I was just pointing out that the difference in the 4 year max from another team and our 5-year max is negligible unless you are scratching for every dollar in hopes of obtaining a max cap spot for another FA. If one deal is good or bad, then the other is basically the same.
The real issue with these deals is the last year or 2, but if we see a cap in the 150M+ range then its not as much a concern. Similar to 2016, many teams will have a ton of cap space and moving his contract would be very easy assuming he doesn't fall off a cliff.

If he's the Brad from two years ago then yes, the contract can be moved. If he has a repeat of last years numbers...you've got a contract you'll have to pay to get rid of.

But even more basic than this is: why exactly should we be paying him the max? We are bidding against ourselves here. There's just no reason to pay him more than $35M a year or so. If he doesn't like it, tell him to find us a suitable S&T partner who will give us value. Either that, or go sign with OKC/San Antonio, where it will still be less than max money.

I just can't believe that Sheppard is dumb enough to give him the full max. At least knock it down to 5 years $200M or something. That's $40M a year, which is still way more than he is worth and way more than he would get on the open market right now.

best case scenario come Trade deadline...we are 21-30 and Beal somewhat rebounded to scoring 27 a game. Trade him!

I think it’s fair to say that if Tommy gives Beal the supermax, then we can stop saying that he’s actually a good GM that is begrudgingly following Ted’s idiotic mandates.

Because while that might still be true, it doesn’t really matter. He will have been completely and totally ineffective in his role.

So… what’s the over/under on competing for the play-in game for the next 5 years?

How soon can they trade him for Russell Westbrook straight up?

In two years how many first-round picks will it take to move his contract?
