And if he doesn't and he's banished to the bench, his nickname can be The Forbidden City.
If he's resigned (yikes!) his nickname can be The Five-Year Plan.
For his weakness and failure to defend, his nickname could be The Yellow River.
If he becomes a star, his nickname can be The Jian Dynasty.

Or maybe, just maybe, he might end up with a nickname entirely unrelated to his ethnicity or country of origin. Like maybe Stretch. There will be plenty of opportunities, but The Greta Wall of Chinatown's taken. Unless he buys it from Wall.

So does anyone know the story behind how Wall got #1 from Nick?

He didn't, he picked #2 (Shawn Livingston's number)...

John Wall picks No. 2
After talking approvingly of Nos. 3 and 15, John Wall switched things up and announced on Twitter that he'll be wearing No. 2 this season Wednesday evening. I guess it's 1 plus 1, which might refer to his previous uniform number of 11, which is retired in honor of Elvin Hayes

I don't know about a nickname for Arenas, but I am starting to like Flash for Wall for the following reasons:

1. This guy: Image Wall's signature trait is his speed, and it's other-worldly.

2. I'm fully aware that Wade has that nickname. I like the idea of deliberately antagonizing him. Howard co-opted Superman from Shaq (for what he did in a dunk contest, not on the court), and Wall is more deserving of the Flash moniker than D-Wade, so I say we steal it.

After all, nothing is given. So let's take it.

I dunno, maybe with Gil's buttery jumper we can call them "Flash n' Cash."

We could steal(or one up all the nicknames).

Heat
Flash(Wade)
King(LeBron)
Ru Paul(Bosh)

Wiz
Flash(Wall)
Emperor(Yi) - not that he has done anything to warrant this title, but it should annoy LeBron
Ron Paul(Arenas) - both Arenas and Ron Paul are a little crazy and entertaining

Haha. I like it verbal, I think we should just start referring to Yi as The King or even "King James." He's done about as much to warrant the title.

flash and dash? flash and smash?

i've always thought fat guy nicknames were WAY better than "cool" sounding nicknames.

john palm-the-ball wall...

what about blur?

what about a complete nonsequitur like... paintcan? i think i'm going to use paintcan for the next few weeks to see if it sticks.

Say no to Flash since that's already Dwayne Wade's. John Wall's previous nickname was "God's son". I was reading the dime magazine message board nicknames for John Wall and here are the interesting ones IMO:

The Pope
The Breeze
The Hybrid or Splice (since he's a combination of a pure point guard and scorer)
Sonic (from Sonic the Hedgehog)
Nestle (cuz he’s kwik)
Not Kwame
“Heeeere`s Johnny!!"
John “To The Window, To The" Wall

Sonic is kind of intriguing. He wore blue at Kentucky and he'll be wearing blue here.

Quicksilver was the Marvel version of The Flash. And he wore blue! It fits as well, because Agent Zero was a Marvel guy as well (he features in the Wolverine movie, he had superhuman reflexes and timing, he'd probably be able to shoot the ball like Arenas, so it fits!).

Unfortunately Quicksilver sounds like a horse.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.
