

Nene and Gortat were a much more effective pairing than Nene and Okafor.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Right? Seems to me somebody on this board has been yammering for years about how Small Ball was likely to flip to Tall Ball as soon as we had sufficiently skilled perimeter giants roaming around. The ball goes to the basket. The big guys are closest to the basket. More 3pt shots equals more rebounds. If you can force misses outside you need big time boardsmen inside. So get you a big who can challenge outside, and a ferocious rebounding corps, and you can control the possession game. If you get bigs who can catch and score underneath at the other end you don't have to rely in the streaky outside shooting. You just need tall passers to get them the ball. A dunk is the most efficient shot in the game. A dunk and a foul is even better. I like Sarr developing outside skills, especially on defense. I still want a monster in the middle. Give me that option at least.

Yeah. More impressive to me was the step-around to steal the ball and set himself up for the end to end run to dunk.

Every time I watch Rutgers, which I've only actually done a few times, I get a bit underwhelmed
by their 2 guys, Harper and Bailey (moreso Bailey).

After Flagg, it will be interesting to see who in this draft will be of the quality that has had
so many people describing the '25 draft as so good. I honestly don't know nearly enough to
speculate on how good the draft after Flagg is going to be. That said, there will be some good
players.

Harper is a beast. He was recovering from flu last game but he has been the most impressive player i have watched this season. The only way to keep him away from the rim is to double him.

Okay. There are 2 worthy guys. I note there have been intervals when Harper has topped the Tankathon mock. Over Flagg.

We will get the 3rd pick, that's my bet.

Nah. Adam will take care of us this year. He knows we need star power for the new arena.

Jakucionis looks fun but a little turnover prone. I don't know if he can be Luka, but there's definitely Deni in him.

The %'s suggest we get the 4th pick. But every time I play the mock I end up 5th with VJ Edgecombe.

I like the Edge. No question about his athleticism and hustle. He's a Dawkins type pick no doubt. High upside athleticism, with one key fixable flaw: can't shoot the three. I don't hate him if we are still tanking to land among the 4 worst teams next year and guarantee we don't lose our pick. His talent sizzles. Incandescent raw ability. He will need time to develop. Among all the guys in the draft he is the one who both might slip and is a home run swing for talent and effort. Has the raw talent to be the best pick in the draft when his career is over. If health allows.

Currently, he's the guard version of Ron Holland. Only more athletic, which is saying something. Shaedon Sharpe with a high rev competitive motor. He's averaging over 3 steals Per 36 often from on-ball pressure, not just jumping the routes. And better than a block a game from the guard spot. Rebounds like a forward even when he starts the possession outside. Smart passer, quick decision maker, not an over-dribbler. Near 2:1 assist to TO ratio. As quick with the ball as he is off it. Flies around the court and over it. Alley oop dunk threat even when he's posted outside the 3pt line. But yeah, shoots sub 30% from outside. No catch and shoot game. No reliable jumper.

Still I expect he jumps up the chart at the combine. Ungodly athletic numbers. May be a top 3 pick. NBA 1st team all Defense or DPOY contender. Like if Ryan Dunn had a handle and passing chops. If he learns to shoot he's the one guy who would be able to straight bully his match up every night at both ends of the floor. Big if. But that is the Dawkins profiles. Bet on the high motor guy with a Big If upside.

With a 2nd round look I'm liking Tomislav Ivisic of the Illini.

His brother plays well too for Arkansas, but so far T. has been playing a little better.

Here they are against each other

I would definitely take Ivisic in the second round if he falls to our pick. I suspect he will go higher.

He has legit size and is physical player who can also shoot 3s. I have seen him a few times while watching Kasparas.

Maybe trade down for multiple picks in that case, right PIF?
