I like Tre and Bub but this is not a recipe for long term success. Both players will have to improve their ability to attack the rim. And even then, a guard who attacks the rim naturally - i.e. grew up attacking the rim - would still be something I'd be looking for in the draft.

Not sure where they are getting that from. Bbref has 22% of his shots from midrange.

I think he's adding in 3-10 feet also. Don't think that's fair imo. But if I had one concern about Tre pre draft it was his ability to get to the rim. It'll be interesting to see how this aspect of his game develops. Like I posted in the Bub thread, paint touches are so important for guards because it forces the defense to help/scramble. I'd love to see statistics on points per possesion with a paint touch vs. without. The reason I don't like his argument is that if you're getting 3.5 feet to the rim that accomplishes the goal of forcing the defense to help.

Picking at 6 there were no prospects without concerns. Tre has an elite skill which really hasn't been utilized yet and i believe he will be able to leverage that to get in the lane and be effective. It will just take some time. I just posted that strange drive where he stopped dead on one foot and the defenders flew buy and he had an easy look. Knowing how obsessive he is i am sure he is working on things we haven't seen yet. We probably won't see what he can really do until we get rid of CJ and Middleton.

Tre will be fine attacking the rim once he establishes himself as a shooter. He's an above average athlete. Has some nasty dunks. Not the greatest first step ever but not bad. When people respect his shot more they'll play up more and he'll have nice options to attack the rim.

Bub's issue is he's probably never going to be an elite 3pt shooter to gain that respect, and he's not a good athlete. So it's a worst of both worlds scenario from a rim attack perspective. Still hope for both players.
