Bosh poor defense is a myth.
He's one of the best in the business on what he does on the defensive end, obviously he isnt a shot blocker, but that's not all on defense.
Also, Bosh talent on offense is tremendous, he'll probably can be making 25ppg being the 1st option elsewhere, Olynyk is nowhere near that, and he never would.

Re: Official 2013 Draft Thread - Part IV
Olynyk seems well suited to playing a high post, foul line, mid-post game similar to the way Bosh uses his 15ft jumper and pump fake to get open mid-range shots. That could be valuable on this team given the number of times this season Okafor/Nene missed open foul line jumpers. On offense his game is a better complement for both of our starters than they are to each other with his ability to put the ball on the floor and accurate jumper. And he runs the floor well even if he lacks explosion on the finish. At worst, he's a better offensive option than all of the bench bigs on this team simply because he can hit an open jumper.
However, I'm a little concerned that his 3pt% doesn't seem particularly good (31% this year on only 1 attempt per game) and his FT% is merely good (76%) so he doesn't really fit the Ryan Anderson stretch four prototype. He'd certainly be a better shooter from the PF or C position than anyone on the team right now, but he hasn't shown that his range is a weapon yet (unlike Ryan Anderson who shot 3s with high volume and great efficiency in college). And I'm not sure he has the athleticism or strength to make space for himself as an option in the post like he did this past year.
I'm also not sure about the idea that he'd be a good passer/facilitator. He might be, but I didn't see it in the few games I saw. His PG past gets brought up a lot but his A/TO ratio was negative this year and it's not like he racked up a lot of assists.
He has strengths but even his projected value on the offensive end is a little uncertain.

Re: Official 2013 Draft Thread - Part IV
Bosh's defense is a myth? The season before he joined the heat he had a defensive rating of 111. His defense has been better since joining the Heat but a lot of that has to do with exceptional perimeter defense around him.
People have been like WELL WHAT TEAMS HAVE WON WITH NON RIM PROTECTING CENTERS? I just gave you three teams that made the finals in the last 5 years--Bosh is not a rim protector and isn't great defensively. Well lulz if only we can get LeBron And Wade we'll be great! Cmon. This is all under the hope that Wall and Beal develop into great players. Pau Gasol? Cmon. You're going to call him a great defender now?
I've compared Kelly Olynyks role to the Heat iteration of Bosh--one that isn't especially fast off the first step as he used to be and scores off of PNR, put backs and jumpshots. Kelly can do that, and that's without even talking about a post game that is better than Bosh. How many times a game does Wall miss 4 or 5 assists based off of missed free throw jumpshots from his bigs?
The 3pt game? No, its not there. There's decent hope that he can develop it over the years, but that's not really what we need. We need a young kid who can defend decently, rebound decently, run PNR with Wall and knock down jumpshots at a high rate. That's Olynyk.
And we're not even going off of the assumption that he could get better and create his own post offense despite the fact that virtually every scout says he's the best post player in this draft.
And nobody has any evidence that he's a bad defender or rebounder. His rebound percentage is the same as Alex Lens. He has quick feet and high IQ to defend the PNR.

Perkins, Bosh, and Gasol are your examples of poor defensive C's? When I think of bad defensive C's I think closer along the lines of McGee, DeAndre Jordan, and Al Horford.

He's seven feet tall. He led the nation in blocked shots. He improved all four years in college. He will become a great finisher in the NBA. Zeke Marshall might be the most underrated player in this draft.
That video makes me think he's probably a decent stretch four, in the mold of a PJ Brown.
Again ? I kid. I kid.
Nice video. Moves like a 7-0 Trevor A.

Perkins is definitely a bad defensive C, especially on help D. He's too slow to recover most times. The last 3 seasons in the playoffs, he's gotten manhandled on D.

Some measurements per Chad Ford:
Porter: 6'8.5 in shoes, 7'1.5 wing span
Adams: 7'0 in shoes, 7'4.5 wing span, 9'1.5 standing reach
Rudy Gobert: 7'2'' in shoes, 7'8.5 wingspan and 9'7'' standing reach
Cody Zeller: 7'0.25 in shoes, 6'10.75 wingspan, 8'10'' standing reach
Muhammed: 6'6.25 in shoes, 6'11'' wingspan
Oladipo: 6'4.25 in shoes, 6'9.25 wingspan
Based on what I got from this, Zeller is going to plummet and Oladipo projects to be more of a 2 than a 3. I think.

Looks like Bazz can play some SF.
Zeller being a little taller than 7 feet is actually pretty cool. I know the standing reach is bad but the athleticism and speed could make up for it.

Well I'm mad I missed the combine today. I have that channel (verizon), but I did not know it was on tv today I thought it started tomorrow. My fault, but what surprises me is I thought for sure it would be replayed at some point tonight (seeing how most people are not home in the middle of the day on a thursday), but lo and behold it seems it is not being replayed at all!!!!
I have my dvr set to record tomorrow's broadcast.

Aint no way he's playing the 3 at 6'4. Maybe in a 3 guard lineup. Shabazz can play some 3 with his near 7 foot wingspan. Gobert can practically grab the rim without jumping. What a freak.

The reach is ok for playing PF, and that's his position, he could play some Center in some kind of lineups but that's all.
Bazz can play both spots, but I dont think he'll fall to 8, if he does you just grab him and run
I keep thinking Bennett or Zeller will play for the Wizards.

DX reports his wingspan and standing reach are records via twitter. I think I have a new front runner for #8.

Good luck with Gobert, you're getting a mix between McGee/Ajinca/Thabeet/Alabi

I never believed that 6-8 measurement in the first place. If it was right, it would make Zeller the most T-Rex-armed player ever measured.

He probably would end up being similar to Hawes or Scola, good back-up big, but that's not lottery worthy, no way.
Yeah. Not sure what anyone saw in that video to get excited about.
He got pushed out from under the block. And from the looks of him running down the floor, the main thing I noticed is he has no butt. He looked smaller to me then I though he would be.
Would have been more impressed by seeing some shooting drills.
Great to finally have some new information and I think that alone will get people pumped. But steady as she goes.

Agreed. If anything, this boosts his stock a little. A 6-10 standing reach is perfectly adequate for a PF.
The guy that stands out to me is Adams. His measurements rival Drummond's. He's a project, but has some serious upside.
