How do you think Gay would look in Wittmans offense.. take a guess

Wall/Beal/Gay seems awfully similar to Lowry/Derozan/Gay. And that didn't work out too well..

Agree, just more making the point of how talented he is. Its a shame he can't put it together consistently and efficiently.

Theoretically however it would never work with Wittman and it would require Gay making the move to the 4 ....

Where he would be a defensive sieve of Gooden-esque, Jamisonian proportions

Trade him for what?

We won't know what he is until we see him under a different coach. He's not gonna be Kobe but he still has the skillset to be a good player, just needs to be developed properly.

Wittman thinks Beal is prime Kobe, as if he can just dial up a play for him every time and he'll create something. I can't think of any other playoff team that based their offense around a 20-year old sophomore SG

I'm not shopping him but I'd listen to offers. I don't consider an undersized two guard to be untouchable. If someone knocks your socks off with an offer, why not consider it? I'm in no rush to deal him because I think he can be a good 20ppg scorer but if a team is willing to deal a lot for him because they think he's a superstar, explore it....

Had a feeling this one was a loss. John just gets beat every time he goes against Isiah. Its just a given. I think with Nene we would have won, he could have shut down Cuzzo, who was a beast. First time ive seen Gay at Sactown...

What i wanna know is, if Wall is now an all-star, how come he doesnt get star calls and Gay, a 0 x all-star gets them?

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Thomas/Gay/Cuz seems to work for the Kings at least offensively. They can definitely score and have played much better as a team since the trade. McLemore is at least a year away - but I think he is going to get it. And they have a first round pick which should be pretty high.

But Malone doesn't seem to be able to get the defensive energy out of the Kings like Witt gets out of the Wizards. They should be a pretty good defensive team but just are not. There schemes aren't great but there defensive execution is worse.

If the Kings were to pick up a good rookie, if McLemore develops as he should and if they could pickup a defensive stopper through a trade or FA - they could be a bottom level playoff team in the west...

Either way, as constructed - the Wizards should beat these Kings. Wall doesn't miss the two free throws and all is good.

Didn't see the game but no surprise we lost to a garbage team. We'll probably beat Portland now. Because that's how the Wiz roll.

Wall missed 2 FTs that would have iced the game. Instead Kings came back and NO NOT THIS GUY Rudy Gay got hot and killed us in the OT.

We've played 11 (4-7) OT games. The record is 14 by the '91 Sixers. The record for OT losses in a season is 10.

From parsing comments (I didn't get to watch the game), Wittman's greatest sins included:
  • Keeping Gooden in too long when he was clearly out of gas. As a result, the team couldn't get any rebounds.
  • Calling late-game plays for an ice-cold Beal, some of them involving the dreaded long two.
  • Failing to use offense/defense substitutions when several key players had 5 fouls. (This one is legit, and has no excuse)

The substitution situation was just dumb, an easy error to avoid.

Wittman left Wall on the bench too long too after he got his fourth foul. He was on the bench for over 9 minutes game time. Wall came back in totally out of rhythm and ineffective. After coming out so much earlier in the third, Wall should have played more of the fourth than he usually does, not less.

The way they flubbed all those late game possessions was classic Wittman.

But it was a whole lot of dropping the ball going on by almost everyone last night. It was terrible basketball. Sacramento is so bad, a legit team would have blown us out.

Didn't see the game, apparently Wall missed the game-icing FT.

Stupid plays late. Ex., Beal blocking layup attempt which resulted in 4-on-1 fastbreak that Beal messed up by trying to dunk over Isiah Thomas (damn near from the foul line) instead of passing ball back to Andre Miller or Drew Gooden, both who were positioned directly underneath the basket to the left and right of him...offensive foul, Kings ball.

Beal and Wall at times late in the game hoisted deep shots instead of tacking on simple twos to increase the advantage...Wittman did nothing to stop it and didn't seem very bothered by it.

The Wizards also didn't rebound very well late 4th qtr in key moments, giving the Kings second chance opportunities that they made good on.

wall missed 2 FTs when we were up 2 with < 20 sec to play. It happens. One thing I was a little
surprised about was that on the inbounds, he didn't try to dribble away and kill more time. He
was undoubtedly confident about hitting what should have been the game icing shots.

wittman failed to sub out 3 players that had 5 fouls at the end of OT when we
were behind and needed to foul. One of the asst coaches should have reminded
him that they really HAD to do this or sacrifice a player (Wall/Tat/Ariza) that
had 5 fouls already.

lots of plays to think back and say what if about when you lose in OT -
mine for this game was getting called for a lane violation when Reggie Evans
missed the 2nd of 2 FTs early in the game (2ndQ?). Naturally he made the re-do
after the violation was called.

And the Wizards overall missed 10 free throws. Wall missed 4, Beal missed 3, while Gortat, Harrington, and Miller each missed one.
