Just like the Lewis trade i don't get the sense of urgency. Guys like AJ Price can be signed at any time. If they waited and weren't able to sign him it isnt like they would be missing out on a gem.

How does securing Price now inhibit us from getting Livingston later? And the market was really drying up to the point where all that's left are the likes of Sundata Gaines, Ronnie Price, and AJ Price. Not

I think people are overreacting from the standpoint that the plan is for neither Price, Mack, or any backup to play much at all. If everything goes right then we really just want a 3 guard rotation of Wall, Beal, & JC getting all the minutes.

JC is hopefully experinced enough to play PG much better then he did last year and having Beal beside him should help alot. That should be all we need for the 12 min Wall sits.

With that being said, I would rather have Livingston as the 3rd guard over JC but hopefully the change in our team will force JC to tone it down. If he does that an accepts a backup role then its perfect. He should be able to since he will still be getting alot of minutes

Goodbye Shelvin Mack, welcome Shelvin Mack :|

Typical Ernie move. We're not happy with the play of our backup PG, let's make a lateral move.

I am just going buy what Lee said. He said they couldn't wait to see what happened with Shaun. My question is, why not?

Theoretically they could sign Shaun and have 4 pgs on the roster (assuming they don't dump Mack). I wouldn't bet on that though.

Mack is on a non-guaranteed deal, and Price may be as well. If Livingston does hit waivers, I don't think this signing is going to stop up from pursuing him; especially if they were interested as was reported by Lee. This signing to me seems like they secured a backup candidate while they could so that if nothing better does come along, they at least have someone to compete with Mack. If Mack hadn't played as poorly as he did in SL, I think they just would have continued to wait out the market.

Pargo was the way to go. He has a ton of experience, has a decent shot, and could potentially share the backcourt w/ Wall when he goes on one of his runs....

I'll say this: even in slo-mo, he looks faster than Mack.

Hmm...The general consensus of him on the IND board seems positive.. at least more positive than the love Shelvin gets around here.

This. It's a long offseason and the guy who ends up backing up Wall may not be on the roster yet. We may have just upgraded our third string. with another move to come.

Just because Lee is playing up the story of line of Price automatically being Wall's backup doesn't make it so. We could still see other players signed to compete for the job.

I don't mind the pick-up as long as its not a guaranteed deal and it doesn't inhibit us from exploring other options as the market develops. My guess is they wanted and still want Livingston, but needed a fallback in case Houston doesn't let him go. Now we have someone who can compete with Mack, and if Livingston does become available later in the summer, we can still go that route.

As for those who say this is no upgrade to Mack, Mack couldn't even get us into offensive sets in summer league. He is not an NBA player at this point. Price has regressed as a shooter, but had some moments in meaningful NBA games and has shown the ability to at least get the offense into sets. Mack has shown that he can't shoot, has no speed, and can't get you in the offense. All he has shown is the ability to pund the rock for a majority of the 24 second clock while failing to make the right reads. I'm not excited about his move, but I'd be happy to see anyone other than Mack running point for us. Hopefully we still end up w/ Livingston.

+1. This isn't a wow move, but to be honest, I didn't expect one given the players available. It would be nice to find a better back-up at PG, but its not really going to make much of a difference this year. Its not like we will be contending for a championship. Even if Livingston gets waived and we pick him up, it probably won't make much of a difference in our win/loss record.

Yeah, most of the IND board said that he was a professional and did pretty well for what he was asked to do. Some even suggested that he could do better in a bigger role. The kid is still young...I'm willing to reserve judgment on him until I see him play.

"Looking at [Washington's] roster, I could see the backup point guard position was in need," Price went on. "I think I have an opportunity to come in and play, contribute right away. I know my role as a player in this league.

Oh you wanna bet? All I know about this guy is that he was an A## hole his first year at UConn and he's been playing for the Pacers.

One of the most popular players in the locker room -- both with players and coaches -- A.J. Price has been an ideal backup in his three seasons with the Pacers.

When out of the rotation, he doesn't complain or sulk, practices hard and actively supports his teammates. When in the rotation, he has proven consistently effective at running the offense smoothly, directing the team and hitting the occasional big shot.
