I think it would be much more beneficial to take a big picture approach. Pay the guy next year for what he already showed you this year. We’re not talking about Scott Brooks. Alex Smith earned his damn money.

Bring him back even if you think he’s probably just gonna carry the clipboard and pay him every **** penny

Completely agree. My dream for him when the WTFs drafted him was that he’d become like Ben R.

He was never going to be a good runner, but I hoped he’d be a big armed, not afraid to get hit, maneuver within the pocket QB leader type.

He may well now become that... just not here.

It would’ve been nice if they had been forward thinking about Kirk cousins

It's hard to be rich in your home town. Be the man in your home town. Yet still leb focused. In pit he might be far enough away to focus.

Hopefully they retain Kyle.

Cool that he's a local guy. I grew up hanging out in Wheaton - living next door in Aspen Hill. And he's even older than I am - by 6 years. 8-)

Ruz, If my memory is anywhere near correct you and I are around the same age. We were at Maryland around the same time frame. Of course I went to Bowie most of the time...I grew up in Fort Washington Maryland and you probably remember that.

You are correct sir. I was at U of MD from '79 thru '83 - lived on campus my first 2 years at dorms that should have been condemned at the time - Harford Hall and Frederick Hall - spent a lot of my time around there playing hoops outside. If you noticed a short skinny (fat now) clumsy white guy who always seemed to be at the outdoor hoops courts near those dorms close to the main dining hall, it was probably me.

He's a hero for what he did, but let's not forget he's already gotten paid a fortune for what he did. And if we're honest, the team won with him despite his poor play. His stats last season were awful - arguably just as bad as Haskins' were. He couldn't stay healthy enough to defend himself, which is why he couldn't play in the biggest game of the year - when a journeyman off the streets played better than he did all season. To expect anything better next year isn't realistic, imo. There's also a numbers issue. No doubt they want both Allen and Heinicke back next season. That leaves space for only 1 more QB on the roster, and no doubt they'll want 1 more QB who's either better than Smith or who can be their QB of the future. If they sign your choice - Kaep - no chance they also bring back Smith.

I'm only 10-ish years removed from college but it's funny what sticks with you. I can definitely still remember many of the nameless faces that I played against in pickup and IMs - and even some games. I can only name about... 5 professors.

That sob George Preston Marshall is probably rolling in his grave. Kudos to the Skins on making strides.

Kyle Smith's title will be determined by Assistant to the Regional Manager Dwight K. Schrute.

Mayhew is GM in name only. He reports to the coach, which is a weird structure for a front office. They need to update Ron’s title to COO/overlord.

I like Stafford as a straight up free agent signee, but to offer any kind of decent trade value for...hell naw. Not even a 4th.

I suspect you're in the minority on that one.

That's stupid. No way anyone gives up a first. Stafford isn't that great he's good but not like on the level of brady and the other living goats.

I would give up this year’s first for Stafford.

Who knows, maybe a 1st gets us Stafford and a fourth.

A first for a 33 year old Stafford? Meh...not interested. Roll with Heinike or Marriotta/Brissett and address it next year.

I mean ****, signing any vet and keeping our first is preferred and would be better lol . I mean we are not just one piece away from a tittle. I like stafford, but he's got what a few years left before a possible decline. Naw, keep smith on the team to hold the clip board keep heinicke, draft a late small school guy and sign a vet competition.

Jacoby Brissett
Mitchell Trubisky
Cam Newton
Kyle Allen
Tim Boyle

All would be good signs in my opinion. Kyle allen is already in house but he's 24 and has room to grow. Tim blyoe has studied under a goat and if you believe that what happened to rodgers after farvre left, could repeat with him. Then maybe it's worth a look. Turbisky is still young and could be worth it, brissett is a stop gap at best. And newton might have a few miles left on him if he comes cheap enough.
