I understand the desire to dump Morris. But why Green? He's having a good season thus far and he's one of the few adults/leaders in the Zards locker room. He also has experience playing in pressure situations, such as conference and NBA finals.

If you can get a decent player or asset for Jeff, fine. Dump him. Otherwise, I want him on the roster.

I mean, they are going to be way better with Ariza in place of Oubre, and just not having Rivers. They need to figure out the center situation though, that might be where the 1st round pick comes into play

John Wall and Howard for whiteside? They have bam and Kelly so whiteside is expendable. And wall would be a huge upgrade over dragic and Howard would be good for them when healthy ! We would just have to avoid the trap of overpaying a 30 year old white side next year. Then we need to go find a point guard lol

John wall and Ian to the bullls
for
parker and lopez

We don't get any big time assets but, we get out of two bad contracts and it is basically what LAC and the pistons did over the summer with blake. we use walls value to dump mahinmi and hell if we like parker we can hold on to him or we just cut him after the season since his contract has a team option. and get a nice chunk of cap room.

Why would Kings swap Giles for Parker? They seem to like Giles and Parker is pure garbage. Bulls also have no interest taking on Mahinmi, they have nice young bigs in Markkanen/Carter/Portis and Lopez is a good vet - Felicio is unnecessary but at least paid "only" 8M/year. I understand they'd get great playmaker in Wall but they're just taking on too much money.

Like some wise people have said here, the plan seems to get the train back on track and make at least that 8th seed. If they still suck in early February there'll be a fire sale - led by Ernie Grunfeld. :(

On the mahinmi topic. they trade mahinmi for lopez in a wall deal as the asset. we aren't asking for a pick or a young playing just a cap dump. instead of giving up an asset they give us a cap dump for wall.

Agree 100%. I didn't think it was a particularly good idea to sign Jeff Green, but he is having his best year as an NBA player -- by a huge amount. I was incorrect, in other words.

Unless you got a young player over whom you had control for a while, there'd be no reason to trade him, you couldn't fill the slot for less money than the $1.5m he makes.

Of course, if you *did* get that kind of player, then it would make sense to trade him -- but, I can't see anyone giving us that. Only if there was another Ernie GM-ing another team. That guy might.... :)

I'm still trying to process...
We loose Gortat, Rivers, and Oubre and get a 3/4 season rental of Ariza.

We were going to lose all those guys anyway. The trade that EG made was still better than doing nothing at all because Ariza is better than Oubre (and any minutes Brown gets will be an upgrade over Rivers).

The problem isn't that he made the trade. The problem is that he should have gotten more for Oubre. The first trade with Memphis was about right. That would have been a good move. But EG bungled it and left himself in a position where he HAD to trade Oubre for anything he could get.

Ultimately, EG just gave away the opportunity to obtain a 2nd round pick (or two, not sure the details on that rumored MEM conditional pick). Now that asset is gone.

Hi Ernie, I have a great idea:

Ian Mahinmi + 2019 1st round pick (top-3 protected) for Robin Lopez + Justin Holiday

"Robin is a great veteran who's going to help a lot in the locker room as well on the court. Justin on the other hand is a wonderful 3&D-player who fits the modern NBA perfectly. Their expiring contracts give us great flexibility moving forward."

"We drafted in 2015 and 2018. Therefore we can easily skip the next two drafts and after all we are a veteran team trying to make the playoffs. We don't have time to develop young players."

"We definitely are buyers in this market, not sellers. Right now we feel like we have the deepest team in the franchise history and are sure that we will make the playoffs."

"If needed, we will make more moves in order to have a great playoff push. We still have assets to use."

Wall/Satoransky
Beal/Holiday/Brown (G-League)
Porter/Green/Dekker
Ariza/Morris/White
Bryant/Lopez/Howard (inj.)

I can definitely see this trade happen. Just more trading away of picks. SMH.

EG was probably drunk off that Romanian potato vodka or whatever they drink over there Friday night when he confused the Brookses and panicked

Don't let the door hit you in your asset on the way out, Ernie!

the bulls are a team who don't have much chance of bringing in big names, Ian comes off the books next year any way and a wall lavine back court is something to build on at the very least. They got some other young guys who are coming up too, and making that move might help them a lot going forward. I think a wall lavine back court is at least enough to put them in playoff contention for a while. and they wouldn't even have to give up any picks to do it.

Great win tonight. Encouraging; a different energy. The next trade to make is Otto Porter for Julius Randle (and whatever pieces are needed to balance the numbers).

Randle isn't that good when he's not playing bully ball.

Wiz need Otto's 3 point shooting.

I don’t know what that means.

Otto isn’t that good when he’s not playing aggressively on O. Which is usually. And he doesn’t have great strength to man the 4.
