PAU (2010 FIBA World Championship) - France have been dealt a major blow ahead of the FIBA World Championship with Rodrigue Beaubois being ruled out after breaking his foot in practice.

The 22-year-old Dallas Mavericks guard broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot during a training session on Friday night.

What a shame for France and for the Mavs.

Wow, that is bad news.

Cuban has complained in the past about Dirk playing for Germany. I know he's miffed about Roddy Buckets getting hurt. Tyson Chandler is team USA's staring C, but he's also a Dallas Maverick now. And Chandler's had all kinds of foot problems. McGee could REALLY be getting some playing time if Chandler pulls out like Brook Lopez did. Stay tuned.

Mark Cuban's had bad luck. The other day his group got outbid by Nolan Ryan's for the Texas Rangers.

I think the guy who really has bad luck is Beaubois. No way he gets his minutes back from Dominic Jones. I'm picking up Jones late in fantasy. closq, if Dominic Jones is as good as I think he is, Dallas might not be in bad shape.

On Wednesday, Krzyzewski trimmed the roster to 15 by cutting O.J. Mayo, Tyreke Evans, Gerald Wallace and JaVale McGee. The final 12-man roster doesn't have to be submitted until two days before the
Aug. 28 start of the tournament in Turkey, but here's a prediction of who will make the cut.

You've got some catching-up to do dude, McGee was added back to the roster and Lopez is out.

Watch Ricky go to work, he's going to be the king of the no-look pass when he hits the NBA.

closq, the no look at the end was good, but the one at 2:30 is totally out of this world. I do not know how he did that.

After you mentioned that, I went back and watched that pass at 2:30 like 5 times, the dude literally has eyes in the back of his head, simply amazing.....and some people don't think he can play in the NBA

Both passes are impressive. The second one looks more amazing, but he looks right at the scorer just before the pass, moving toward the basket, then fakes the defenders while completing the pass. The one on the break meanwhile, behind his back while the scorer is in fast motion and barely following him, was just as impressive and could just as easily gone out of bounds or to a trailing defender, but it was right on the money. Both spectacular passes. It's a good sign for a PG, that teammates can apprehend the PG's habits and capitalize off them.

Anyone know whether or not these games will be streaming on ESPN.com or something? I'm having a hard enough time convincing my roommates to get cable for when the regular seasons starts, let alone convincing them to get it two months before the season to watch the FIBA tournament.

Those passes rubio are doing are against slower, less athletic and less coordinated players. I really think he will get exposed in the NBA, he will be good but not any better than some of the international guards we've seen already in Calderon or Arroyo.
Sit back and watch WALL WORK!! >:-)

Agreed.

I don't know that he's as good as Goran Dragic. That guy's an athletic, explosive scorer with PG skills. Rubio's really a first class distributor like Nash. Appears to be a ball hawk like Kidd. His drawback is he plays well below the rim and appears to be physically weak.

Brandon Jennings came back from Europe badmouthing Rubio as not the best he's seen, and I believe him.

I think Rubio's one of the best passers, but the rest of his game might not pan out. After being the hugest Wall basher on the board I believe John Wall is much more talented overall than Ricky Rubio.

Team USA warns players near cut line
"Certain players were told that they're right on the bubble and that New York is really very critical and important to them in terms of making the final roster," USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said.
>snip<
Three players were cut after the Las Vegas camp, so the remaining candidates are: forwards Kevin Durant, Lamar Odom, Rudy Gay, Danny Granger, Jeff Green and Kevin Love; guards Chauncey Billups, Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Andre Iguodala, Eric Gordon and Stephen Curry; and centers Tyson Chandler and JaVale McGee.

Which 3 players would you cut? I would cut:

Rondo
Jeff Green
Eric Gordon

BIE has us ranked 3rd & McGee gets no respect.
3. (↓) USA. BiE’s sorry, but inactivity and the fact that JaVale McGee (JaVale McGee!) is destined to stick on Team USA just isn’t going to cut it on these power rankings after Greece turned the Love Cyprus tournament into a circus this weekend.

When u look at the line-ups they've been running in practice, you have to assume that JaVale is 3rd on the big-man depth-chart IF he survives the cut. I'm beginning to think the only way to gold is to run the OKC lineup of Durant, Westbrook, & Green + Odom & ?

1. Chauncey Billups, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant, Rudy Gay, Lamar Odom

2. Billups, Westbrook, Gay, Kevin Love, Odom

3. Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Gay, Love, Chandler

4. Rose, Curry, Andre Iguodala, Love, Chandler

5. Westbrook, Eric Gordon, Gay, Durant, JaVale McGee

6. Westbrook, Gordon, Gay, Durant, Jeff Green

7. Rose, Gordon, Iguodala, Durant, Chandler

8. Rose, Curry, Iguodala, Gay, Chandler

no way i wouldve cut rondo... hes the only distributing point guard, or maybe let steph curry run the point. but hell no to drose!!

my lineup would be
curry, gay, durant, odom, chandler
maybe
billups, curry, durant, odom, chandler
i dont think rose will do good in FIBA basketball, but i would be glad if im wrong.

look out for the germans :P

they have a pretty young and hungry team, could cause a upset this year, would have been nice to see dirk and chris on our team
im bout dat action boss

A scrimmage between 2 different USA lineups will be televised at 6:30 tonight on NBATV, tune-in to check-put JaVale and Team USA.

:14.5 secs left; could go into OT. I turned on the game late so I missed McGee's minutes; hopefully he'll get a little burn if it goes to an extra frame.

Overtime!

Sudden death OT, actually. First team to score wins. So much for McGee getting in the game.

Actually, McGee got in for the tip (he lost to Chandler).

And, on a broken play, Chandler gets the dunk to win the game. McGee was completely lost on that one. :(
