Jokes on us. Boston is only going to get better (probably).

Watching this makes me a bit mad that the Wizards managed never managed to devise a scheme to take the two players that consistently beat us in this series out of the game, we let the Celtics get all of the shots they wanted.

J.R. Smith with the circus shot at the buzzer just to stick the knife in deeper.
72-31 at the half. Not a typo.

They have to resign Thomas & Bradley in a year. I doubt both are back. Their biggest need is another big to play alongside Horford. Olynyk (despite his game 7 heroics) isn't good enough IMO. They have a Euro big coming in next year, so we'll see if he gives them a lift.
Smart, IMO, stinks. He's too much of a negative on offense to resign to an extension. He's certainly got defensive versatility, but he's a self-check on offense (despite his 2 back-breaking 3s in game 7). Rozier is a better backup PG.

Agreed. I like Scott Brooks and think he did a good job on player development, but his X's and O's leave a lot to be desired. I'm content to stick with Brooks for another year or two to continue with the player development, but we're eventually going to need to change coaches and find a true strategist if we ever want to win a title. Or maybe Brooks can find a strong assistant coach.

Brooks was an upgrade no doubt, but it was an uninspiring hiring and when you compare the Wizards and Celtics top to bottom it's not a stretch to say the Stevens got the best of Brooks in this series.
The Cavaliers are consistently forcing the ball out of Thomas hands and when he makes his pass Cleveland players have a clear idea of where they need to be. They're not consistently make the right reads, but they're doing it well enough to disrupt the flow of the Celtics offense.
Fatique is a factor too I'm sure, but the days of practice shots is pretty much over for Boston in this series. They have to work for their shots and when they get them they're contested more often than not.
Then again the Wizards struggles on defense aren't that hard to fathom when you look at how poorly they've played after the break.

Tristan Thompson is a frigging bargain. Dude's a great defender, and to think we're paying Mahinmi just as much.

Number 1 pick and another top pick in 2018? Also Hayward seems like a huge possibility. Bradley being gone isn't exactly a negative...

Knicks are going to be the worst team in the NBA next year once they trade Melo. The Nets are devoid of talent, but I like their coaching staff, and they'll be back. Nevertheless, they'll get a top 5 pick for sure.

The Wizards did do this to Boston in Game 3 and 2nd half of Game 4.
The defense was never consistent after the break though.

The Cs are now down by 50 points. 110-60. Not a typo.

Bradley is a very good player. He's easily the 3rd best guy on their team.

How do you let a team take you down 50 freaking points in your own house and not put one of those guys on the ground with a hard foul? In hockey, someone would put in their goon and there would be a good fight. NBA needs that.

We obviously would've lost to the Cavs. Maybe we wouldve gotten our asses handed to us like the Celtics are, maybe not. However, I'd be lying if I said I'm not enjoying this. I hope the Celtics get a fluke win in Cleveland so they can get pummeled in front of their home crowd one more time and have Little Isaiah quit on his team again. /rant

Pretty great in game 1 as well -- an amazing player, & just an extraordinarily focused competitor! Hate him as your opponent but, man... he gets all the respect in the world.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 4
I would have been pretty surprised if the Spurs had beaten the Warriors in a series if Leonard had been healthy. Durant and the Thunder managed to beat the Spurs last year. Even if you can argue if the Spurs would have better (seems less likely you can make this case now with the absence of Parker and Duncan), Durant has a much better supporting cast than he did with OKC.
