Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXI
I absolutely do not believe that these Republican politicians are not motivated by hate. I believe what's in front of my face. By logical extension, the people that voted for them are also. This is obviously what they want.
All this crap about evangelicals believing deeply in blah blah BLAH BLAH. I'm not an idiot. I see the hatred all around me. Don't punch me in the face and then say "why are you hitting yourself?"

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXI
it's almost as if these legislators and judges are willfully ignorant as to both the practical implications as well as underlying workings relating to their policy decisions but plowed ahead with their hack agenda without regard to the chaotic fallout of advancing that hack agenda.

That's giving them the benefit of the doubt. By now, with all the evidence in front of me, it's hard to believe the hatred is not the point. They're not trying to accomplish anything. They just want to hurt people. Burden of proof is on them now to prove they have good intentions because this *waves around* is not evidence of good intentions.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXI
Pro choice advocates have been explaining for decades what the consequences of laws like those in Texas or Ohio or Louisiana etc. are, so there is no excuse for passing them. If you passed them, you knew what would happen *and you are responsible for the consequences.*
"I didn't listen to those people because I hate them" *is not a valid excuse*

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXI
For context on Jan 6, the only thing we have to compare timelines with was Watergate.
Jan 27, 1972 - Break-in
Feb 7, 1973 - Senate approved investigation committee
March 1, 1974 - Grand jury indictment, naming Nixon an unindicted co-conspirator on the advice of the special prosecutor that a sitting president can't be indicted
vs.
January 6, 2021 - Insurrection
July 1, 2021 - House approved investigation committee
?
we're definitely on a slower timeline.

it's a shame we've created a system where the President is above the law.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXXI
So far very little reporting of actual deaths from the new forced birth laws. Medical science has improved that much maybe. Surprising because in Texas the prohibitions have been in place for much longer, so there should be some evidence to drive the debate there. Well, we'll see I guess. I really want to see the data now. How many less abortions are there now in Texas? How many women have died because they got botched abortions or couldn't get lifesaving care? Arguably, no woman should have to sacrifice her life to please the feelings of a deluded, possibly Satan-worshipping evangelical, but facts don't hurt either.
What we're going to see now is a lot of evil people trying to prosecute women and doctors for having/providing abortions outside of their own state.
Personally I would love for DC to pass a law encouraging people to press lawsuits against gun owners who bring legal guns into DC from VA and MD, so bring it on

Republicans all but admit how horrible they are for the country and yet we still get these “derp both parties are the same” takes. Voters need to pay attention and have no one to blame but themselves.
