Turgeon.....nice guy, good recruiter but he's just missing that "it" to maximize this team's talent.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Man. UMD basketball is just unwatchable.

So much talent, so little coaching. I just can’t stand watching set after set of one player dribbling away the shot clock while standing still beyond the top of the key. No motion, no movement toward the basket, nothing inside out. Blech.

Every year, the offense under-performs. I think this season is his last chance to get it done.

Just a theory, but I believe that the Terps would be better without Anthony Cowan. He's the primary ball stopper. He's the main guy who over dribbles. He's the guy who takes hero shots. Mark Turgeon, ironically has considered Cowan unselfish. I don't see it that way at all.

I'm not a Turg fan by any means, I think we all (including myself) overrated this team. Cowan and Ayala are combo guards who love to shoot. They don't take care of the ball. But what are the options? There are none. He played walk-on Ryan Mona yesterday in crunch time.

As bad as Turgeon is, it's not his fault that Wiggins is having a terrible year from beyond the arc. Or that Ayala is shooting 25%. Ayala was over 40% last year from 3. Wiggins looked like a future star. Now the offense or lack of movement is on Turge. The fact that he's trying to make Jalen Smith into a center and he's a four-man because all of his centers (Mitchell twins and Lindo) are unplayable. Smith is a face-up four. He needs to play up top and post up four-man, not 6-10, 270-pound centers. He's still too light at 6-10, 225. He gained a lot of weight in his upper body but not in his legs.

But I can't defend the poor starts in every game and how the team is basically tuning him out this early in the season. That's not a good sign for conference play. If they don't watch out, they could be on the outside looking in this year in the NCAA's, which whould be shocking for a team that was third in the nation at one point. But if not for a miracle Cowan shot against Illinois, this team would be 0-2 in the Big 10.

What are the options? I came up with the same answer: I have no idea.

I think if I were coaching I would sit Wiggins for at least a half of the next game. I would start shotjackers Cowan and Ayala with rebounders Scott, Smith, and Makhi Mitchell. I would put Sticks at PF and he would be asked to shoot twice as frequently, even from the perimeter. The team would press and sprint out on every defensive rebound. Dunks should get things going.

Seems to me playing nine guys makes sense. Morsell, Wiggins, Lindo, and Hart would all see time.

There is absolutely no excuse for these slow starts and low scoring games.

No surprise about the Mitchell twins leaving, but the timing was a bit surprising. Now the mother is going off on Twitter.

Chol Marial could be a game-changer though the team still struggled with shooting early on against Bryant on Sunday. A game probably 500 people watched on TV. But they wound up shooting 7 of 14 from three, which means they are not jacking up 30 shots. Killed them on the boards by 32. Now comes the Big 10. I don't think this team is very good right now, but maybe getting rid of the Mitchell twins and adding Marial, who is reminiscent of a slightly beefier 7-2 Manute Bol, will help on the defensive end and the chemistry. He barely needs to jump to dunk.

They still need to show me against a 11-1 Indiana team and a 11-2 No. 2 Ohio State squad at home in their next two games.

Turgeon should know this is a can't win situation with the Mitchells, so he should avoid saying anything about them. Frankly, I got tired of them missing layups by 5 feet. I think they'd do better at a smaller school that has shooters. If they or their parents get that pissed off about Marial playing 14 minutes because he's like - better than they are... seeyabye Mitchell bros. Tbh, in a couple weeks, the Mitchell's will likely seem like a distant memory.

Maryland's biggest game of the year so far is in a half hour vs 11th ranked Ohio State. It'll be big Caleb Wesson against Stix Smith. Wesson, at 6'9 270, can make 3's. MD's D is going to have to focus on stopping 3's. This is probably not the breakout defensive game for Chol Marial, as Ohio State is a jump shooting team.
