One of the biggest arguments for not drafting Faried was Booker's presence.

Booker is a nice role player off the bench, but It goes to show you that you shouldn't really be drafting based on position/need. You get the best player period, especially considering how empty our cupboard is.

Not only that, it goes to show you that you can't discount production over potential and measurements every damn time. Farried is just the latest example.

That's the thing? What was wrong with Faried's measurements? Absolutely nothing. He measured out as a legit PF. His standing reach was 9'0' which is ideal for a PF. He was already considered an excellent athlete. Not sure why he flew under radar.

The single biggest thing scouts ignored but they shouldn't have is that Faried was a terrific finisher in NCAA play. He makes shots. Not just dunks, either.

I watched him the few times he was on tv and I tracked Faried's games for 2 1/2 years. He had big games against Kansas, Florida, Kentucky and all of the best teams. He blocked a shot to beat Louisville after single-handedly taking Moorhead State (?!) to the NCAAs. What more could Faried have done after breaking Tim Duncan's NCAA rebounding record? Nothing.

I'm convinced scouts are far too enamored with potential and height to be objective over guys like Faried.

Players who fail the tape test in this draft are Reggie Hamilton, Draymond Green, Mike Scott, Kevin Jones, Ricardo Ratliff, Marcus Denmon. They will go low if they're drafted at all in a couple cases.

He's kind of a smaller Ben Wallace.

Sigh...

I do see Ben Wallace however. Young man has thickened considerably since two years ago when he first caught the eye. Somewhat less intimidating, but better offense, and all the athleticism and hustle of Ben at his best.

Rice's Ben Braun always picks up a hidden talent who feasts on the weak schedule. He won't come out this year but persian Arsalan Kazemi is one of those San Antonio Spurs type do-it-all players, currently racking all the right hustle stats. He only needs an improved 3pt shot to have a solid career on a winning squad.

21-21 from the FTL :o

That must have been painful to watch.

Philly n Chicago is a good game. Man I hate EFJ watching Tibbs on the side line. Philly down 2 with 2:30 to play.

Williams, along with the 57 points had 7 assists and 6 rebounds. That is probably the best game of the year. Then again, I don't know if it's is as impressive at 17 points, 20 assists, 18 rebounds by Rondo.

17+ points, 17+ rebounds and 17+ assists has only been done once since 1986, by Magic Johnson (who posted 24, 17 and 17).

Williams scored 54.8% of his team's 104 points. When Wilt scored 100, he had 59.2% of his team's 169 points. So, Williams 57 last night would translate to about 93 points in a game played at a Wilt-era pace. Since 85-86, Williams' 57 was the 7th best scoring night (looking at it as a percentage of his team's total points).

The top 10:

1. Kobe -- 1/22/06 -- 81
2. Robinson -- 4/24/94 -- 71
3. Jordan -- 3/28/90 -- 69
4. McGrady -- 3/10/04 -- 62
5. Kobe -- 3/16/07 -- 65
6. Kobe -- 12/20/05 -- 62
7. Williams -- 3/4/12 -- 57

Those are point totals, of course -- not percentages. I put together this list for my blog on Friday when folks were hyping Wilt's 100 as the greatest individual athletic performance ever. Looking at single game scoring as the player's share of the team's total, Wilt's 100 would rank 3rd on the list above -- in a tie with Jordan's 69.

Kobe's 81 represented 66% of the Lakers' points that game. Robinson's 71 was about 63% of the Spurs' scoring in that game.

After Williams comes Iverson's 60-point game, a 61 and 64 from Jordan; a 61 from Kobe and so on. I wish B-R could expand their box score database going back a few years.

I'll be damned, Biyombo returns to the Cats lineup and gets another double-double. Cats beat Orlando.

Biyombo - 15 rebounds, 7 Blocked shots, 10 points :o

The worst pick of the lottery has to be between Vesely and Jimmer. Jimmer has to win because the expectations were much higher. Let's see where things stand at the end of the season. Marcus Morris hasn't really played yet.

Kobe really has been putting on a chuckfest this season. He is taking 5 treys a game shooting 27.7% and 8 shots from 16-23 feet shooting 42%. That is 13 shots a game from 16+ feet.

What makes it worse is that he has Bynum/Gasol who are both good post scorers.

Minny's going to really miss Rubio's shooting. <green font>

Rubio had another double-double before going out injured last night  Wall had 4 points in his last game.
