Man I've been arguing for Olynyk from day one.

Porter has a lot of work to do to erase Kelly from my mind

Little Booker is an interesting addition. He's bigger and more skilled than Trevor. At Clemson, he made Andray Blatche look like a high-motor athlete, but was unguardable when he found his moments of effort.

Maybe a shot at the NBA will motivate him?

Wall and Olynyk pick and roll with Beal and Webster on the wings and Okafor protecting the paint

Damn KO is a total steal for Boston at pick 13, I wish Vesely were 1/4 as-good. Our front court depth is scary.

Lamb looked great last ear in the summer. I liked Olynyk, but porter is a better pick, even if it is only because he is a two way player. I wouldn't pick a frontcourt player who is a defensive liability in the top 5.

He's probably going to be better on both sides of the court than Bennett and we had a huge chunk of guys on this board who wanted Anthony.

Oladipo playing a lot of PG today and playing well. His motor and competitiveness are unbeleivable. Magic have a couple nice players to build around.

VO has that future all-star vibe, dude does it all and looks good at PG.

I agree. I am happy he went before Porter so we don't have to worry about the "what might have been" vibe.

KO scored great but gave up a bunch defensively and had a lot of turnovers for a big man (5). It was his first game so I'll take that with a grain of salt, but I'm not ready to declare that he's a better pick than Otto at no. 3, especially not after this one summer league game.

Wouldn't shock me at all if he ends up being better than Porter.

I said he would prior to the draft. Every year there are players who seem like obvious good picks. People talk about length, defense, and short arms but they fail to look at the numbers which overwhelmingly are predictive. Olynyk is going to be be a big time scorer and he's the best scoring big man in this draft. I would have drafted him if I were a real GM.

Another prediction is one many have made. Oladipo is going to be a star, if not a superstar. I still say he made probably more sense than Porter. (Draft and trade for lots of value but he was off the board). He's simply the most athletic player and he also produced one season of overwhelmingly dominating numbers. I will be shocked if Porter is anywhere near the player Oladipo is.

That said, I will be shocked if Porter isn't better than average.

My thoughts on this draft is it is a very strong draft, and all those calling it a weak draft are flat wrong. The one surprise will be Trey Burke won't be the best PG out of this draft. There's at least a couple better rookie PGs. Burke's defense will be a challenge but I also think his offense was bolstered by talented teammates. I don't see where Burke is significantly better than McCallum or Wolters. I think McCollum will prove better as a scorer. I won't be shocked if Lorenzo Brown or some unheralded prospect like Myck Kabongo don't end up better than Burke, also.

More a reflection on this being a strong draft than a knock on Trey Burke.

Five turnovers and six fouls -- and that's also part of the package. I like Olynyk's offense and think the Wizards already being good defensively would have shielded him some on defense.

My idea for Olynyk would have been a trade down where the Wizards upgrade depth bring him off the bench and trading Seraphin, Singleton, and/or Vesely for better talent. I see no way that Olynyk doesn't at least turn into an 18-20 PPG scoring big, and one worth a lot in trade.

booker, Bone, Hassel, land Dillard look interesting, Im not a fan of gaines, but what ever. So much for ever seeing Thomas ever again, but at least we can see how Jan plays with his bigger body. I am looking forward to seeing Singleton play as well as our first looks at Rice and Porter.

I don't think anyone has picked up Carmichael yet. Sure would have been nice to see him invited.

Miami heat has carmicheal. Kabongo playing today as well. It's been interesting if Oladipo makes a westbrook like change to pg. Or plays wades game who has the ball

KO is excellent value at 13 and he was given away by Dallas IIRC the trade. It will be interesting to see how-much of a difference there will be between Zeller at 4 and OK at 13.

Romero Osby is one that flew under the radar. Had some really strong NCAA games in a very tough conference.

Kevin Durant already tweeted about Osby being a steal for Orlando. Osby is a three years older and physically is much more mature than Porter. He's nowhere near the passer and his defensive profile is not as versatile as Otto's. However, I suspect he is far more ready to contribute offensively because he's strong.

http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/pla ... sby-1.html

Led the Big 12 in PER (28.9) and WS/40 (.246)

The numbers over time don't lie. I value the numbers way more than height, reach, and other artificial measures like agility. Osby could be one of the second round picks who outperforms most of the first round picks. This draft has at least 6 or 7 very good second round players, plus a couple undrafted who have first round talent.

As for Otto, I believe he'll peak in 3-4 years. He's going to be a good all around player who probably plays in one or two all star games is my prediction. I think like Prince was, Otto will be a winning ball player. He does things that help teams win.

Terrence Jones should have a breakout season for the Rockets.

Dwight Howard made the right move going to Houston, IMO. He's got Harden, Parsons, and young bigs like Jones and Motiejunas, who are going to put a lot of points on the board. Jones, IMO, is a future all star.

I don't know how in the world Houston didn't use Jones in the playoffs this season.

To be fair to KO, he was playing with a group of guys who are absolutely not NBA talents whatsoever other than MAYBE Darius Johnson Odom, while on the other end going against legit NBA players in Harkless, Nicholson, Osby, and Dipo.

As for Dipo, I think people need to settle down. He went against trash non NBA talent today and he ran the point terribly with six turnovers--most of which were just really bad passes or passes that were terribly telegraphed.

The good thing though is his handle looked good, his range looked good, and he looked super comfortable being an assertive first option.

And again as far as KO I'd be shocked if he wasn't better than Zeller. I think Zeller will be better on the glass, but I think defensively between them its a wash and I like KO better offensively.

Agree with all of this. I think Otto is likely a better value at 3, but getting KO and another asset by trading down could've worked out really well.

Oh well. Look forward to watching OP next week. He may not have a single 25 point effort, but hopefully he does enough all around to get us excited.

I hate to seem like I'm poo-pooing Otto, it's just KO is just very, very good.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if Porter put up 25+ though. He's very good as well .
