Am I the only one who gets nice and aroused when a video pops up on NBA.COM with a press conference video titled 'Hawks Lament Mental Lapses As Season Ends'?

Phil and buck goes together pbj. Why break up something amazing when he dedicated his entire life to broadcasting after he retire from playing? :(

Ouch. When was the last time the wiz had a good Sunday afternoon game? They always come out sleepwalking.

Make the game thread early and we build good juju with proper animal kingdom pics.

Done. It's in your hands now Mojo.

This will be a tough series. Boston is good.

Kwahi pop and Duncan have rings..u give wall a big man with Duncan caliber on both sides and it's easy wins...

U give wall a coach like pop and it'd over with for the league

To even put the blame on Wall is absurd. Look at what the front office has done for Wall, look at the defensive system of San Antonio (that somehow gets away with playing Parker huge minutes).

What the hell are you talking about? What did I ever blame Wall for. I think he's fantastic. Just think Leonard is special. Do you think Kawhi has a great team in San Antonio? He doesn't. He had a lot of old heads and Aldridge. Yes, great coach and system in San Antonio but Kawhi brings it in both ends better than every player. Did anybody watch the Memphis Game 4 when he simply carried the Spurs into overtime but Gasol finished it for the Grizz? He's spectacular but does it in a quiet way. Love John, but again, until you can get past the second round, you aren't going to get great national respect.

Kwahi has a great team
It's not jus old heads
Even though the old heads are the best old heads in the league...
Parker ginobli gasol those guys know how to win championships
With younger guys like mills, green, and the guy that dunks on everyone
Not to mention Aldridge was a top 3 pf...not so long ago...

And the best coach in the league for the last couple of years...

We could've closed this out quick if pop was coaching that game where Wall only missed a few shots...

I think Leonard is a great player the 3rd best sf in the league but don't underestimate San Antonio cast and coaching...they're pedigree and coaching has been the best for the last 10 years
Pay your beals....or its lights out!!!

I love Phil Chenier, such a shame that this was his last game :|

You don't generally see him get caught up in the game, but there's been a couple of times this series where the Chenier's typically reserved demeanor gave way for some genuine emotional involvement (for him).

In last night's game, ever so briefly, you could tell how much into it Chenier was when both Wall and Beal were playing a pretty dangerous game getting trapped and harassed near the sideline as Atlanta was looking to close the gap.

"GET OUT OF THERE JOHN!", that's as emotional as I've seen Chenier over the years, ever the professional, but a genuine love for this franchise.

I'll miss the throwback trivia questions with Chenier typically on top of the answer providing a little window into the history of this team.

Such a shame to see him go out like this, a fresh voice, GET THE **** OUT OF HERE WITH THAT bull!

Chenier earned the right to go out on his own terms, CSN better get this right.

Loved the game...but this moment kinda ruined it. I didn't realize that there were wiz "fans" that wanted a shake up with the broadcast but I am not one of them. With the up and (wayyyyyy) down nature of the Bullets/Wiz, Phil and Buck were the only consistently good thing we had with this franchise since the 70s. Bad management move but unfortuantly unless they trade Wall, this move wont hurt the ratings or money because John just put the Wiz/WallStar in the national spotlight so next year people will be tuning in to see the Wiz/WallStar play ball. I hate when management makes a move that clearly hates the product but they dont suffer for it because the product improves in some other area so the mistake is hidden.

Thanks Phil for the years

This is laughable....dont fall for this backhanded compliment. "One of the best point guards in the east"....HI-Fing-Larious

East guards
T.J. McConnell (Philadelphia 76ers), Jeremy Lin, Rondo,Malcolm Brogdon, the carcass of Derrick Rose, Reggie Jackson, Jeff Teague, Goran Dragic, Scccchröder (use German accent to say his name), Kemba, Isiah, Kyle 'Intermittent performance' Lowery, Uncle Drew (hard shot taker- big shot maker...but actually the 2 on cavs)...

Now who is this list is as good as John at POINT GUARD... (notice no question mark because im not asking you...my comment was retorical). Kyrie, Kemba and Isiah all would be better 2 guards than John but not point because they are score first guards. Derrick Rose's career is like RG3s - oft injured and doesnt appear to be smart enough to change his game to match his bodies capabilities. Rondo and Gordon are decent but not on the same level as John at this point in thier careers...but can play point. Brogdon too young to tell. TJ tries hard so i respect that...but the talent ceiling is there and there is nothing he can do about it... Houston, Lakers, NYKnicks know what the Nets will find out next year...Lin cant be your starting point guard if you want to be a winning team. Teague...blah. Reggie appears to be a bad teammate. And Kyle is aight but is too inconsistent at the big moments to be elite.

These types of 'compliments' should PISS john off. Separate yourself from the pack JW. Oh btw...Beal should do the same thing if someone says Beal is ONE OF THE BEST TWO GUARDS IN EAST...he should make his list and go get Derozen and ask what position does Butler play and ON AND ON AND ON...

I couldn't watch the game live last night but managed to find an archived stream this morning. A couple of observations:

* Jason Smith gave some real good minutes in the 1st quarter after Gortat picked up his 2nd foul. He got backed down in the post by Howard in his first minutes and it looked it was going to be a rough night. But he then drew a foul from Howard, contested several shots on penetration, and overall did a nice job in a critical spot. I also liked him stepping in to defend Beal after Bazemore shoved him. What a great teammate.

* Speaking of the altercation: Gortat and Morris left the bench, but it looked like they left the bench to celebrate a fast break layup from Beal. They both had already turned their back just as Beal got up to chest-bump Bazemore so they clearly weren't a part of the altercation.

* That full-court, one-touch, alley-oop lob from Jennings to Bogdanovic was incredible!

* Wall's court vision on the fast break is the best I've seen since Magic. It's impossible to defend when he's got guys like Porter and Beal in the corner and Gortat or Morris trailing.

* Wall and Beal combined for 7 steals and 3 blocks, many of them were in the lane, breaking up would have otherwise been points. Their quick hands was the difference in the game, leading to many fast breaks. Oubre had 5 steals as well.

* I like that Brooks used Oubre to guard Schroeder as much as possible. Oubre was decent against him, but more importantly, it allowed Wall get some rest.

* Beal only took three 3-pointers. Atlanta was clearly focusing their defense on taking away that part of his game. I love that he now has the game to score with efficiency even without the 3-point shot. He finished with 31 points on a TS% of .755.

* Bogdanovic missed two WIDE OPEN 3's from the corner in the last 5 minutes. Porter missed a wide open three too. The 4th quarter could have been much easier. Fortunately, Wall wasn't interested in playing Game 7.

Yea the fact that people even feel the need the state "best PG in the East" is embarassing and the back-handed compliment is straight up insulting. He was one of the best PGs in the east in 2015.

I still hate how people never compare Wall to West Point guards. I wonder how many people would rather have Westbrook on their team instead of Wall, honestly.

The bottom line is that Wall is the best guard in the East and a top 4 player in the East. Lebron is the best player. After that, it's Giannis, Wall and Butler in some order. Wall is definitely ahead of the next tier of guys which includes Derozan, Kyrie, Irving, George, Thomas, Lowry and Beal.

I have a big problem with Butler being in the top 4, give me George instead. Butler cannot control the offense like Wall does, nowhere near the number of points Wall generates for himself and teammates. Too often does he have a performance of ISO midrange chucking. This playoff series was enough to show his true value.

And honestly how much can a high usage offensive wing player impact the defense? Every defensive wing/guard is overrated to some degree, everyone goes by reputation. So it's pretty safe to say Butler isn't shutting anyone down.

Lebron then Wall...Giannis is coming but he aint there yet...if Butler your best player "say hello to long term struggling to make the playoffs and 1st round exits" unless you surround him with a ton of talent and good coaching. Butler is real good cause he put in honest work to get better and he is a great story of growth but not a mercurial talent like Wall and Giannis.

PG lost me when he A.demanded the last shot after passing the ball away. B. Has never made a last second shot so why does he think he deserves to take the shot. C. Drove the bus that he threw his on team mates under (unforgivable sin). Think about this, what do you think Russ could have said about Roberson's free throw performance or the teams inablity to score when he was on the bench? But he didnt...he said "talk about my failures or our failures not thier failures"... the players have to love Russ for being the leader in deed and action...the players have to hate PG for being the best player but the worse teammate. PG has a ton of talent but a huge leadership character flaw that prevents him from being anything but a really good player but he is no Wall or has the upside of Giannis. Butler and PG would be the 3rd best player on Wiz...yeah i think Brad better than PG for a lot of reasons...

Butler averaged 23 points, 6 boards and 5 assists this year with an ORtg of 123. Durant is the only 20+ per game scorer who scores more efficiently than Butler. Butler is also one of the best wing defenders in the game. And he is consistently among the league leaders in total minutes played. He is really, really good.

I like him over George because George is way too reliant on perimeter shooting. He can't create very much off the bounce, and if his jumper isn't falling he can't manufacture ways to score.

For AFM and Mojo Amok:

1:33 of the trailer. Much better shot of me smiling in the movie. Directly behind Zac (Effron) at the pool area. (Don't know him and only accidentally spoke to him during a night scene while sets were being changed). In the movie you see my aloha shirt a LOT-- like Mr. Effron's halo. I'm a wide dude. :). Again, I had a great time and the principal actors were super cool and professional.

AFM the guy at 0:05 is professional comedian and super nice guy, Lavell Crawford.

Lavell Crawford (Comedian).
https://goo.gl/search/Lavell+Crawford

True story, I encountered this big guy at around 5:30 or six AM my very first day on any acting set... (June 2015)

Dude seemed to be a black man, but was definitely lookin local. Big T shirt. Chillax. Samoan was my assumption. He looked like security or part of craft services. I politely asked him where the bathroom was. He showed me the portables. Nothing else said beside me saying, "Thanks".

I was surprised to see him being a principal actor! The script called for Lavell Crawford to be a relative of the groom. The man is GREAT at remembering his lines. Obviously, he's a great dude not full of himself.

I don't know who "legion hoops" is, but I'd just dismiss that as sloppy writing rather than get into another of these boring things where Cobra feels obliged to somehow "prove" how great John Wall is. Especially when the way you do it is to talk another player down. John doesn't become better b/c you undercut Jimmy Butler, any more than he'd become worse if two Michael Jordans entered the league next year.

Wall had a tremendous series overall -- but, as I just wrote in the JW appreciation thread...

John Wall's 4th quarter last night was one for the ages!

Wall came back in w/ @ 8.5 minutes left, & immediately blocked Schroder's open layup. Then he went on to dominate the rest of the game totally, leading a defense that held the Hawks to only 9 more points while himself scoring 17 of our last 22 points by going 6-8 from the floor & 5-6 from the line. Wow...!

What a great, great performance -- & what a great victory. & what a treat to be going into R2 against a potentially vulnerable Celtics team. This is a moment to enjoy not to be defensive.

Return to Washington Wizards
