Dame, looks like Dom's getting the Bron' for turning his back on the Kings! :o

Sacramento Kings owners Joe & Gavin Maloof posted this letter on the team's website after Dominic McGuire’s announcement that he was leaving for the Charlotte Bobcats (Note – the preceding and proceeding may or may not have actually occurred. Taxes not included. Your mileage may vary.)

Dear Sacramento, All of Northeast California and Sacramento Kings Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening (San Diego – close enough), is no longer a Sacramento King.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. However, as it was on the "We" channel at the exact same moment as LeBron James’ announcement, you may have missed it.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

Always liked Popeye. Couldn't be a nicer guy. Smart and incredibly hard-working too.

Juan Dixon banned by FIBA one year for steroid use (ban expires Feb. 2011 as he gets time credited for what he has already served).

deja vu? he's been popped before for steroid abuse hasn't he? isn't that why he's playing international ball instead of NBA/DL in the first place?

the European steroid abuse is the only case I've ever heard about for JD. He has been living in limbo for about 7 months now, so you might just be conflating the beginning and end stories in your mind as two separate occasions. btw, his story is that it was a dodgy over-the-counter supplement sold in Europe. the answer to that is always, 'don't be stupid about taking things you know nothing about.' but it being the cause might not be implausible.

Off the Hoopsworld WIretap:

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/0 ... ional.html

The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Antawn Jamison in mid-February. They wanted a wingman to complement LeBron James. After 12 NBA seasons, almost all of them as the star on a bad or mediocre team, Jamison wanted a championship.

But the Cavaliers crashed and burned in the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston and crashed and burned again two weeks ago when LeBron giddily announced he was leaving Cleveland for the Miami Heat.

"I was disappointed," Jamison says Thursday at his basketball camp at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail. "I only got to play with him two months."

Are the Cavaliers your team now?

"If I'm there, yeah," Jamison says.

He laughs.

"They might want to go young, or in a different direction," he says.

Jamison has two years remaining on a $28million contract.

Good luck with that Antawn, not this year at least. Next year you'll be an expiring deal so it should be easier. I do hope before he retires he can play on a strong team and play the role that is best suited for him, coming off the bench and providing a strong scoring punch.

I think Jamison is movable because the final year of his contract will take place during the lockout so much of it won't need to be paid. Furthermore, his contract comes off the books in the Summer of 2012 just when the new CBA is going to kick in.

does anyone know if Haywood received any invites from the Olympic committee to join the trials? he has a good rep for defense and averaged nearly a double-double last year. seems like they were desperate for big men too.

why chandler over wood? also, after dallas spent so much on wood, why did they go for chandler too? :)

He wasn't a player, but I saw Robin Ficker live and in-person at a Giant in Germantown/Clarksburg yesterday. He was asking for signatures on a petition for term limits. One guy got him to do a "Pervis, you're making me nervous" for old times sake.

Wood is a much better player than either Chandler or McGee. What about Al Horford? Is he on the team? What about Kaman?

Yeah Kaman plays for Germany in Olympics.....

Horford plays for the Dominicans whenever they qualify for anything. He's part of the DR's Olympic basketball revival plan. His father/family are as Dominican as they come.....his family would beat him if he ever played for the US. The whole Alex Rodriguez Dominicsn vs American debacle ensured that no self-respecting Dominican with dual citizenship ever plays for anyone other than DR in anything. :)
