I am going to play the Devil's Advocate?
Has anyone ever seen Kanter play?
Dosent he have equal or more bust potential than Vesely
What if he is the next Klein?
What are we expecting from Kanter in his prime...a 17-10 guy?
Who is Enes Kanter and why dosent he play basketball?
How is his knee?
Why is he Jonthan V from Draft Express 12 rated prospect?
How does Jonathan V from Draft Express make money anyway? Who actually pays him

I don't recall all that much controversy about the Young pick. There was disappointment that Detroit grabbed Stuckey right ahead of us, but once we were on the clock, Young seemed like the best player available - or at least there was no other player that people ranked significantly higher.
There was a certain poster who was adomant that N1 was not as good as some bust from Rice...name slipping mind. Other than that I think the reaction was positive. I do remember RealGM crashed on the night of the 2007 draft
I think it was Morris Almond...who is out of the league

He was a top 10 recruit, plays physical D, and can rebound. He played great against Williams in the tourney, and he still has alot of upside. I'd take him over Vessly and Leonard in a second. Besides, next year should have much better SFs anyways.
He was rated #3 overall by Hollinger, and i've read multiple opinions that say he could be the sleeper of the draft. Strong D and rebounding sounds like the perfect fit next to McGee or Blatche. Hopefully, McGee will continue to improve offensively, and Thompson can develope a mid range J. That would be perfect. Thoughts?
I have no interest in Thompson. He's a small PF (height and weight) with next to no offensive skills. Teaming him up with Javale (and not to mention Seraphin) leaves farrrrrr too little offensive skill on this team.
He's got a a standing reach of 9-0 1/2 which is by no means undersized. His standing reach is the highest of any draft worthy PF in this year's draft. His weight at 227 is fine for a 20 yr old PF just entering the league. Yes, his skill level needs to improve but every single prospect in this draft has flaws. He can defend at a high level, he can rebound, he can finish and he excels at drawing fouls.

Looks good to me.
Word is Orlando is going to try to flip Miller's expiring/non-guaranteed deal -- perhaps for Josh Smith.

You and I are very different. If I'm a GM, I'd actually care about my players. And there's no chance that I'd pick a player who said he didn't want to play for my team.

It seems most on this board are pretty down on him but just a few months ago, we were all touting him as the perfect running-mate and building block for Wall and the Wizards.
I can see the logic in this.
Unfortunately, we don't really have the parts to satisfy Minnesota's needs. They want a capable youngish vet. We don't have one. Unless we include McGee, we really only have enough trade chips to get us up to #3. Utah would then take our package, add Millsap to move up to #2.
I guess that's where I disagree with most here - I have absolutely no problem dealing McGee. I see his potential but I also see that he may never realize his potential. He's had all the opportunities in the world to be a sound, fundamental basketball player but he's seemingly always taken the easy way out. If we don't have the option of trading him for Williams, then the wait-and-see approach with JaVale is fine, but when you have the option of adding a legitimate running-mate and #2 option to go along with Wall and you have to give up a head-case with questionable work ethic, you do it.
i agree with this. I like McGee, but I like Williams more.

Those were questions i was posing when this whole process began. But I eventually became satistfied that Kanter could be an NBA big man. I'm not expecting an All-Star, but seeing what Marc Gasol did in the playoffs gives me hope for Kanter. But I don't see him being able to play with McGee.

He's got a small frame. I'd say that when you have basically no offensive game, that's more than just a flaw that every single prospect has. And on what basis do you say he's a good rebounder?

If true, this rumor says we end up with the 3rd pick.

Utah Targeting Derrick Williams in 3 Team Deal
Derrick WilliamsWe're hearing that there is a 3 team deal in the works between Utah, Washington and Minnesota.
The deal would send the 6th pick and players (and/or cap relief) to Minnesota.
Utah would get the 2nd pick and is targeting Derrick Williams.
Washington would get the 3rd pick and is targeting Enes Kanter.
And Minnesota would move back and dump salary or add veterans such as Paul Millsap.
Minnesota might not be done at that as there is speculation that they would trade 6 to either move down again or add more established veterans.
The deal would likley involve established players. Some names that have been mentioned: Jonny Flynn and Devin Harris.

Ahhh, I'd forgotten about the Smith-to-Orlando rumor. Miller+Anderson+Orton+21 for Smith? Atlanta gets cap relief, young bigs, and a pick. Could really work if they were able to get Vucevic at 21 and then moved Horford to PF.

Why when they have Tyler and McRoberts already? I can understand them
thinking that Paul George makes Granger superfluous and expensive
but not sure how Milsap helps them very much.

A justifiable concern. EG hasn't done well with trades (except the draft day trade for Booker's rights was pretty nice).
Nevertheless, I can't escape the conclusion that neither Minnesota, Utah, or Washington seem particularly happy with the best player available at their respective draft position. A trade makes a lot of sense and I think it's likely that trade discussions are in the works. It really boils down to the details. How much incentive is required to move up?
EG did great with the moves to acquire then unload Hinrich

In that scenario, we'd have the #5 + #18 as trade bait. Surely, Utah would trade us the #3 for that package. They still end up with Knight (at a lower pay scale) while picking up the #18 for their trouble.
A lot of this may have to wait until the draft shakes out. We may see Minny draft Williams, Utah draft Kanter, Cleveland draft Valanciunas, and Toronto draft Knight. Then there would be a ton of wheeling and dealing while the Wizards are on the clock.
But wouldn't that essentially equal out to 6+18+Seraphin for Kanter? Didn't we already decide that was too much?
Yes, it would essentially equal out to 6+18+Seraphin for Kanter.
It's a bit more than I'd like to pay, but I believe I stated in an earlier post that this would be the maximum I'd consider sacrificing for Kanter. I'm not thrilled about it, but I'd definitely consider it.
I'd like it a lot better if it was 6+34+Seraphin for #3. Utah might still go for it. Remember, the premise is that Utah really wants Knight anyhow. This gets them a high 2nd rounder and the right to pay Knight less money than they would if they had drafted him at #3.

Don't forget everyone in this rumor has an extra 1st round pick and we are the only ones with a 2nd.
MInn getting 6 and 12 (and millsap)
utah getting 2 and 18 (and ridnauer or flynn)
dc getting 3 and 20 (and sending seraphim, 34 or blatche to whomever needs to be enticed)
is the foundation for a solid trade that makes everyone happy. please please let it happen.
utah gets a star, a pg and gets out of having to draft jimmer, minnesota gets their post defender and moves up their second pick, while we get our low post offense and still have a second pick.
If everything falls together it could be...
Minn = Biyombo, Walker and Millsap
Utah = Williams, Flynn and Burks
DC = Kanter and Fareid
would toronto do a simple 5 for 6 and 34 since they dont have a 2nd rounder? that would eliminate the possibility that they take biyombo over knight.

true.
I suppose EG has been a mixed bag with regards to trades. The Hinrich trades were good. The Booker trade was good. The Jamison dump was good. The #5 for Jamison trade was so so. The Butler/Haywood dump was bad. The Crittenton acquisition was bad. The Miller/Foye trade was horrible (especially after seeing Kahn dump Etan so easily afterwards).

I'd put a lot more credence in what he said about letting the pros
run things when it comes to basketball decisions. And EG could have
asked him to generate yet more smoke which I suspect he would be
more than happy to do. He doesn't actually say what you said he said.
