Melo Trimble to Train with NBA MVP Steph Curry

Maryland rising sophomore Melo Trimble has been invited to Steph Curry's 'SC30 Select Camp' in California this summer as a college counselor.

In addition to working out with the recently named NBA MVP, Trimble will get a chance to help teach 20 of the best high school guards (10 point guards and 10 shooting guards), including four with Maryland offers: Markelle Fultz, Josh Jackson, Frank Jackson and Trevon Duval.

The Under Armour-sponsored camp, which is in its second year, gives top high school and college guards four days to receive hands-on training from one of the NBA's best talents. A date for the event has yet to be announced officially.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

why couldn't it go like this - sulaimon was a top 30 kid coming in and did well his freshman year; nba in a year or two is a very distinct possibility. sophmore year, his pt was cut because of parker, which he handles poorly by telling k that he wants more time. jones and winslow are next year's class and k decides to make an example of rasheed. sulaimon publicly confronts his coach about this and k has no choice but to cut him at that point.

i hope he comes to maryland. perfect fit for what the team and the player both need. let wiley come along slowly, he just turned 19.

Thanks for giving us those updates, WP. I guess you were right on Sulaimon. Turgeon wouldn't have taken him on unless he did his due diligence. The Terps will be almost absurdly loaded for at least one season. Preseason #1?

ESPN should demand Duke vs. Maryland in the ACC-Big Ten challenge.

Sulaimon: Maryland "a Perfect Fit."

Rasheed Sulaimon knew there were more opportunities for individual accolades and playing time elsewhere, but his respect for Mark Turgeon and the chance to contend for a title at Maryland sealed the deal for the former Duke guard, whose commitment became public Monday afternoon.

"I've been knowing coach Turgeon and coach [Dustin] Clark since the seventh grade, and that's what it came down to," Sulaimon, a 6-foot-5 Houston native who was recruited heavily by Turgeon and Clark at Texas A&M in high school -- and again following his dismissal from Duke in January -- told InsideMDSports. "It was big ... I know I only have one year, so I wanted to go to a place where I trusted the coaches.

"From president [Wallace] Loh to [athletic director] Kevin Anderson down to my teammates, everyone really embraced me," said Sulaimon, who will return to College Park with his family in June for an official visit.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I picture Trimble being MUCH more of a distributor next season. He'll take it upon himself to score when the team needs him - which won't be often. Why should he - he'll be playing with 4 offensive-minded NBA draft picks.

I'm not worried about that.

We'll be the type of team that might have a different leading scorer each game.

We'll be Kentucky...except we can actually shoot. :)

I am guessing a possible rotation like this

Trimble-Brantley
Sulaimon-Wiley
Layman-Nickens
Carter-Dodd-Bender
Stone-Cekovsky

They will be n2 in my preseason rankings, just below UNC.

Rasheed Sulaimon on joining Maryland: ‘I can bring energy’

While Rasheed Sulaimon’s longstanding trust in Maryland coach Mark Turgeon and assistant coach Dustin Clark served as the backbone in his decision to commit to the Terrapins on Monday, the former Duke guard was also attracted to the prospect of contributing to a star-studded lineup in College Park next season.

“I’m a basketball junkie and I love watching basketball at every level. And I have a lot of respect for the guys that are already on the team,” Sulaimon said Monday. “I just want to come in and fit in with the guys.”

“I have a lot of confidence in my abilities, starting off at the defensive end. I feel like we’re talented enough offensively that things will happen naturally. Basketball players are going to go out there and play basketball. Defense, I can bring that. I can bring energy,” Sulaimon said.

He will continue to train and hone his game while he completes his degree in sociology this summer at Duke. The Houston native said that he has a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach from his hometown who have been keeping him on a “disciplined regimen,” and he’s poised to remain in shape before he enrolls at Maryland in August.

“Right now I’m focused on getting my degree. Everything is contingent on me graduating from Duke, first and foremost. So I’m focused on that,” Sulaimon said. “I have been working out, I have trainers. I’m staying in shape, as well as finishing my degree.”

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

That's probably it. Hopefully Bender doesn't mind coming to America to sit on the bench. His younger brother's projected to be a 2016 lotto pick. I'd expect to see a 3 man guard rotation for most of the minutes - with Trimble, Brantley, and Sulaimon. Wiley and Nickens are going to have to settle for less PT than I'm sure they were expecting. Nickens may be more talented, but I'm more a Wiley fan. They'll both get PT when they're juniors. Same with Cekovsky - who could eventually develop into a nice player.
