Playoffs? Ya Kiddin me? Wizards vs. Bulls Game 1 Thread

What a coincidence?! Look who starts a playoff thread after being a negative nancy all year and called out for being a troll? Go Wizards.

One thing I dont like is that nearly every expert I heard talk last night totally bypassed us and Toronto. They just went straight to the 2nd round, Chi vs Ind and Mia vs BK, especially us. Some at the end would say to give Tor some love but no one said that about us and everyone said that Chi was the team that no one wants to play. Also, the host sometimes would say "if" while Rose or someone was talking and they would still keep talking without even aknowledging that Chi might not even make it to the 2nd round.

That means if we win we will have come out of nowhwere and get everyone's respect. This is one of those things where no one has seen us all year so they know nothing about us. Then when we upset Chi in the 1st or 2nd game, they will all start to talk about how we are better then they thought and actually have more talent then Chicago which is why we outplayed them head to head this year.

Then thats gold because we are already getting prime time TV spots and if we win one of the first 2 then everyone will start watching this series. Our young guys can become stars. Either way it bodes well for next year where I expect to be alot better after getting this monkey of our back. Should be able to win a good percentage of close games next year

I think this will be a low scoring defense oriented series. Chicago needs to keep the tempo slow to keep the Wiz in a half court game. The Wiz need to show they can score in the half court. If Bulls take away the 3, Wiz have to take advantage of Boozer with either Gortat or Nene. Also establish early on (not often) that the bigs can hit the 15-18 footer to keep Noah and Gibson from hanging around the basket for help D. All of this then allows Wall to take over the game when it matters. He needs to draw lots of fouls. We can't have passive jump-shooting Wall. Go to the bigs early. Then let Wall take over.

On the other side, I think Wall can shut down Augustine. Boozer has tough matchups against either Nene or Gortat and shouldn't be a factor. I think Washington is capable of crushing Chicago's offense as long as the effort and concentration is there - and they avoid the prolonged funks we've seen where they seem to lose their focus.

I legit think we have a chance. I would be shocked if we got swept, or if this ended in 5. Just has the makings of a 6-7 game series.

Edit: Way I look at it, Bulls destroyed us when we didn't have Nene, but beat them twice in a span of like 5 days.

The biggest reason for optimism is that this team seems mentally strong on the road. 22-19 is the best road record in the east (tied with the Miami heat). That's seriously impressive and something that doesn't get talked about enough.

One reason for concern: BULLS FANS GTFO OUT THE VERIZON CENTER. DC REPRESENT YOUR TEAM.

Honestly this is a series we can win. I'd be legitimately disappointed if we lost.

I don't have a good feeling about this series because were going to play right into Chicago's hands defensively. If the regular season is any indication, the Bulls defense is going to dictate the types of shots we take. The Bulls will help out on Wall, chase the 3 pt shooters off the line and give us all the 18 ft & 20 ft jumpers we want. We'll take those shots with aplomb because Witt thinks any open shot is a good shot and your supposed to take what the defense gives you.

I actually think we could probably beat Chicago under different circumstances, but I don't think we have the correct offensive mindset to score effectively against the Bulls D.

I will say this though. If Wall realizes he's the most talented player on the court, and is ultra aggressive, the Bulls may be in trouble because they really don't have an answer for him at his best. Problem is Wall often falls into the Wittman line of thinking, any open shot is a good shot, and his aggressiveness is based on whether he's hitting the jumper or not (more often it's not).

I think we have more talent than Chicago but they are better coached with a deeper bench.
