Some McGee love from Chris Sheridan

They have conceded the gold as far as I'm concerned.
You will rue the day you cut McGee, Jerry, Rue the day!
He'll come grovelling to Pam's door with a box of chocolates yet, you just watch! Pam will then counter by mentioning Javale now has German citizenship and is considering taking Kaman's roster slot (she'll also casually mention that there's some bratwurst and red cabbage in fridge, just to make him squirm). Better be some hell of fancy Chocolates, Jerry, not some Whitman's Sampler you picked up at Woolworths. The fate of a nation depends on it.
I tweeted this moments before checking out of my hotel room in Las Vegas last Sunday, and I'll say it again now that they've done it: Cutting JaVale McGee from Team USA was a mistake.
He brought a unique skill set to a team hurting for size, he was an insurance policy in case Tyson Chandler (who missed 68 games the past two seasons due to injuries) gets hurt or gets into foul trouble, and he was the perfect 12th man candidate in that he might be needed for only 5-6 important minutes during the entire World Championship, but those could be the very 5-6 minutes that make or break this team's fortunes.
USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo did seem to indicate that McGee would be on call for the rest of the summer.
"He's very raw, he's very young, he's a real babe in terms of game experience and he has a real future. So that's really how we left it with him: Keep working on your game and you may get a call sooner rather than later. You don't know. We're playing that by ear," Colangelo said.

I think there is some truth to this. If Chandler or Lopez can't play, they might want McGee back. Lopez had mono and Chandler is always an injury risk.
McGee making the team would have been shocking, but it would have been nice if he could have made it to the final cuts.

Would be nice if the Wiz could get a big man in here to help Javale. Maybe Shaq wouldn't be a bad idea afterall.

I really thought they'd keep McGee at least past this cut, if not only to have more big men to play against in practice for preparation...

Considering McGee's man-to-man defense, perhaps this is why they cut him. Sure he has potential, but he really has to start thinking the game. McGee just reacts, which on defense isn't really a great approach. But seriously, the real news here is the US is hurting for bigs so bad that they almost had to settle for McGee. I do agree this should help McGee get his head on straight and really work toward becoming a better ball player, but gosh, couldn't anyone else step up for the US team?

Are we seriously going into the season with McGee as starting center?

How many scoring C's in the eastern conf would u guys consider as dominating Mcgee during the whole game, I can only think of Bogut and Howard. Help D is probably the bigger issue but that is something Dray will need to commit to just as much if not more because there are more scoring threats at PF. especially with boozer and amare coming over
Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)

Wouldn't worry about it. Kevin Seraphin will take his starting minutes before the year is out.

stoudemire will probably play C for the knicks. lopez is only going to improve. it'd be interesting to see how mcgee reacts to bargs in toronto. that's five 15+ppg centers that mcgee has to face right there. not to mention the non-scoring C's that Mcgee could give up career nights to: noah, dalembert, and okafor.

Roy Hibbert scored a career high 29 points against McGee. Btw Hibbert has owned McGee ever since their workouts for teams before the 2008 draft.

Wow, the negativity is amusing. Either he improves and gets it or he doesn't and someone else gets a chance. It's almost as if some of you were asleep for four months and awakened to the fact that JaVale is the starting center. He's going to struggle, but hopefully he will improve.

He also got 27 against Okafor, 26 against Dwight Howard, 25 against Mark Gasol, 23 against Boston bigs, and 21 against Lakers bigs.
He also had two more years of college experience in those workouts, and was given the starts and minutes almost from the beginning, whereas McGee played behind Haywood and others and often did not play at all. When Hibbert scored 29 against the immature, inexperienced, and still developing McGee, McGee stil managed 14 points, 8 RBs, 3 steals and 3 blocks, but it wasn't enough to win the all-important last game of the season.

What if Seraphin had an Arenas-like gym rat effect? Suddenly, Blatche, McGee, and Yi join him in the gym for games of 2 on 2, and he makes them learn a little French too, in order to understand his basic instructions.

Agreed. With more minutes and more starts, he'll likely start to learn some things. If he doesn't, oh well.
The Wizards could have done better w/ McGee, just as they could have w/ Kwame and some other bigs. Why invest millions in what is clearly a project, and not throw everything at the player to insure that he improves. I just see them (and other teams) in situations like this just shrug their shoulders, like they can't figure out training and motivation. I hope Leonsis is more willing than Pollin was to spend on such additional personnel as is needed to micromanage training of unschooled projects. It's not too late w/ McGee, but it will be soon.
