Milwaukee is in a rough spot though. They need another point guard capable of starting (MCW is terrible offensively), and as soon as Parker comes back, that leaves Middleton in no man's land. Giannis/Parker are their cornerstone players.

It's really gonna come down to the rest of the season. If Williams doesn't turn the ball over as much as he did in Philly, they could just try slotting Giannis over to SG and bringing back everybody.

From comments Kidd has made, it's pretty clear he sees MCW as a key building block - he sees himself in MCW. He may need a new mirror or glasses, but that's another story. Middleton will not be in no man's land. He's their best player and will almost certainly be their starting 2.

Because it would make too much sense. And because we're the Wizards.

Wall (20) Thomas (28)
Beal (32) Wall (16) Temple
Porter (32) NBDL'er/Butler/Webster (16)
Pierce (24) Nene (24) Gooden
Gortat (32) Humphries (16) Blair/Seraphin

One trade deadline acquisition and moving Nene to the bench for Otto. I think the roster would have been in much better shape for a playoff run. Spacing would be better. We'd have serious pop off the bench and the only issue is depth at SF. Using that 15th spot to find a NBDL'er on the wing would be my choice. It makes absolutely no sense why we aren't using that 15th spot now considering how terrible Butler/Webster have been recently but Ernie apparently isn't concerned enough to care or do anything about it.

Yup. The only thing I'd change is that I'd consider Nene to be the "center" in any lineup where Gortat was not on the floor. But that's just semantics. The bottom line is that by making that one trade and that one lineup change, the team would have been much younger and skilled, with much better spacing.

Something tells me that uncle Ted knows that the construct of the team is flawed, although in principle the strategy is not flawed. Meaning, we errored in execution. That falls on EG. So, I don't think he will allow for the last spot to be filled by EG. We will go into the playoffs with this roster. I think EG is done. No pickups will be made for that last spot...not by EG.

We could have done both!
Blair, kevin, and a first for Thomas and plumlee would have been wonderful
then trade Miller for sessions and the money would have evened out.
Then you have a solid back up sitting on the bench in case someone goes down or you need to rest Beal, Wall or Thomas.

That would have literally been perfect.

I was not happy when we traded our first pick for Gortat. But a future first pick for Isaiah Thomas would have been a no-brainer. Instead Sessions??? WTF Ernie

So, you're saying we can't sign-and-trade Kevin Seraphin for him?

I tell you what, Middleton is no Tomas Satoransky -- and our GM could certainly see that when he passed on Middleton (and Draymond Green and Jae Crowder) to nab Sato, right?

Our GM?

Ernie gonna Ernie.

He knew to pick up Vesely before Leonard and Faried. :(

(That draft I posted anyone but Vesely and Chris Singleton...wanted Faried, Leonard, and Marshon Brooks).

Andre miller with a double double on 6/7 shooting. Helped orchestrate a huge comeback against PDX.

Just another example of why coaching and situation matters so much.

Dray is producing pretty well in his new home with a new system and new coach.

Look at the difference in his number once he changed teams. :nonono:

Having watched the games, I would say that the change is for two reasons - he already knows the system that his coach wants to run and the personnel surrounding him on the court. Coaching matters... but so does talent. He was sharing the court with Temple, Butler and Seraphin... come on guys - GM first then the coach.

The funny thing about it is we're probably going to draft a scrub backup PG who takes forever to develop when you could have just gotten IT in his prime. That contract he has is going to be an absolute underpay with the new cap. It's literally infuriating to think about.

It's why I'm really starting to back away from my support of this team until Ernie is ousted. It's literally torture attaching fandom to a franchise who's front office doesn't take realistic steps at winning.

Question - if the Celtics offered Sullinger or Olynyk for the Wiz 1st rounder and a re-signed Seraphin, would you be interested? I think they need to trade one or the other - as they have similar weaknesses - defense. Boston has already stated publicly that Sullinger's level of fitness was unacceptable to them. Olynyk's contract is better because his team has an extra year of control. Sullinger has only 1 more year left, so his cap hold increases. But he was a low-mid 1st, so I don't think his cap hold would hurt too much in going after Durant.

The advantage having one of them is they stretch defenses. Sullinger has also been one of the most productive young bigs in the game - even without being in good shape. And they can both step in and play - they've gone through their NBA big man initiation period. That's an advantage over a draft pick - especially if we're seriously trying to attract Durant.

For Olynyk yes. No for Jared because he's going to be a free agent soon. I'd give up two firsts for both IT and Olynyk.

Absolutely. I'd be interested in either one. I probably prefer Sullinger because I think he's a little better but I'd like to have either and I think Seraphin and our first is a fair price.

I'd actually prefer Olynyk to Sullinger due to injury concerns and the extra year of control on Olynyk's deal. Despite Olynyk's defensive concerns, RPM loves him because of his offensive impact, he's one of the best Cs in the league on that end. I'd love him off the bench next to Nene. We'd destroy 2nd units around the league with that level of skill/IQ upfront.

Just one more thing on Miller. With the Wizards - WS48 = .121, with the Kings WS48 = .087 - he has had some pretty stinky games.
