Re: The Tank Watch has expired. Time to cheer to win again!
Two 20 win teams left, Sacremento and NO.
Sacramento plays Charlotte tonight. That should knock them out as a threat for the 2nd slot.
New Orleans ends with the LAC, Golden State and Houston.
We end with Charlotte, Cleveland, and Miami, who will likely be resting everyone.
It isn't beyond the pale that we win out and NO loses out, and that we tie for the 2nd slot.

I'm not worried.
I just can't imagine a scenario where we are in a must-lose tank battle in the final game of the season, and some end-of-the-bench scrub like, say, James Singleton, steps in and pulls down 17 boards in 25 minutes in order to help secure a 1-point win and a loss of a draft slot. It would never happen.
Of course, in such a crazy scenario, maybe the tank gods would smile on us and deliver us the #1 overall draft pick. Heck, anything is possible, right?

So, isn't our worst-case we pick 5th and Drummond, Barnes, & Sully are BPA?

Because of this moronic winning streak we are now in range of the 6 or 7 slot. As I said previously in this thread, I don't celebrate the tank watch being over, till its actually freaking over. Our worst case scenario is a disaster if we sweep our last 3 (totally forseeable as we play 2 dogs, and a miami band of losers that wont mind mailing it in in the last game), and the other tanks go Zhukov mode these last five days.

I just didnt understand the part of bringing Nene back until the Tank ws over. We shouldve atleast waited until after that Bulls game. We could easily win out while both Sac & NO could easily lose out. Odds are still in our favor but Im getting more & more nervous

We beat the Cavs who were the best team in the league at the time. We ended up catching the Clipps for a tie, losing the coin toss, and they got Blake. If Gil & Wood didnt come back then we wouldve got Blake. Hope we dont get skinned again.
Have a question though. Is a coin toss the 1st tie breaker no matter what? What if its just 2 teams? Is head to head the 1st tie breaker? Say if NO wins a game and we end up tied with Sac. Do we get the 2nd spot since Sac beat us head to hear? Say Sac wins one more and we end up tied with NO. Does NO get the 2nd spot since we beat them head to head?
From everything I read, it seemed like Nene was the one pushing for the comeback.
And yes, a coin toss is the 1st tiebreaker no matter what. H2H isn't taken in to consideration.

Yep, and if we lose the coin toss, we are in potentially deep doo doo.

Yeah, I'm not worried. SAC plays CHA today (guaranteed win), and NOH plays GSW soon (guranteed win). We'll get the #2 slot.

As for the math equation you did CCJ, where is the Stern factor in there ? Solve for S.
S= Probability of Act of (NBA) God
S can't rig the lottery ... but I do think S can affect the competitive balance of the NBA so big market teams have an advantage.
Just like lightening striking a person twice or one person winning the lottery twice for more than a million, when Stern wants something to occur strange things happen.

How long have you been a Wizards/Bullets fan? After the last 30 years of the "Curse of Les Boulez" we have learned to hope for the best but plan for disaster.

Until the Kings and Hornets win or the Bullards lose, ball in play.

In a worst case scenario, we'll be tied with New Orleans. That gives us just a 2% chance at landing the 6th pick. I'm not worried.
It really looks like, short of landing the first pick, landing the fifth pick will be just fine. I don't think anybody else takes Beal ahead of MKG, Robinson or Drummond. Indeed, one might argue that the 5th pick is better than the 2nd pick because at least we won't have to pay Beal as much. The difference in salary between the 2nd and 5th pick is about $6M over 4 years or an average of $1.5M a year.

Sac won so they're out of contention for 2nd worst. If NOH wins vs GSW, it'll
all be good for us. Then we win out thereby appeasing the tank gods and
have good karma on lotto day.

And we can always tank the last game if needed. We are in the drivers seat. NO has to know that so they may as well try to win.
Oh. did anyone watch the Booker post game interview. I have been reading he is done for the year. I guess no one asked Booker. He said he may be ready for Monday nights game.
