I have a question.

Why did he leave the nba in the first place if he was so skilld?

I don't know him, so I am asking straight forward.

This is the closest thing we've had to the Laron Profit thread in years. Keep it up.

Mo Almond got beat out of a job by CJ Miles, Wes Matthews, and Ronny Brewer. Utah was pretty loaded at SG/SF.

Also, I don't think he got along well with Deron Williams. Nothing documented but I just don't think so.

As a Jazz fan, I am so happy that Morris got another shot at the NBA. I hope he has learned some lessons. Mo's problem was never scoring the ball. His problems is he would ignore what coaches told him, saved energy on defense and refused to run an offense that was not ending with him taking the shot. I think he is finally humbled enough to listen to coaches and run an offense. He is NBA talent. Just needs the right mind set. Go Mo.

Almond's presence already paying dividends. If Laron Profit had a son, I'd imagine him to be a lot like young Morris.

Morris getting run out of the NBA had nothing to do with the SGs Utah had or the Deron Williams. From what I heard he and Sloan would butt heads. First he was a rookie that thought he was Ray Allen. Sloan hates rookies and does not play them until they earn his respect. He never earned Sloan's respect. Then things did not get better the second year. Morris continued to be at odds with Sloan. Sloan wants his offense run only one way, his way. Sloan wants defense over everything else. Morris continued to not run the offense the way Sloan asked and never played the defense Sloan wanted him too.

To me, the reason he left the Jazz was because Sloan got sick of telling him the same thing over and over and Morris not responding. Then he went to NY, where NY had nothing vested in him and tried the same game and they let him go to as the season started. I don't think he even played a game for them.

Now he is older and wiser, I hope he has learned and finds a home with the Wiz. I really like the kid. I never felt he got a fair shake in Utah because of the way Sloan is and the relationship he ended up having with him. You fight and get in players faces, Sloan loves you. Rookie or not. This is not Morris Almond. He is a easy going cat that can score the rock. Kind of the anti Jerry Sloan. There should be a place for Mo in the NBA. I hope it is with the Wiz.

Before the Wiz picked him up, I was hoping with a new coach, the Jazz might give him another shot. But I think that bridge has been crossed and I hope the best for him.

Thanks!

Mo has been humbled, I hope. I am sure he's been given a heads up to be tough and defend well this time around.

Let's hope he does.

Ted and EG have at least keep thing fun for us.

Brought back Singleton and Martin. Now they bring in Almond. Very nice.

What I really liked about the Chicago game is you see the effect of a productive SF. I have posted lots about this. You need a SF to get through crunch time. When teams are trapping your guards and doubling down our our post players, you need someone who can float between all of that and score from all over. We have played most of the year with Singleton at SF. He isn't that player.

They still have some building to do but I like the direction things are headed and the assets they are accumulating. I can see them winning more next year but long term SF is still wide open. Not sure MKG is that kind of player or not. Need a PP, Shaun M or something similar to get a really good team.

Definitely agree on the need for production from the SF position. I don't understand why they insist on starting Singleton every game. He needs to hit the bench. He's not learning and the team is suffering with his lack of productivety.

Nice read in today's Post. Almond Joy has 5 games to make his mark. If Almond can come in and be the anti-Crawford, it will be an easy call to give him a cheapie contract for next year. It all starts tonight.

hands, not that it is a bad thing but I'm not feeling baby oil and almond butter...

I feel more like a parent whose kid is at the FT line with the game on the line. What if he misses?

got to meet Morris last night. I mentioned that he had a really big fan
on our BB that wanted him here since he left school. He was genuinely
pleased to hear that and said to say thanks.

I expect we'll go undefeated next year with MA and JSing doing
most of the damage.

Thanks, jim.

If he makes the team long term, it would be nice to have Morris on as a regular. Actually, a new blog is something I've been considering.

We'll see.
