We worked pretty hard to choke that game away too. Turnovers and giving up offensive boards in the clutch. Ugh. Gortat missing a bunny from three feet. Really bad offensive possessions in general.

The clock ran out on GS, but we definitely didn't give them our best shot either.

If the Wiz had lost, Gortat was going to have a tough time living down that miss. Maybe it was psychologically a good thing - the Wiz would have been up 5 with 48 seconds left, so I'm thinking GS would have been more focused, and Wash would have let down on defense. But who knows - I'm just glad we won.

"Good shot, John. I'm they're going to leave you open, shoot it!"...is what I imagine him saying during the timeout

Yet no one has the urge to ask themselves...WHY is he always open for the long two? Maybe because it's part of a smart gameplan? Nah, couldn't be.

Wittman is probably thinking these are terrible shot like we do especially since they are coming early in the shot clock with no else touching the ball. It's not like Wittman can bench Wall and sometimes Wall can get away with just taking terrible shots.

Every time John makes one of those long 2's, it's almost a bad thing, because you know he's going to shoot that same shot next 2 times down court and miss them. But give him credit for making the Wiz only make down the stretch - a nice 3 pointer in the flow of the offense.

Thompson is 6'7 but, yeah... no excuse.

It happens. It was good help defense by Thompson although I guess Gortat should have anticipated him coming.

Beal has improved his 3 point shooting, I'm glad he showcased it in the 4th quarter.

It's literally the only thing he's improved...everything else has been the same. His handles are still bad, and his shot selection is still bad.

But tonight, his shooting was timely.

Wall should be allowed three types of shots: 3s, elbow Js, and drives to the hoop. No more 18-21 foot jumpers! What a clutch three though and holding curry (with help) to 8-23 with 6 TOs is impressive.

Great second half by Beal.

Webster. He's making some shots but isn't in rhythm and does. It have the handle to play the two.

One thing that Randy needs to at least try if the opponent's lineup allows it is to play Webster and Ariza together in the front court. We need a stretch four presence! Wall/beal didn't get one ft attempt and could not get the the basket cause of the clogged lane and sagging D. The one time we went small Wall went right by Barnes for an easy two,

Speaking of Barnes, GSW should have cashed-in this offseason. His value must be plummeting and he's really giving them nothing.

i was at the game tonight and boy did both teams stink up the joint! The Wiz had like 10 chances to put it away but had one terrible posetion after another. Beal couldnt hit anything early. Man is he undersized at the 2.
Nene looked like our best player early. Wall need to drive it to the hoop instead of always settling for jumpers.
We need to finish better. We missed a lot of chances at the rim. Given all that we played solid D and gutted out a win.

We played only one or two players off the bench. What the hell do we have a bench for? If were not gonna play anyone then we should gut the bench.

All in all though I liked our big man play. Those guys were getting violated down there an not getting any calls but they still did the dirty work.

Otto Porter didnt get off the bench

I warned about this last summer when he was injured. How was he suppose to improve his game?

I was going to take a nap so that I could wake up and watch the wizards play, except I ended up waking up at 530 am! I'm just happy that the wizards won and from what I hear, the game was very sloppy anyway. Oh well, on to LA!

Like others, I watched until halftime and then went to bed. I would have watched the whole game but was certain they would lose given how sloppy they were in the 1st half. Granted, the Warriors were just as sloppy but thought they would snap out of it at home. Glad I was wrong.

In any event, I am happy the Wiz won. Its just hard to get too excited, when I know deep down that the Wizards are still just an mediocre team that will bounce around .500 all year.

I'm curious. Did Maynor play in the second half? I got to give it to Witt...he always gives guys second chances. I just would not have given Maynor one. He is indeed horrible.

Maynor was benched, and rightfully so in the 2nd half. I like Temple, but he really is a 5th guard, he's forced into a tough spot. We really need SOMEONE to help the 2nd unit. Beal cannot be a primary ball handler out there. Maybe Maynor+singleton (since they don't have Gal for the rest of the season) has some appeal to denver... :/

Me too. Thank goodness we got a win early because 0-5 and slipping 6 games below .500 would have been back breaking.

As it stands, Brooklyn is still probably going to pass us and we're going to be in a battle to catch up with Chicago and Toronto and Atlanta all season long.

Got the game on tape but not sure if i want to watch it. Looks like it was a brick/turnover fest. I can't believe WAll/Beal combined for 11 turnovers/37% shooting and we still won.

re the game - to our credit, we got GS to play down to our level.
Clips don't have CP3 right? We could win that game too. I don't know
how to explain it, but we are much better on the road, well better anyway.
