I suspect the Wizards won't win much without Beal, and that if Wall tries to score >30 every game it will look ugly.

So if the Wizards struggle with Temple/Rice playing big minutes that means it must be Wall's fault. OK

No, the jury is still out on whether you'll ever admit that you've been so far off-base on this.

Only the haters like yourself would say Wall hasn't improved, hasn't worked on his game or has a low bball IQ.

Yea, it's hard to argue against Wall being able to "run an NBA offense." Wall is tied for second in the league in assists, despite having some mediocre scoring options to pass to.

With Rose out with a season ending injury and Rondo still hurt, saying Wall is the best PG in the East really isn't saying much other than that he is better than Kyrie Irving. Looking at the entire Eastern Conference though, where do you guys have John Wall- among James, George, Hibbert, Wade, Horford etc. Saying Wall is a top 5 player in the East may not say how good Wall is but rather how bad the Eastern Conference is compared to the Western Conference where you have Parker, Duncan, Dirk, Harden, Howard, Paul, Marc Gasol, Kobe (assuming he recovers), among others.

He gets a large number of assists because no defender can stay in front of him, in the no hand checking era, and when defenders help that leaves players open for 3 pointers. It's Wall's best trait.

If Wall is "the best PG in the East" or whatever that implies, he should be able to take any NBA roster and get it in the neighborhood of .500.

Yes it is "on Wall" as a max player and a PG. That's what it means to be a max player.

This is silliness. In Wall's case, being a "max player" meant this was the most the Wizards could sign him for under the current CBA given his seniority in the league. His "max" salary is $700K more than Nene's salary when the deal kicks in. So isn't there just as much heat on Nene.

By the way, seeing as that "max" money doesn't kick in until next year, should he play under a different standard this season?

Didn't the Wizards go 24-26 when Wall came back? And that was with the injuries to Beal, Nene, Ariza, and Webster. Wall seemed like the only player who was healthy during that stretch. He made Temple look so good that he got another contract.

Well, he made Temple look good enough to the Wizards' front office that he got another contract. Temple was a significantly below average player last season -- with and without Wall.

JJ, your definition of a "max player" only really applies to a Lebron/ Durant type - who are truely the only real "max" free agents if it was a free market system. The reality is your definition doesn't fit the what a max player is in this system. Additionally as jeffsays pointed out, Wall took a medicore supporting cast to a near .500 record. So according to your definition, he was a max player last year...Thanks for proving he's the best PG in the east!

A tyical NBA roster doesn't have bums on the bench like the Wizards do. I have no problem holding Wall accountable for his own play. However i am not going to expect him to turn a turd into a Snickers.

welp, I think we're about to see aggressive Wall back with all of these injuries. He seems to play more free when he's forced into the number 1 option offensively.

If he can continue his hot shooting, he'll put up 30 every night.

I think we already know how this prediction will turn out. Wall just won his second NBA player of the week award less than two weeks after this post.

This post i can agree with, although i take a different meaning from it than the one you intended.

John Wall on post game interview

Question: "30 points in the last 3 games. What kind of statement are you trying to make to the league?"
Wall: "Best point guard in the league. That's my statement."

you know what has been the most underrated thing about Wall that Ive noticed. He's a top notch, top notch, top notch speaker/interviewer. He literally says all the perfect things in an interview for the last year and a half. I mean literally nothing is dumb or weird. Everything makes sense and he its on all the key points you want him to. Just seems so smart & mature right now
