If Trae can really commit to not being negative on D not even a good defender just not negative.
Add some weight. Like put on 15 20 lb really start eating more calories, hi protein bulking menu with a shake a day.

Like the mans 6'2 160. He needs to make an effort to get to 180 maybe 190 to really have the power to play real D. Why that hasn't been a focus I don't know. It's not too late to transform your body at 27 especially when you're as fit as Trae already is. It's just a matter of calories in steel up and down. As thin as he is he's basically been in a cut for years more or less. If he makes a serious bulking effort he can definitely get 15 - 20 lb or useful muscle by next October if he the staff starts him on it now.

My initial reaction to this trade was based upon the fact that I didn’t understand what the front office’s plan was for Trae.

I still not sure what the plan is, but I think we can rule out that they view him as a tank commander, so they really didn’t get fleeced by not getting any assets.

If they sign him for less than $30 million a year, I think it could be a very good trade. If they sign him for more than $40 million a year, it will probably be an awful trade. If they don’t sign him, but move him next season, it could possibly be a very good trade.
Viva le tank! At this pace, it will never end.

To me its simple. Our young guys need reps in running a Pro level half-court offense. Similar to football with a solid QB with a limited ceiling. You know he wont make you a contender, but at least he is running the play correctly and on time.
Basically, Trae taking the role of lead guard/initiator allows the other guys to play the roles that they will inevitably fill in their prime.

He's taking 22 shots per 36 with a TS of 45%. Not the way to endear yourself to a new team.

The coach doesn’t have to play CJ, or his minutes could be reduced, his game is not helping ATL.

Yeah, CJ was probably in the best spot for his skillset at this stage of his career. He's a scorer but not a playmaker. But he is no longer good enough to score at a super high efficiency. So he needs to be on a team that has few other offensive options, so he is the best of a bunch of bad choices. Washington was perfect.

On a better team, he should probably be relegated to an instant-offense bench scorer, sort of like Tim Hardaway in Denver.

CJ gonna CJ. They shouldn't be surprised. Hawks just need to bench him - doubt they're going to be able to flip him. Kispert should be helping them though.

I'm excited to see Trae with our group. Just watched a few highlight videos of him. Jordan Poole had a pretty good handle but Trae is just next level. Most exciting player we've had in a while. At least since Westbrook was dunking on people but probably going back further to Wall.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

CJ did hit the game winner against the Bucks a few weeks ago. What you did yesterday is the most important in the hive mentality.

So, 10-15 games is what Monumental’s people are expecting Trae to play this season…

By the last 15 games, the Wizards should be well behind the fifth-worst team, and the bottom-three should be pretty much a lock if the Wizards do not win more than 6 or 7 games.

As I mentioned the other day, the last 18 games are going to be brutal...which is perfect:
Magic, Detroit X2, Boston, GSW X2, OKC, Philly, LAL, Miami X2, Portland, Cavs, NYK... Even the Bulls (X2) are a .500 team

Only the Nets and Jazz game are clearly winnable

Return to Washington Wizards
