All kidding aside, I'm happy to see the guy flourishing. No doubt making a good living, got a comfortable life.

deeply unserious team

I remember many around here were criticizing Butler/Jamison for jacking up shots and not playing any defense on that 2008-09 team that finished with 19 wins. But I don't believe there was a game given that Butler didn't play without Jamison that season.

I think I found the game in the 2007-08 season https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200804050CHI.html.

Spoiler:
Jamison missed only 3 games that season and this was the only one where Butler played and Gilbert Arenas was also out

Not me.

I liked Eddie Jordan as a coach. Before he was fired, he made the playoffs with Antonio Daniels and DeShawn Stevenson at guards with Butler and Jamison at Forwards. However, Gilbert came back injured, and Jordan foolishly played Gil an average of 41 minutes a game in the playoffs after missing virtually the entire regular season.

He has become a pretty decent back up center .

We have a long history of, young bigs going off to being good roll players and solid back ups.

McGee, Wagnor, Bryant.

Let's pump the brakes here. There isn't any reason for regret in moving on from Bryant. Bryant has been a vet minimum journeyman for 3 years now. He played a grand total of 441 minutes last season, that's not even a backup's minutes; that's garbage time minutes. This season, he has played a total of 322 minutes in half a season. Again, that basically garbage time.

Also, he is 27 years old, so WYSIWYG. The guy can put the ball in the bucket, but he is a terrible defender.

And don't get me started on McGee who was an awful player until he finally figured out how to be a marginally competent backup big after 10 years in the league. There's nothing to regret there. The guy was waived twice and signed 3 vet-minimum contracts after leaving the Wizards. Trading him for Nene was a steal.

Wagner is good. I regret letting him go.

Daniel Gafford had a career high 31 points today.

31 points (12/15 FGs, 7/7 FTs), 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 7 blocks.

He would be perfect with Alex Sarr.

There have been some recent articles about the trade from both teams perspective.

We were very patient with McGee. We gave him many chances.
It wasn't obvious he would learn to <effectively> use his considerable skills.
When we got Nene for him, we instantly became a much better team.
Eventually, JaVale figured it out. But getting Nene worked out for us.
The one failure by Nene that was IMO the worst was letting Al Horford
get a putback which was the deciding bucket vs ATL. I believe that
put ATL in the ECFs.

I never understood adding Emeka Okafor when we had Nene and an eager pupil, Kevin Seraphin. Jan Vesely also vanished from the rotation with the addition of Okafor.

Sorry that the kid had to hear that stuff about his dad.

I'm kinda conflicted about this though. Honestly, being booed when you're not a good player is part of what he signed up for with playing in the NBA. Doubly or triply so when you have a franchise-crippling contract and you're not living up to it. Beal always has the option open to him to engage in some other income-earning activity.

Human side of me, even if I'm a terrible person, feels some sympathy for the family to have to hear this stuff when they watch him play. Terrible person side of me says they can be sad all they want on the drive home in the Bentley.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Except for the fact that he's not playing badly! I mean, he's playing fine. He's got a near 60% TS.

He's being made a scape-goat because of the insane contract that he got from Ted/Tommy. Is that his fault? Should he have refused to sign for so much money?

I don't know, I had my problems with Beal when he was here due to his lack of effort at times, so maybe that's happening in PHX? I honestly don't know why PHX fans are so mad at him. He is basically meeting any reasonable expectations. Trading for him was stupid, but that's on the GM.

Yup, Beal is more or less doing what he's supposed to do(although the injuries are a bit absurd) . Suns roster is really flawed. With Nurkic turning into a pumpkin, the Suns appear to have the worst center rotation in the league. Durant may not be a number 1 anymore, not like he used to anyways mostly because he is getting older and can't stay healthy. Booker with a 58 TS % is alright but not enough to offset the Suns poor defense. The bigger thing though is the West is a bloodbath.

That team never had a chance of being good, I’m pretty sure everyone knew that the minute the trade happened. Can’t really blame Beal. He doesn’t suck, he’s just injury prone and that roster is constructed just terribly. I don’t think swapping Beal for Butler will help either.

Spencer Dinwiddie back with Dallas -- 3d on the team in minutes. Playing well.
